  1. That new technical single track is quite cool, I've only tried it once so far, and couldn't make it all the way without uncleating. But I will do it, I will, I will.
  2. Thanks! There was quite a quick pace set early on, would have loved to stick with the group. That headwind was very annoying toward Eikenhof, also slowed us quite a bit. Those hills were on my mind all day long, knowing we'd have to come back up them on the way back.
  3. Well got through my first Audax, phew. Was quite an experience, my first ride over 130km. I felt surprisingly good the whole day, even though we went the wrong way at one point and missed the first checkpoint, though we still covered the whole distance trying to backtrack . We were sitting nicely with a bunch in the beginning, but I got a puncture as the guys were leaving from Henley, so we weren't able catch up after that. Will definitely be back for future rides.
  4. Thanks guy, not sure I'll be doing the August one, doing the trans Baviaans, so I might not want to see a bicycle for a while after that
  5. No idea hey, I'd hope for 25kmph or so? And you?
  6. Thanks guys, there's 3 of us riding together, we'll try stick with one of the other groups. I think my fitness is fine for 200km, my biggest issue is usually my drinking and eating, need to be pedantic here. oh and also "COME ON YOU SPURS!!!"
  7. I'll be there, this will be my first Audax. Any Advice? Doing the 200km.
  8. This is the email I got from them: " Herewith is the Route for the abovementioned BRM. The option exists for you to choose to ride the event in one of two formats. Common to both formats is the outward and return aspects of the route. That is, Salisbury House to the Crossroads R550/M61 at Kliprivier and return. The first option is as described in the attachment:>> Henley on Klip>> 3 Rivers>>Heidelberg and return via the R103 and R550 to the M61 Xrds. The second option is to use the same route in reverse from the R550/M61 X rds. That is; from the X Rds>>Heidelberg>>3 Rivers>>Henley on Klip>>back to the R550/M61 X rds. The choice is yours. If you think you might like to exercise the second option please let me know. I will send you the alternative Route Sheet. However; here is the bonus; you can decide on the day which option you would like to take! Cheers and safe riding." The route is 200km long.
  9. I did the 40km and there were bottlenecks, I'm not sure about the 70km, hopefully it's been sorted. The main one I can remember was at the end of a long farm road going straight into some technical single track, waited quite a while there.
  10. Anyone else doing the Audax this weekend as prep? I don't like the look of that langs route...
  11. Will be in for the 70! Enjoyed this one last year, just the bottle necks get annoying. Really need to work on my seeding
  12. 1 month to Go!!! Can't wait! I know there were some recommendations for SealSkins socks. Any advice on this? Are they really worth the money? what are the alternatives?
  13. Still no seeding email here either.
  14. I am also interested in this, also a first timer here.
  15. Awolnation - Not your fault Loving this at the moment
  16. Thanks! Seems these are the same contact details I got. Yeah, I did a quick look at e-bay, and could see they weren't authentic. I don't see the point in buying expensive glasses only to put fake lenses in them.
  17. To avoid posting a new thread, I'll just post in here. I'm looking to get new lenses for my flak jacket frames, got a quote from Oakley SA, R1300 for polarized, R750 for normal. Anyone know of a supplier where I can get authentic Oakley lenses for cheaper than this?
  18. Haha well in that case I'm glad it was shorter, I only got my feet wet once toward the end, and it wasn't pleasant. I cycled home afterwards, so got an extra 20km in the legs anyway.
  19. Was freeeeezing, but not a bad race, flat and fast. A tad short of the advertised 60km though, Garmin had 53km.
  20. http://believeproject.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Believe-MTB-Race_2012_Flyer_Final-Electronic-version1.jpg 22 September?
  21. Hahaha, that would make sense! Ok, I guess in that case i would have to see a podiatrist first before trying any shoe adjustments. Thanks! My initial thought was that this was the case, but I tried that and also no luck
  22. Thanks for all the responses! Nope, none are carbon soles. I've used a couple different kinds of socks, same result unfortunately I've been fitted to both my bikes (is that what an ergo or bg fit is? ), and haven't changed them since then. I'll try a bit of stretching and see if there is any difference in my left side vs right side flexibility. Worth a try for sure. What is a dropped metatarsal? I think i will try a few other tricks, and if no luck then see a podiatrist. This talk of metatarsal worries me, I forgot, but I also hurt my foot a few months ago doing muay thai, kicked someone's elbow. Initially thought I had broken my metatarsal, but never got it checked and it healed, hopefully this is not related
  23. The Advendurance website entry method still doesn't work? I had to go to Eventry again. I've entered the 70km now, but I didn't get any early bird discount, surely this should still apply for the whole day?
  24. Hey there! I've been cycling for about 2 years, very casually. The past few months I've actually started training instead of just pitching up for races. As a result of the increased cycling and training schedule, I've noticed that after a short while cycling, i begin getting numbness in my toes on my right foot. I'm not really sure why this happens. It happens while riding road, MTB, and spinning, all 3 using different shoes, so I think I can rule that out. Last year I tore the ligaments in my right ankle quite badly, didn't need surgery, but a couple of months of physio before being able to run again. Is it possible that this could be the cause? Any other suggestions as to how to find out what the issue could be? Thanks, Spurs.
