  1. I still haven't gotten around to buying a stand, however my hack is car in garage bike rack on car, hang bike on rack... :-) I still haven't learnt how to post pics otherwise I would have posted a pic...
  2. True to some extent, however I always seem to break one finger.... My wife seems to find it funny when I come back inside with powder all over my hands and one dirty finger, and the joke goes... Where have you been putting that finger??? So not funny anymore!
  3. Bought a TT bike from a friend missus brought it back from me. I was super excited to get that bad boy up and running... NOTE TO SELF: Switch the lights on, yes it was light but then it gets dark! In my excitement I split the tube! Eventually ended up paying a frame builder close to where I lived to weld up etc.... Moerse fail! I was advised to sand down and smooth the weld out but I asked him to leave it as is so it's a reminder of how flippen stupid I can be.
  4. LMAO Like my wife's friend, they talking to each other on the phone, the friend is packing up her **** and all of a sudden starts shouting... Someones stolen my phone I can't find it anywhere... the wife is shouting it's in your hand it's in your hand! Didn't have to work abs at gym that day... I had my work out right there!
  5. Ever do that thing where you put a tool in your pocket and then walk around the garage looking for the tool you swear you PUT down here a few mins ago?
  6. Years ago my buddy and I were our own mechanics. Anyhoo, he'd been having bearing trouble and I mean serious trouble, fit new ones two weeks later the same thing. So the Friday evening we put on some tunes and we go on stripping and he takes out the old ones and the bearing cage has completely deformed so he cleans out greases the new bearings up and replaces them and I take a look and say stop. I asked if this is the way he'd been fitting them all the time and he says yes proudly... Turns out he'd been fitting them "back to front" it didn't line up and he just thought he needed to tighten it to bed in properly!
  7. Earlier today I sent the missus a 12 week program which I got off 220 Tri... her response... YOU CAN DO IT... I guess I can't argue or shouldn't argue with the wife then? I also emailed our conversation to myself, so should I ever need it in black and white I have it!
  8. I was in PE the week before Ironman this year (my timing sucked!) Was there for the start of the SA Lifesaving champs and man was I pissed off. Every corner you turned there some IM related poster, seeing the folks doing their taper runs on the beach :-(
  9. Awesome, love the story. Do you feel you would not have achieved your medal if you had NOT joined Tissing Training?
  10. Much appreciated guys! I'm at 90% now that I'm going to do it. I'll just find a few more Inspirational, motivational type videos on Youtube ;-)
  11. I've actually resigned or stepped down as the Chairperson of "Team Winging It" so yes I have started training but for other events and I'm aware of the Ramp Up time. I'll have a look at trainingpeaks and also 220 Triathlon, I have a mate who's also very keen on doing it but he's the "Let's go full retard" type and then pulls out with weeks to go. I've got till the end of October to get my **** in order right?? :-)
  12. Thinking of entering but to be honest I'm scared, not really sure what I'm scared of though? I know I can do those distances and I've started training for CT Marathon and Cape Ultra, I've spoken to the missus who is supportive (already put it in the family calendar). I know it's a lonely rd to be out training when it's dark and cold. I will be away from the wife and daughters and they already ask when I'll be back if I go out for a gym session/run/cycle. Is there anything else I should think about before I enter? PS this has been on my "To do list" for about 10 years now. it's never been the right time and I doubt it ever will so before I turn 40 I want to do it but I can't go in half arsed.
  13. Contact some Cape Town (Tableview) based clubs and they could ride with you all the way into the Waterfront? It would mean a safety in numbers scenario? If the dates are good, I would defo be up for a ride like that?
  14. I feel the same way about the M5 being a decent road to cycle on because of that wide shoulder. I haven't been on there for a very long time because of a conversation I had with a club member but anyway.... If I get the chance to commute again then I'll probably use it. Less stress going through Claremont, Rondebosch with traffic and aunties (and some uncles) putting on make up, posting on FB or having breakfast whilst driving ....
  15. I entered the 22km, 50km would have been too much for my buddy so I rode with him all the way. Kudo's to the guy who nearly wiped out in the mud, not sure why the kid in front of him hit anchors but holy **** would he have been pissed off had he went into that mud patch face first!
  16. Well done, I was standing next to you when you guys registered. Hopefully when my girls are a bit bigger they'll join me too.
  17. The platform you're trying to sell on won't publish the add cause you can't have a "bargain in mint condition". You'll get a message from the administrator to say that some text in your ad has been rejected, please edit your ad and submit for publishing.
  18. Glad you are ok! Driver of the car? Taking responsibility??????????? There are soooo many swear words running through my head right now but I'm trying not to be labelled as a potty mouth. Again glad you're ok. When are motorists going to realise that the more cyclists there are on the road the less traffic we will have in the city? I'd love to commute, my wife and daughters are even thinking of cycling with them to school in the summer (I still have to work out the route though. The last bit for myself and the wife will be Rondebosch main to Obs/Salt River which we can handlle.
  19. LMAO no screaming off for me at all! I'll try and finish in sub 6, I honestly just want to finish this Ultra. Good Luck with the Macmac 100 Miler.. Actually WTF dude??? Much respect, hope that goes well too!
  20. Don't stay **** like that to me, I'm dumb enough to accept the challenge! lol Good luck, hope the training went well?
  21. I winged a qualifying time in the Sanlam marathon then it seemed like a good idea to enter the Ultra cause that's what you do innit... Then life happened and training didn't :-(
  22. I'd like to join but my dumbass has decided to run the Ultra this year. I need new friends... Friends don't let friends enter stupid events like long running events, triathlons, long swims and all the other dumb **** I enter.....
  23. Anyone doing the Langebaan Race this weekend?
  24. Awesome stuff, the Cape Ultra has a trail route with a few inclines I'd much prefer the flat street course.
