  1. The wind gods are angry. Have never seen this before during a Festive 500 challenge:
  2. The secret to long living is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure. - Tibetan proverb
  3. Both are sufficient for your needs and metrics, man. The very face that you ask the question and have even created a poll suggests to me that you desire the Ultra 2. I have a Garmin Fenix 6. My next purchase will definitely be the Ultra. The other Apple watches are great design profiles for women.
  4. Challenge accepted, Sweeties! 3 endurance ride to more or less complete it, allowing for family time on alternative days. My son’s birthday is also on the 31st. Birthdays are holy days at home. No legs will be thrown over any saddle on these days. 24th: 120er, incl. 75% of the Argus route; 26th: 140er, Durbanville - Rooi Els - Durbanville, at this point. The wind, heat and self-discipline to stay in zone 2 will be the performance challenges.
  5. As the southern winds swirl around the Cape Peninsula for several weeks now, I miss Mediterranean mornings like this:
  6. Big news from the nr 1 ranked team in the world for 2023: Giro d'Italia organisers RCS Sport have confirmed that two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar will be making his debut at the Italian Grand Tour next May. Sauce: CyclingNews / Pogačar’s Instagram
  7. Always interesting with the legend that is LeMond.
  8. The man that goes up the mountain and the man that comes back down from the mountain is not the same man.
  9. 2024: UAE kit more white; Bahrain-Victorious turns into white; Ineos Grenadiers blends their training orange into their deep red race colours. And Bora' adds a slice of lemon. Some changes in kit sponsor too. EF-Easy Post, stiek yt.
  10. Who will challenge Demi Vollering? Great pic by Thomas Maheaux.
  11. Never ever hit the snooze button, Cupcakes. You know you only feel worse afterwards, mos.
  12. “Never let anyone - any person or any force - dampen, dim or diminish your light” - John Lewis
  13. 05h57: Simone wakes up the serpents.
  14. I can imagine that you were adrenalized and psychologically aroused after your interval session. You also shared here recent absolutely frightening experiences on the road (see here predisposed sympathetic nervous system that is in fight, flight or freeze mode) that might have led to your low impulse control, aggressive reaction and fury. You are only human, man. I feel for you as cycling is intended to bring in joy, relaxation, meaning, connection to the Great Outside, as well as the other million reasons we roll. Now, it has escalated into a few experiences of real disharmony and angst. However, the best way to manage conflict or a potential war situation is to not have war at all. My bottom line to you: Protect your inner peace at all costs. Remember your ‘Why’. See pic. Sterkte, Bru. 💟
  15. Out-of-office auto reply: "Gone training in the hills."
  16. Brrrrr! Basemiles for Gee, after signing for another two years. He turned 37 this year and performed very well this season. Maybe he will flex in the Classics as well?

    The Munga 2023

With your disclosure and transparency on your credentials and experience, this thread can weigh your expert opinion more fittingly then. What we all have in common here is love for this tough sport. An important reference point for me and, as per BikeHub community rules and guidelines, being lekka, as opposed to patronising, is highly valued. Bring on your technical input. 😎

    The Munga 2023

Let us not conflate doing the Munga with having an exclusive knowledge on aerodynamics in cycling, Bru. One of the paradoxes in drafting is that even the front rider benefits from having someone on his or her rear tyre, depending on wind conditions. As someone mentioned, drafting has significant psychological benefits even if there is minuscule drafting benefit. The emotional comfort from sharing the road after many hours of toil cannot be measured. On a related note, I just wish all those who have entered the safest of passage and with no long-term damage to their physiology and psyche.
