Sadly, you have lost respect for their race / ethnicity for the behaviour of a select few individuals that have hurt you. It may be hard not to generalise and create a bias towards a racial group; always try not to. That is how hatred is born. And that only caps your humanity. This is also a message and reminder to myself as I live in a world that is so polarised and absent of compassion. You are safe, that matters most. Thank you, peetwindhoek. I must've not heard your call in all the buzz. I am a very lucky man to have two legs, a body and a sound mind that can still be active and perform after the March incident. It took some surgery, 3 months off the bike to heal up soft tissue wounds, lots of physio, and overcoming PTSD to get back to the sport. I cried a few times behind the sunglasses, hey. With joy. With gratitude. With pride. For this Life.

Being an entrepreneur is like riding a lion and wondering what day it will throw you off its back and eat you.

What a privilege to roll this event after 10 years of hiatus. The South African spirit or ‘gees’ at its most beautiful best - from volunteers to the local community welcoming the cycling community, to the tired smiles of my teammates over the spitbraai supper.
