  1. Bumped into him at the local PnP a few days ago and we chatted about it then. Said he was gonna give it some thought and see what comes up. Kinda like the idea of some guerilla type sticker effort and we mark out a few specific meeting points... Nothing stopping us from getting this going ourselves....
  2. Tumbleweed said... To the left or to the right? I feel this is a weak argument as I prefer to go up and down....
  3. Bump.... BUMP??
  4. REPLY....
  5. The Scott trumps them so far. Seriously good value with all the extras he is throwing in. Surprised that has not been sold yet....

  7. The real question now is: How many readers of this thread have taken a new perspective on their actions out on the bike since participating here?? This could be a worthwhile post!

    Argus 2014

This post is good enough to have it's own thread ScottDude!
  9. Well done annica. Not only have you managed to arrive at this here thehub as a complete noobie, but you posted a highly controversial viewpoint and despite numerous efforts at descending into a name calling tirade by a few of the responders I think you have handled getting your opinion across superbly. I do not share your opinion on all the viewpoints you have raised, but would nonetheless like to say GOOD JOB in how you have handled yourself. Hope to see your input in some other threads too! Welcome!
  10. Really depends mostly on the situation. We each have to live with our own safety as the primary goal in mind and then our conscious with how our actions are perceived. The traffic light to turn into Black River Parkway off Liesbeek Parkway is a light I always jump both ways. Either side of this light the road shoulder narrows and this stretch is a highway for the golden arrow bus crew to get back to their terminus. I do it to get ahead of the buses through the section where they always come by barreling at pace with no let up and squeeze at the same time. Always do a sprint interval to get through this bit as quick as I can. I have no issues stopping at lights when any other vehicles are within sight and take the opportunity to keep improving my track stand, as well as look other motorists dead in the eye whilst wearing my best smile, so that they can see I am a human and not some alien visiting from another planet. Always get more consideration further down the road from this goodwill.
  11. Sent Admin a PM with a suggestion. Lets see what he says when he gets it...
  12. Looking forward to catching up for a ride then dude!
  13. Met eish.... Hope it's nothing serious injury wise for the riders!!!
  14. People who are interested in improving any form of bike handling skills (pedal or motorised), have used this method above all else to improve the sense of connectedness between rider and machine for good reason!!!! There's a lot of opinion going on here about leaning and other stuff. Confidence will grow when you are deliberate with your center of gravity and that you are committing this movement to the right situation. Off camber turns require a vastly different body position than banked corners. Getting this right should be your primary goal.
  15. Not suggesting any one ride should stop at ALL of the points, but rather that informal riders cycle to the nearest meeting point to where they live and leave on the 15 minute intervals with hopefully someone else who randomly is out on the bike at the same time in the same area. If there is no one at that spot you may catch someone somewhere else depending on your timing... Anyone else with a better suggestion??
  16. That's the one. Shot Thomo
  17. What's the chances we can get this going properly?? Is there enough interest? We pick a few marked out places along a loop that heads around the mountain and have an understanding that if you're looking to ride with someone rather than train on your own you stop and hook up on any 15 min intervals according to the time along the route? (i.e Meet at any of these spots on the hour or 15 past or half past or quarter to and if any other cyclists are riding at similar times who are also looking to ride with someone you informally meet up and ride along.) Good AND SAFE places to meet up for road riding would be: Corner of Stanhope and Main Road Claremont. The corner of Spaanschemat and Ladies Mile. (Constantia) Entrance to the Kalk Bay harbour. (Polana regularls will know exactly where this is) The turn off away from Ou Kaapse towards Chapman's Peak. Top of Chappies Lookout Top of Suikerbossie Bakoven Bus Stop Corner of Queens and Victoria Road Virgin Active Green Point Parking Feel free to add some other logical points. Could end up with a network of places across the Western Cape.
  18. Most of the informal non club groups get really fractured through winter as the focus is the build up to riding the Argus and they'll only kick back into action come September, after the road hiatus. Saw a sensible post a little while ago about specific meeting points for informal rides. We should resurrect that and turn it into something real and that way we can create on the fly hub 'group' rides round the peninsula.
  19. Why not get a cheap single speed and then you have a rig for moonlight mass too??
  20. Howzeeeet Lizzy! Can mail you the pics if you wanna FB them?? (No FB in the office and just done the memory card download here...)
  21. Hout Bay tree canopy The 'Hose-man of Hout Bay' Heading up Suikerbossie. (At the back it is NOT every man\woman for himself!) (Memory card was full heading up here so didn't get right round to the finish. Any other GoPro hubbers who want to add on perhaps??)
  22. More descent in Hout Bay Last right bend on Chappies descent
