  1. Cannot answer your question, since i dont recall flying with either of mine, but the SWB would have been way easier than the LWB, SWB with a wheel off, and the ‘boom’ retracted for travel, is much less unwieldily than a LWB. Keen to hear if you OWN one, and what it is? (I had a LWB LINEAR alu recumbent, u/s steering, and a SWB HP Velotechnic Street Machine, and would be easier to fly with USS/SWB bike. Both are still here, somewhere in SA; i think i regret selling them!
  2. True, but to quote the article: “As I said, we’ve seen this sort of tech before in Fox’s Live Valve system. You could even argue that Specialized’s longstanding Brain suspension system has been doing the same thing for over a decade, only without electronics.” All interesting, none-the-less. I could see how a Brain-equipped Gravel bike could be a very affordable way of achieving what the up-to-7 battery Flight Attnedant system, with all the attendant costs, does… Cheers Chris
  3. I actually thought he had a decent go at answering you, Bub? No matter, I cannot help feel that an old Spez ‘Brain*’ shock (front & rear) equipped drop bar and gearing-optimized / converted MTB would tick a few boxes, for a gravel bike to do the more gnarly gravel… *(…lynch him / burn him / he is a heretic / he mentioned ‘Brain-equipped’… ) ….and i can get near as much aero, pretty much, on SQ Labs inner/ends on an MTB flatbar, than i can on a drop bar bike, and it results in WAY less head-movement, etc.
  4. I use Crank Brothers Egg Beaters, and one of the 3 sets has ‘Teal-ish’ springs that accent the plain pedal body. See colour HERE: https://row.crankbrothers.com/products/eggbeater-3?country=row&setstore=1 Cheers, Chris
  5. I think importing a USED/2nd-hand, (even though its custom) recumbent, could have a major effect on duties, etc, will let others more knowledgeable chime in, but even a ‘demo’ model would help you with duties, i think?
  6. Nice; quick, clear, unambiguous info; gotta LOVE this Forum! Cheers
  7. It has exactly 12cm of total ‘strap’ length, but the concave upper parts, whilst not round, is not exactly flat, either; I reckon it has at most a 50/50 chance of working. DM me yr WA number for 2 pics:
  8. I feel the FLEXIBLE Ravemen handlebar mount has enough space to go around a flat bar, since i need to potentially cut a massive ‘excess strap’, off, could measure it for you, since i have not yet cut it… Ravemen are being re-introduced by Cape Cycle Systems, in the coming weeks… Shout if you want me to measure the strap for you? Cheers, Chris
  9. My only suggestion regarding Gilet is that i prefer a Gilet that is near-wind-proof on the FRONT, but heaps of VENTING on the side, or back, or a bit of both. The (human) back is a LARGE sweat area, and the wind MOSTLY comes from the front, so high venting around the back works wonders, for me, YMMV.
  10. …and now that it IS being shown, imagine if say a 100 of us THANK (work with me, here!) after-the-fact, it MAY resonate with them! Yeh, it againt RUGBY viewership numbers, i get it, but i am going to drop them a post-decision ‘Thanks’ for making a difference.
  11. I feel my own converted bike is in with a shout for ‘fugly’….
  12. A VERY big thanks to MarcW who dropped of 2x Ravemen mounts, for me to,use, that were surplus to his needs; much appreciated, and enjoy the vino. Thanks, Chris

  14. Yes, and no! Supposing the OP d-o-e-s look after his drivetrain as you (rightly) suggest, THEN the question is STILL bang-for-buck, his question remains…. We know of the law(s) of diminishing returns, that an XT (or Ultegra/Road) would be way ‘better’ than say and entry level (Tiagra) Groupo, but that something like Dura Ace is only slightly ‘better’ than XT, at a way- higher price-point… or what…?
  15. Coimbra Cycles in George, and Olympic Cycles in Claremont, have both placed ordered for Ravemen lights, and i can get my 2 extra handlebar mounts for N+1, so a win-win; happy with that! Chris
  16. Some good news: chatted to Lloyd, at Cape Cycle Systems, this morning, and they have agreed to bring in 30-odd Ravemen lights - immediately - as well as some spares, so excellent news for myself (handlebar mounts) as well as others questioning availability, above! "Hi Chris, We have just placed an order for Ravemen with 30 light brackets of each model for the lights we bring in (as well as 30 lights, etc). Regards Lloyd"
  17. Hi - I have a new RAVEMEN light that I WON, so unsure who SELLS them, a search leaves me empty handed... Looking for 2 more light MOUNTS (only the mounts) since this light is so good, it may become my 'forever' light...! https://www.ravemen.com/product-reviews/251.html Cannot find a local distributor - anyone got any ideas, before I try importing 2x? thanks Chris 072 211 7725
  18. Harsh; there are a few who go the extra mile…. see what happens, and THEN ‘dis them, if you must; presently you are mentally setting yourself up for failure. Cheers Chris
  19. I am looking for SHORTY aluminium race-bike mudguards, for a vintage bike I use, partly to achieve ‘the look’, but also for Winter riding. Cheers, Chris
  20. Purchased 3 x Castrol & STP shirts (non cycling related), an innovative bell for one bike (since I am not a clean-handlebar purist!) and a cross-bar stash bag for another bike. Despite reservations, product arrived quickly, probably exceeded my expectations, and am happy, all this for VERY LITTLE money. 1st timer with Temu, and I am happy.
  21. In all truth, we did not KNOW what an influencer was in 2006 - true story!

  24. It was just a fun giggle! Ignore if it offends you! Test-driving cars, and bikes and bicycles is COMMONPLACE; helmets, not so much… Cheers Chris
  25. One should always TEST before buying. You gave me an idea… On my next trip to Woolies, am going to ask if I can TEST a pair of underpants around the block, to CHECK for comfort, since they COULD pinch, etc. Cheers!
