Just a question - what clothing do most normal people use in ironman? Because you've got the cycling (where you'd want cycling shorts) and then running, where it's not so lekker to run in cycling shorts????

Yes i full agree - I do not live close enough to justify buying an annual permit, but I wouldn't have a problem leaving my drivers licence at the ticket office while I ride with a tempory number board

slightly off topic, but I would love to see some races where everyone has to compete on the same bike - like a singlespeed postman's bike with no suspension and then we can see who really is the best biker But i'm probably just saying this because i'm not the guy with the 70k bike

Not having a day job also allows you to train harder - maybe that should be illegal too. (damit - wrong way around - was trying to find a reason to not have to go to work)

O FFS people stop trolling these threads because you have nothing better to do. I will half forgive you Simon (only 11 posts) that you obviously do not know that Johan must be one of the best mechanics in the country. There are lots of school leavers who cannot get a job - and this is an amazing opportunity to up-skill some of those people. I am sure that the candidates can contact Johan, and if they feel they are not getting enough from the offer, they do not have to accept. Can we stop this stupid arguing, and leave this thread open rather for potential candidates to see the opportunity - let them decide if the deal is fair.

Sounds a bit like motorists saying cyclists should stay off the road - not totally practical. You've got to realise that maybe the trail runners are using these trails to link up with parts of the mountain away from the "no-biking" side. I think there is also a lack of understanding of how quickly a bike is going to come around a corner onto these runners. I really don't know what the answer is, but i'm pretty sure there is no easy answer - someone or everyone is going to have to compromise.

I would say legit - but then looking at the photo, the bike still has spd cleats. (makes me wonder a little)

This has probably been posted before, but I saw it for the first time a couple of days ago. still trying to figure out how this happened. but it's a good reminder of why you shouldn't ride alone - would be a much more complicated task if you had no one else to help
