  1. Classic case of driver impatience / can’t-give-aphuqniss. That could so easily have ended in tragedy and just as easily have been avoided. It appears easier to gain a PDP than finish the fun ride world champs short route.
  2. Totally and completely wrong, but hey you can have your opinion. bring your boys over to the fun ride world champs and show us how to ride single file on the left of a tight twisty and steep descent <got the popcorn pop warming up>
  3. Measure your foot length (both left and right) and the width. place a sheet of paper against a wall in your home. stsnd on the sheet of paper with your heel against the wall and the paper edge also against the wall. drawn an outline of your feet left and right trying to trace the outline as close to your feet as possible. measure the length of your feet from the heel to The longest toe and record the measurements for both feet. measure the width of your feet across the boney outside of the little toe to the outside of the knuckle of your large toe above the ball of your foot. post the data here
  4. The only time a needed a reaming was when I thought that maybe I should get a S-Works so I asked Hambini for advise …. inhave several slug plugs and have never needed the reamer. They don’t come with one because the plugger just works. I have the one stored in the bar. It’s dual sided ; a small plugger for road tyres and a larger plugger for Mtb tyres. I have modified one for a smaller road punctures. They just work. The reamer might be useful with e-bike tyres where the casing is thick and you want to get a good quality hole to insert the plug into. I needed my slug plug on Tuesday night after running over a nail that went through the top and out of the side above the bead. The thin plugger fixed the bead puncture and the thicker plugger sorted the tread plug. don’t need anything fancier IME
  5. Can’t read it without a subscription
  6. hence i surf without anything. fortunately i'm far sighted
  7. I don't know, but it is an issue for me. even when surfing, salt water splashing in my eyes is initially a problem. Once exposed for a few seconds the burning sensation goes away. I can afford that during a paddle out but i cant afford it when hurtling down singletrack and sweat drops onto my eye ball
  8. compatible with Peak and Vantage II
  9. we compare our environment to Europe and not Africa. Still, if the general driving population want to live in European type environment then they should accept that bicycles are big part of that. Instead we apply selective desires. We want empty roads for fast cars and no cops sp we can drink and drive but we want the state polices because we don;t want the other side wandering around our neighbourhoods making us feel unsafe.
  10. I'm using the D'Arcs Peak and Vantage II with the optical insert fram. The insert is cheap but the trifocal lens from the optometrist were nearly R5k. So not cheap but they work for me. I've tried the soft contacts but getting them into my eyes is a real problem. Also if i get sweat into my eye the slat in the sweet irritates my eye ball and I have to remove the contacts
  11. Driver is a ducking funt. End of story
  12. Taxis will claim it
  13. aren't they always...? I mean its their responsibility to allow a passing vehicle to overtake safety even when the line is solid and the speed limit is 20km/hr
  14. Lube the slider with a few drops of 5w40 engine oil or if you have fork lube use that. Unscrew the wiper seal collar and lube underneath the wiper seal (After cleaning in there first with an ear bud dipped in oil). slide the wiper collar up and down a few times and refit it. this should now force enough oil down into the post to lube the shaft
  15. You may want to go shopping for a Cannondale F-Si hardtail frame with Ai drivetrain offset. This is in effect a 55mm chainline on a 142mm hub spacing, This opens up possibilities of fitting different offset chainrings and tweaking chain line before the chainring really starts to limit your choices. Newer 55m CL hardtails have the chainstay to BB junction widened for additional tyre clearance and its here where the chainring sizes start to be limited quite a lot. You can mitigate a poor chainline somewhat by running the chain length as long as is possible and sort out the chainslap with a foam rubber bumper on the stay, If you limit the cassette size to 45/46 then you also are not as constrained by the chainline the smaller your cassette bail out gear. A 2x set up IMO is the best solution on an Ai frame because it has enough clearance due to the drivetrain clearance.
  16. Well the single file thing is debatable because one could be passing the other or they’re using / owning the road to ensure a motorist doesn’t try a stupid overtake way above the 20km/hr speed limit on that section.
  17. And hefty fines
  18. Surprised? Not
  19. Runners shouldn’t be there for starters. impatient driver… let me guess…some hail adriver service?
  20. There are very very few convictions and when there are the sentence is very light. any box can get a drivers license, even one or many without RSA residents permits. i present to You the mini bus taxi industry and hail-a-drive activities. 60/60 and other motorbike delivery services. yet a cyclist assessing the risk and then proceeding to cycle through a red light attracts more vitriol than a soccer mum driving her fortuna with one hand , coffee between her legs and make up In the other hand while running a red light is just another suburban hero. show me an accident involving a bicycle and motor vehicle where the driver accepted responsibility….
  21. This discussion isn’t relevant. the issues at play are; a) no accountability is applied to motorists in these incidents. They are viewed by society as the victim rather than thE perpetrators. In nearly every case they are at fault . Duty of care rests with the passing vehicle but this is seldom observed. b) no protection to vulnerable road users under the law. c) cyclists who observe the law are still at very high risk because the lawlessness that incurs the maximum damage rests with the mororised community. nothing else is relevant, not even a cyclist running a red light because motorists do the the same and more
  22. Leaving the scene should be upgraded to first degree murder. Then you’re in for 25 years to life
  23. Sounds like Francois killer has been arrested in Villiersdorp late on Saturday. A common tactic to sober up before handing themselves in or being caught
