  1. Some real good answers here. As a Ladies Team owner, i would like to see my riders getting good prize money. There are currently simply not enough ladies on the startline, to start demanding anything from any event organisor. What maybe should happen is the following: 1. Free entry for 1st time lady licence holders, at all cycle events in SA. The entry fees should be paid by CyclingSA. I think cycling development is about just getting poor black kids on bikes. Entry fee should be paid in the second year. 2. This will increase the female rider numbers. 3. The cost of cycling, if you think of a average size family of 4, could cost at least R450.00 per race. If you let the wives and young girls ride for free, the number will diff increase 4. Once we get the numbers up, then can we now ask for more prize money. my 5cents

    WTF..?

    Popcorn time
  3. I also just got back from the launch. The new finish will be a huge talking point. We do not finish on the main road anymore. At the robot, you turn left into the Waterfall Park, down a steepish hill, then turn right towards the finish. The finish is on a slight incline. The organisors look jacked as usual.
  4. I am kinda worried about some of the comments on this post. Most of us have never or will never go to a soccer match in SA. Does the sound really matter to us ? Who cares if a person wants to blow that thing for 90mins ? If they are allowed at a soccer match, what can you do about, nothing. If the head of world soccer has given it the go ahead, just let it go. There are far more important things in SA to worry about, than some silly plastic horn. More importantly, do we have jobs at the end of month. I once went past a soccer stadium in Brazil, it sound like a bomb had just gone off. The fans beat huge drums for hours. Fire crackers going off. When last have you heard of soccer violance in SA ? Or for that matter, any sport.
  5. I know of guys who use to motorpace trucks from Hilton, down to PMB. These old boys use to do this on track bikes.
  6. Ladies Podium 1st - An-Li 2nd - Yolande 3rd - Altie
  7. Hi all, A friend from Pmb, asked me to repair his Scott CR1 frame. Can you guys please point me in the right direction ?
  8. Go check what Boswell Wilkie Circus use on their elephants.
  9. okay Grey, let me show you a very cool Colnago i saw on the Selvino.
  10. I was asked by some of the officials to take a rider to drug testing. Well, just my luck it was Sam Hill. What a cool guy. He asked me was his name drawn "random again". I asked why ? He laughed and said his name always some how get drawn. What was nice as well, he gave loads of stuff away to kids, who came to his pits. More interesting info i gained from his team owner. Their team budget for two downhill riders is just over $500K for 2009. He remarked that is was expensive for them to come to SA.
  11. We can do something on Sunday or after the cross country. Pmb is our valley, Joanna and I. We can have a op skop.
  12. I will be there. I am helping two cross country riders (Ivonne Kraft and Inbar Ronen). It blows my mind that Pietermaritzburg, is far more active in wanting events like the World Cup than bigger cities like Cape Town. It must be huge in terms of tourism for the city. Well done to Mr Haswell.
  13. What price would it cost a ou if he hired the Motorhome, bought the 4 pairs of Assos Shorts and all the other crap.
  14. You guys need a camera, good luck. Just please dont get PPA or the Argus organisors to man a camera on the finishline. They all see things very differently from you and me.
  15. Turtlek ... with no camera on the line' date=' I would think the best decision would have been to award 1st place to both Anriette and Jenny?[/quote'] Turtlek, .........that's what I asked them to do. Then again, remember who sponsors the races which are seeding events for the Argus .............Alpha Pharm..............mmmmmmm Jenny is sponsored by Alpha Pharm..... Can you hear the CSI music playing in the back ground.
  16. I decide to race 30+ Cruiser at Giba yesterday. Last time i raced was about 9 or 10 years ago. It was the first time I had been to Giba. Wow. What a venue ? There were kids everywhere on bikes. All sorts of bikes as well. See some pictures below.
  17. Sorry i missed this post earlier. I also can't understand why no camera's were in place at the Biggest Race in South Africa. Yes they awarded the race win on a shadow. What was totally missed, was the fact that Jenny was behind the second Boss Logistics and not the first. The judges used the second Boss Logistic's rider shadow and not Jenny's. If you look at the four shadows, the forth shadow is actually Jenny's. Anyway, i hope they have camera's next year.
  18. Yes Jo is great person (Joanna on the left and Sanet on the right). Her flight was delayed so she missed the function.
  19. Hi Slowbee, Thanks for attending. Yes but Sunday's races is going to be interesting. We race with the 40+ Men. The bunch is going to be huge, plenty crashes and some bad words will be exchanged among the ladies and the men. So it's gum guard time No I dont have a tent at the finish. We have been invited to a few of the teams co-sponsor's tents to make appearances.
  20. Thanks for the pictures Ronelle
