  1. well as i said i'm not 100% sure of all the ins and outs, but these decisions aren't just random - they are usually dictated by finances or sponsors or some other reason that will be in the best interest of the tour
  2. i'm not sure if it's practicle to use roads from joberg to cape town or joberg - durbs -cape town or if those are the sorts of roads they want. think they specific about the ratio of mountains (composition of stage) and level of traffic they want. and i think the tour itself would battle to pay for all the flights not to mention the extra time it would add to the tour because of lost days through traveling. I'm not a roadie, so i don't know all the details, this is just what i heard from someone who is managing a team
  3. i'm pretty sure it has something to do with cost. right now they fly from joberg to george or somewhere like that. if they were visiting everywhere there would be a lot of discontinuity with flights every second day as well as the expense
  4. that's wicked - makes me want to go out and buy a trials bike if i had the cash.
  5. so what do i use to prevent ingrown hairs?
  6. um, i'm a bit clueless on the subject as i'm a mtb'er, but surely if he had doped he didn't win fair and square
  7. http://www.break.com/index/bmx-race-starts-with-ten-faceplants-1983798 haha - that's really funny
  8. nice, but you are going to have to lend me R4800 and a bike
  9. http://www.iceid.co.za/home.php
  10. i don't know if this is a silly question. do they strip the bike completly of the old paint or just spray over? how much does a coat of paint weigh?
  11. agree - he has about 2.7 million twitter followers and 1.5 million on facebook - many of those are the sorts of people who won't know about the cape epic or riders such as platt sauser etc, so the publicity for epic will be awesome
  12. i like bibs as they make me look manly
  13. it's kinnda cool - people will think you're a real hardcore mountainbiker
  14. looks like you going to have to throw it away - (ps i'm a medium)
  15. can we just clear up if you wanting to get into "trails" or "trials"? sounds like you wanting to do trials i think
  16. can you fit a shock on it?
  17. or i could be lying
  18. A "bib" is a very complex piece of equipment that you can only buy if you are part of a bicycle gang and have enough street cred. one day when you are old enough you may also be invited to learn the secrets of a "bib", but only when you are really hardcore at riding
  19. some saddles are darn uncomfortable no matter how fit your ass is - i got a planet x saddle form kiwi abour R200-R300 and it made a huge difference for me
  20. omw, imagine hitting the single-track in that thing on the weekend!
  21. i agree with the bike shop guy
  22. what about the effect of the colour of the wheels - i know different bies are faster than others. black bikes are really fast, and really clean white ones with little bits of red detail may be even faster. orange and blue are downright slow
  23. it doesn't seal very well because the air leaks very slowly out of the pores and this doesn't force the sealant into the pores - maybe seals some up but from my experience there is still leakage
  24. i meant sealant in a tube wasn't as good as in the tyre. but the sidewalls of non tubeless tires are not as thick. i ran non-tubeless conti tires as tubless and air was slowly escaping out of the thinner sidewalls - nothing that really effected me, but they had to be pumped up every few days. also you loose your sealant quicker through the thinner tire (either from more punctures that need to be sealed or minor loss through the thinner sidewalls)so you have to top-up more plus i've always found that a proper tubless tire is easier to seal, but i don't know if that's just in my mind - i haven't tried 2 of the same brand (ust and non-ust) at the same time
  25. ye sure i think a company is a totally different ball game. it needs to survive and if everyone else is paying a bribe, its not going to work for the company to not pay a bribe. i think any change will start at individual level where people's incomes are not at stake
