  1. I think it's a bit of both, but the cost of living is the biggest factor imo. Triathlons are already expensive with gear, travel, and entry fees—add rising costs, and it’s no surprise fewer people are signing up.
  2. Unless you have a deficiency in a key nutrient, the only thing an IV drip will do is give you expensive urine. You will literally be pouring money down the toilet.
  3. I'm not sure what the biggest advantage of a gravel bike over a mountain bike is, but I do know that for races or rides longer than 3 hours, comfort makes a big difference. Maybe it comes down to the individual ability to suffer. I did the race two years ago on my mountain bike and found the loose sand and corrugation really tough on my body. I can only imagine how difficult it would be on a gravel bike.
  4. And a light Hardtail MTB with the appropriate gearing might be the perfect bike for the race.
  5. Maybe the answer is in between. a Hardtail MTB might be the best bike for national gravel champs 😂
  6. 👍 If you click on the pic you get a high res image.

  8. Awesome video! Love the footage of the amateur racers.
  9. And that's not cool. It feels like we're getting ripped off, not just overcharged. Instead of hiking prices, we should be making cycling affordable and accessible to everyone.
  10. But I am sure most people here get the gist of it.
  11. Ripping off your customers / making a profit. From google: A business should make all the money it can using every tool at its disposal within a framework of ethics and morality. That's the profit motive. The profit motive is good when it operates within moralistic boundaries. Take away those boundaries and the profit motive becomes greed.
  12. I think we all agree with this but there is a difference between profit and greed.
  13. China effect might come with predatory pricing — selling at below cost to kill off competitors like Amazon and Temu for example.
  14. The problem is expensive bikes can deter newcomers and stunt the growth of cycling. High prices make the sport seem exclusive, turning potential riders away and keeping the community small.
  15. As someone else in this thread said, "You can only take the piss with prices for so long."
  16. To be honest I'm not worried about the weight at all. My concern with aluminum was that I'd heard it was more prone to fatigue and cracking, and that it loses its stiffness. However, this doesn't seem to be a significant issue.
  17. Is that a M/L frame, how tall are you? I am looking at buying the same bicycle. I am 178cm tall and i't looks like I can fit a M/L or L.
  18. I have the mtb if the terrain gets a bit rough. Most of the riding 80-90% will be on tar roads and 20 -10% on dirt roads.
  19. I am looking at buying a Giant Revolt. I can get both of them for almost the same price. Revolt 2 2020 - Carbon Frame with Shimano 105 Revolt 1 2022 - Aluminum frame with Shimano GRX
  20. Awesome looking bicycle! Wishing you lots of happy miles.
  21. Is it true that aluminum is more prone to fatigue and cracking over time?
  22. and don't forget the improvement to MTB tyres. We can now buy much wider tyres and that helps a lot with traction and comfort.
