We were changed extra when the my team flew to the Tour of New Zealand. The funny thing was, the Lions Rugby team was on the same flight. These guys are huge. So Cherise questioned, why we were been changed and rugby dudes not.

I had a go at MyRace................ I got hold of Justin and he sorted out my team's registration 100%. Thanks once again Justin. Where the delay come, you have to belong to a club first before you apply for a licence.

Anton....... A word of advice. Be very carefull of who you get to ride for you. You need to have a code of conduct in place. Riders in SA have very little respect for sponsors. Then you have the officials ................ hmmmmmmm......... Good luck with your venture.

This whole Cradle story is bullsh*t. I grew up in a country where my parents could not go to certain places because of the colour of their skin. There is no way in hell some bakkie driving lot are going to tell me where i should ride my bicycle. I bought it. I will ride it on any public road in the SA. Until it's crimal offence to ride my bicycle on that piece of road, I am going to ride..................

The younger riders normally have parents who also take part. I want all age cats to be rewarded.

Walker, i have to agree with you here. They had this huge rig (massive truck) for what ? With some silly "american sounding" guy who could not pronouce any SA names. WTF................Come on They wasted so much time on *** MTN games instead of getting the prize giving sorted. It would not have cost them anything to call up all the age cat winners, before the Elite Men and Elite Ladies. I think the organisors have lost the plot with what brings back the riders to an event.

Hmmmmmmm....... Some good comments boys. I agree with most them. Yes you might think it's a bit strange coming from a Ladies Team owner. There are simply not enough teams, who can give riders a chance. It is very difficult to win races without a team. Therefore many rider lose interest and give up. We need clubs to form small 5 rider teams. There are some good riders, who just need that extra motivation. Organisors should rather pay down to, say 15th place. Even if it's R50.00. There is nothing like standing on the podium along side riders like Cherise, Anriette or Merissa. Or for guys, Nic, Daryl or Mel. This will improve the racing and make it worth while for Event Organisors to put up the money. So i say, reduce the winners payout, but pay more places.

Big yawn................................. Guys cycling clubs are way overated. You pay to ride with someones logos all over your body..............Go buy a plain black bib shorts and a white cycling jersey. I like the Assos payoff line........."sponsor yourself" You bought your bike, you ride it when you and where you want to ride it, provided you respect other on and off road users. Just find a mate or two who is entertaining, I have Pantini.

I think the problem at Cycling SA is money. I don't want to sound political at all, but CyclingSA needs a person of colour, to head up the organisation. There are a few people at CSA, who really go out of their way to make the organisation work to the best of their ability. The so-called outstanding money from Govt and Lotto will come in a lot easier. It's just a way of life in SA which we need to accept. Please i am not saying get anyone off the street.

Who was the event organisor or club ?

Some real good answers here. As a Ladies Team owner, i would like to see my riders getting good prize money. There are currently simply not enough ladies on the startline, to start demanding anything from any event organisor. What maybe should happen is the following: 1. Free entry for 1st time lady licence holders, at all cycle events in SA. The entry fees should be paid by CyclingSA. I think cycling development is about just getting poor black kids on bikes. Entry fee should be paid in the second year. 2. This will increase the female rider numbers. 3. The cost of cycling, if you think of a average size family of 4, could cost at least R450.00 per race. If you let the wives and young girls ride for free, the number will diff increase 4. Once we get the numbers up, then can we now ask for more prize money. my 5cents

I also just got back from the launch. The new finish will be a huge talking point. We do not finish on the main road anymore. At the robot, you turn left into the Waterfall Park, down a steepish hill, then turn right towards the finish. The finish is on a slight incline. The organisors look jacked as usual.

I am kinda worried about some of the comments on this post. Most of us have never or will never go to a soccer match in SA. Does the sound really matter to us ? Who cares if a person wants to blow that thing for 90mins ? If they are allowed at a soccer match, what can you do about, nothing. If the head of world soccer has given it the go ahead, just let it go. There are far more important things in SA to worry about, than some silly plastic horn. More importantly, do we have jobs at the end of month. I once went past a soccer stadium in Brazil, it sound like a bomb had just gone off. The fans beat huge drums for hours. Fire crackers going off. When last have you heard of soccer violance in SA ? Or for that matter, any sport.

I know of guys who use to motorpace trucks from Hilton, down to PMB. These old boys use to do this on track bikes.
