  1. How did the current conditions compare to the year they cancelled the CTCT?
  2. They've both been talking up a big game promising to keep the fight standing, so I doubt we will see too many offensive take downs, probably only if one of them is on the backfoot. Cowboy tends to go for submissions often right after he has knocked his opponent down, as opposed to ground and pound like most other fighters. Either knocks the opponent out straight or rocks them and submits. Cowboy also doesn't always do too well when fighters press him too much, like Diaz for instance. Conor does like to sit back and counter with the strong left, but has been shown to press a bit more in recent fights. I've got Conor for this fight, but not by much.
  3. Great, configured the HR zones and noticed the new data page open up. All sorted thanks.
  4. Hi David, Thanks for the great tool! Been using it to manage load for a few weeks, and it's been great. Yesterday I started a ride with a power meter on the bike, but switched to another bike after about 10 minutes. The workout picks up that there was a power meter at the start and thus doesn't calculate TSS based on HR for the ride. Is there a way that I can delete the power data from this ride, or select that it uses hrTSS like one can do on TrainingPeaks? Cheers!
  5. Thread revival.... Anyone know of Power based training studio's in the Cape? I know of the one in willowbridge, but any that are closer to town?
  6. Levi 541's! Got a black pair for work as well. Any normal fitting 'normal' jeans would eventually tear at the crotch when getting into my car...
  7. I didn't know Chris Willemse needed advice on how many kids to have?
  8. Well, I didn't end up finding out. I had 2 bags in my car which was broken into and stolen, so I guess salvaged nonetheless? I do see however that PPA are collecting, below snippet from their latest newsletter CALL FOR UNWANTED CLOTHING AND SHOES If you have unwanted items of clothing and shoes (not cycling gear) at home, please drop it off at the PPA office, as we would like to hand it to the McGregor community. We are thanking you for your generosity in advance.
  9. Think there's still a chance of additional free entries? How does one apply for a free entry?
  10. Anybody have a timing chart they willing to share (which would include variations in average speed for hills etc.)? Looking to come in comfortably under 6.

Does anyone have the route profile for the 170? The 2017 version on PPA site looks dodge. Where do all the groups normally stop? i.e. Good place to stop where you can fill up and jump back into the bunch?

You looked like you had been alone in that wind for quite a while, pity we couldn't keep that small group together, would have helped a lot toward the end.

My comment not so much about local cyclists ability, but more hoping that the bigger event will have better attendance and more cyclists in the bunches to work with. And fingers crossed my 1 race after 2 years hiatus will do something for my seeding...

I'm also individual for 170km, lets hope the bunches are better than the durbie dash!
  15. Yeah there no real bunches to speak of behind %, looking at the times on racetec. I was one of those 5 with you in batch CL - tall guy in the red duvel top, really struggled to get anyone to help do the work. Last 15km was kaak. Every group we past, it looked so tempting to just go hide away for a bit haha. Eventually 3 of us finished together. Time to get my seeding sorted out...
  16. Do the corporate entries have any difference besides the price?
  17. Thanks, will try this evening again then.
  18. Managed to get a corporate entry. After payment, it tells me my team is closed, and I can't add members. Is this normal? Will it open again once all entries are sold?
  19. First your epic, now you?
  20. 100% Agree. We find sport entertaining, and, well, at least I don't find street sweeping entertaining. As we are entertained by the sport, yes, we generate an industry for the participants to make a career out of being professional athletes. As I said, I don't support the massive salaries that the top of the top get, however the average athlete within a huge revenue generating league should get their piece of the pie. I agree with much of your argument about these people not deserving more than normal humans, but then I don't think it's a sports argument, it's a general argument about bringing ALL people closer to the median salary to create equality. My argument is more about the economics of the sports industry, capitalism at it's best. Cheating and dishonesty was around long before the entertainment industry became what it is today. Competition has always been there, and the primal want to win (money, status, sporting events) has always been there, honestly or not.
  21. I guess what I mean is that it's not a choice for them, they are forced to change careers, they don't change careers based on other opportunities arising. Regarding normal career, in my argument I was referring to "Non-entertainment/sport" based careers
  22. So you don't regard someone who provides entertainment to millions of people as a value adding member of society? Yeah I don't agree that they should be earning astronomical salaries, the fact of the matter is, the pie to be distributed is massive, and those who are putting in the hard yards to provide that entertainment aren't worthy of their piece of the pie? We as consumers have pushed up the demand, and right now the rewards from that demand are shared amongst a select few. Same as a Private company earning 200% profits and only giving the executives bonus's. Professional sportsman's remuneration should be linked to the value that the provide to the business they are part of. The business they are in has big numbers to throw around, so why shouldn't they get a piece of it just because it results in a much bigger salary than the average person?
  23. The main reason I see in this is that a sports career is 5-15 years long, whereas a normal career would be 40-50 years long. No one would want to work for 5-15 years long, earning the same as a regular job, then have to begin a new career once they retire, starting from the bottom again. Sure, they can easily transition into commentary and the like, but that's only a select few, the average professional does not have this option
