  1. I like TR it is a great platform with excellent plans especially now with the adaptive training and machine learning. But a coach is worth more than just workouts and training structure. At the end of the day you get what you pay for.
  2. Recon Race will be fine but I wouldn't stress too much ride whatever you are comfortable with. Sani2c is mostly manicured trails they sweep the trails in the morning before you ride them:-)

If people can cycle unsupported from Israel to Capetown on modified road bikes I'm sure you can do the TB on a gravel bike. Might not be as easy as on a DS but if you managed the Munga Grit you're no noob and I'm sure you will be okay 🙂
  4. Agree 100% and that is the exact reason why my next long course tri will be done on a roadbile and not a TT bike. The marginal gains in time are not wort the discomfort.
  5. +1 for Trainerroad www.trainerroad.com

I think another thing to take into consideration for training is that it is not just milage but rather time in the saddle. There is a big difference between a 180kms on the road and a 180kms offroad.
  7. Does this count as a light?

I would be happy with a midpack finish, I'm no racing snake:-)
  9. I wouldn’t worry too much about the brand, rather look at the components. Fork, groupset, wheels etc…
  10. I'm almost your age a year younger and the same height. I ride a Medium hardtail. At 178cm you should fit most medium and large bikes. Definitely go for a 29er and nothing wrong with a good aluminium bike, doesn't have to be carbon.
  11. Not sure if Mankele is to far for you? It is about 3h30 from JHB. https://mankele.co.za/
  12. Well done Vetseun 💪 Most of us do these crazy things for the adventure, memories and war stories and you have ticked all of those boxes.
  13. Then you will definitely not like the whisky i drink. I like the peaty stuff.
  14. Mostly the Americans and Irish. I prefer whisky :-)
  15. ha, definitely not me.
  16. I'm in, will have to do some of the kms on the IDT. 62.5km a day over 8 consecutive days during the festive season sound easy 🙂
  17. hahah... 100% If you want to flash those Euros at least buy him a nice Single Malt.
  18. ... and people on the Hub like to argue just for the sake of arguing 🙂

I'm thinking of entering Race to the Sun as well looks like an awesome event but I don't think you can compare it to the TB. Flat as a pancake only about a 1000m of climbing over a 160 kms.

    Attakwas 2022

I think 5 weeks should be enough if you have a decent base but if you are starting fresh you might be in trouble 🙂

    Attakwas 2022

Who knows, things change so quickly but I think it will go ahead. Infection rate is up but the death rate is very low.
