  1. Its a political press statement, made by a political party, to achieve a political end. Try not to get too caught up in it. The bike lanes are not going to be taken away.
  2. Ok sorry Indigo kid just realized you in Alberton, not Western Cape so Claremont dischem not such a bright idea on my part.
  3. try the Claremont dischem. I see there is a nice label on the lid - a warning to pro athletes not to use. I downloaded the WADA Pdf file on banned substances last night. And there is is.. the 1.3dimethlyhexamyaline. (Think thats the correct spelling) And anybody know why Beta blockers would be banned for snow boarders?
  4. I think the term "Racist" is used and abused. It gets worked into conversations as an empty, yet covertly aggressive means of casting a shadow of doubt onto the second parties intentions. It is too easy to misuse the word. I also think that being called a racist is, in itself, racist, in that the speaker is making a judgment call based on the race of the receiver.
  5. become a real cyclist - ie - a roadie! or if you near western cape try circle cycles, in fish hoek. Speak to Tess.
  6. Perhaps the OTC label means that the amount of a substance per pre-measured recommended dose is way below the amount that would be considered illegal by the UCI and/or WADA. Will do some research into this - may be interesting to see if this applies to other substances.
  7. Got a sample from a guy at work.
  8. @raflos. how many doses/days/months use lead to depression? Are you referring to an acute post upper crash? How large was that dose? And are you sensitive to other products like for example caffeine?
  9. I believe it is on the WADA zero tolerance list. Methyhexaneamine. Google'd it and it comes up as less CNS stimulant that methamphetimine. Also states tha use should be cycled to prevent toxic build up and/or addiction. Also used as "safe party drub" in New Zealand. Authorities considering to make it a controlled substance for general population. (ie non sports people). Presently its a Over The Counter (OTC) product. Which is fine for non professional sportsman. Here's the thing ... I tried some yesterday and could feel the surge in energy levels. It's got potential for some explosive power on the bike. BUT.... is it legal for guys at my level? Would use be more of a moral dilemma than a risk of a ban for breaching professional codes of ethics? And is it worth it in terms of health issues? Very similar effects to a USN product Nitric Oxide. Any comments?
  10. Anybody out there heard of a product called Jack3d? Have you tried it as a pre or during workout fuel, and is it any good?
  11. Hey Colnago what time must you leave JHB to get to the start line on time?
  12. @Willehond that seems to be happening alot and many riders are getting strange seedings. I got B. Happy with that. Not riding league cause I work shifts so VA out for me. Anyway I rode VA for Die Burger. Had the amazing experience of being the first to get spat out the back going up Hels. Regrouped at the top with some other sufferers but the main pack was gone with the wind. Those guys are super fast riders; many with lotsa racing kilometers in their legs. I have got four years riding after many years of partying so "B" is good in the bigger picture.
  13. "I shave my legs. I shave my arms. I shave my head, but I leave the hair on my palms. For that is pleasure and bliss, and as foreplay make a fist, then give it a kiss!" Mondo Beck. 1989.
  14. french fries. as in electrocuted French bike thieves on the electric chair. Can I a Le big mac with that?
  15. Just saw in latest bicycling Zipp 404 full carbon clinchers @R15 000. Can this be true? So they are aero and convenient when ya get a puncture. I ride american classic RD440's at the moment for training and racing. I just change the tyres for racing. But I really, really, really, really really, (Add many more here...) WANT a set of Zipp 404's. (for racing) Every night I whisper Zipp 404 into my wifes ears as she falls asleep. Sometimes she wakes up and asks me WTF am I talking about. I just smile and say not to worry it will all make sense soon. LOL. Maybe towards the end of this year this will come true.
  16. Chiro might be an option. After proper bike set-up.
  17. Hey Mintsauce I just checked out your Avatar. Very, very cool. And oh so dark! I like!
  18. A very good point Mintsauce! I know I feel like the hero when I watch a Hero Movie. But after the movie I return to reality. And reality is not a movie. There are massive, often fatal, consequences to people's actions. The Police (yes the apathetic ones) actually advise not putting up a fight. I imagine its difficult even for a trained and armed person to retaliate to a surprise attack. An individual would have to be in a constant state of aggressive arousal. And have weapons cocked and ready for a counter attack. Witch is kinda like a militarized society. Which is, at least to me, a pretty scary state. (think Israel/Palestine) Having said that - I don't want to loose my bike to a F**knut thief. Or loose a loved one. Or hear of anybody else loosing a loved one. To a F**knut of any description. Oh what to do? What to do?
  19. Allow me to share with you that I have seen, first hand, the end result of violent crime. And also the apathy of those standing around the victims. This includes the Police. The apathy is worse if the victim is homeless, or is a foreign national. SA, and in fact the world, is overloaded with violence and aggression. Many humans live in self-centered and stressed out bubbles. They have little to no interest in the problems of strangers. They prefer consciousness oblivion to compassion. And the motorist that we expect to rush to our aid is the same motormouth who bitches and complains about "arrogant cyclists", and who might just actually prefer to run us over and not the bike-jacker. Its a freaking dangerous sport this Road Riding. On so many levels. You gotta love it!
  20. Taking a stand is the foundation of a civilized society.
  21. From which culture were the hi/bikejackers? Can a secondary assault/murder as an attempt to assist be accepted by the law? From which culture was the female cyclist? Have you seen the lanes in the Pardon Eiland section? (Now thats isolated in the early morning) Why do f**knuts insist on continuing a culture of take, through any means, that which does not lawfully belong to them? Can I stab a bike-jacker in the throat and watch as he drowns on his own blood? Or will that make me no better than him?
  22. I love the java bean so will try it out.
  23. CAN I BORROW A CUP OF BROWN SUGAR?
  24. got a set of R440's and love em. Sure the sprints are also a good wheelset. I weigh 71.5kg. Had the rear hub serviced once. They spin easily, climb well and have stayed true. Small amount of flex when climbing so if you like your brakes set tight you may experience brake-pad rub, but I think the sprints will flex less, if at all. They are light wheels, and are very cost effective - give alot of bang for your buck. They are good training and racing wheels. You can just change tyres for those races that you wanna fly.
  25. I like the frame shape. Very aesthetically pleasing.
