  1. Oh you are so ON! In fact now that you have raised this I may need to temporarily visit Hudson's in Claremont to get the fix out of the way before I'm next in Jozi....
  2. That was me 2 years ago. Keep at it. Last night I ran a comfy 21.1 as a training effort and I've averaged 3 - 4 runs of roughly 6 - 8 kays a week through that time. Oh yes, CONGRATS and welcome to the running crew!
  3. You called! Someone say dessert???? The only reason to have a meal is to get to dessert...
  4. My two biggest training obstacles are drinking more water and getting more Zzzzzs. If I go to bed earlier than 12 I wake up earlier than my alarm clock which is just before 6. I need 3 nights of just less than 6 which gets me totally poked before I'll do a 7 and a half or 8 hour sleep. Testing a pre sleep relaxation routine to see if it will assist me in sleeping longer consistently. As for drinking more water, just gonna have to suck it up and set a few reminders during the day at work. As often I just keep going without drinking enough and then end up at home after training trying to get my quota in later in the evening, which then keeps me awake all night running to the loo and back.... I've used rehydrate a couple of times, but not consistently...
  5. Oi vey SeaB's. That sounds like a frustrating condition dude! Hope it turns out not to be anything more serious and you are in fact on the mend, albeit at a slightly prolonged pace...
  6. That looks really cool Stretch! 81 days to go dude! Same day as the CT Marathon. Will you be relocated by then or is it an exploration trip ahead of the final move?
  7. Enjoy the build up. You know you're dedicated to putting in the right hours to prep, so just get the correct training pace sorted and you'll be gold! I myself have had my largest struggles with the easy run days, where I'm running too hard and then not recovered well enough to give the hard, interval days as much of a go!
  8. I doubt the poster was trying to suggest it carries the same weighting in value as that of a child's life, but rather was attempting to blatantly address the mindset of deliberately doing something that is just so obviously wrong to everyone else looking in.
  9. Less than 12 weeks to CT Marathon for me! Time to get back to training properly! Want a proper PB from this year's effort!
  10. 1 - Used as a digital log book for training. Even record most of my surfing on there now! 2 - Perfect way to keep in touch with active mates around the globe and rev each other about training and events we're doing. 3 - Most useful tool for checking on how I'm stacking up against myself when doing repeat loops\segments after big training blocks. 4 - Exploring the various segments around the areas I train before I go training to see what new challenges are available rather than doing the same routes all the time. Guessing you're not doing any of the above or you would realise what a useful tool it is as well. Either way, no point in behaving like a chop and barfing your miff opinion all over the thread. Enjoy your day too!
  11. Excellent, that means I may still have a chance of getting to the goals quicker in the challenge we set...
  12. You're making it too easy for the hub detectives....

whore hey who again?.... What a lekka race to watch! Final couple of laps were so tight. Excellent spectacle!
  14. #weaimtoplease #########################################someextrasekse!
  15. Roux, are you at it again? If you want to ride on your own, why do you enter the races where other people will be racing around you, most of who are racing with a club or other forms of teams? The team gig is different in that it's racing but the rest of the team looks out for each other during the race and the pacing strategy works so that the team races at their slowest riders pace for hanging on. It adds a new element to both training and racing and gives us mere mortals an opportunity to experience what racing is like for the pros in the sport, without having to change that much in our lives other than upping our own game so that you're not that slowest rider in the team....
  16. #liveandletlive? #eachtotheirown? How useful there's a tool that works for people going up and people coming down AND those who enjoy both! If taking the data that goes into strava is taken as seriously as all the other components of my training and this makes me a Strava$$hole, then give me a badge and I'll stick it on!
  17. And here we go.... Another year to see how long I can hold onto illusions of doing well!
  18. More than ever I'm convinced that the top guys could literally do this course with their eyes closed for vast portions of it! It requires an intimate knowledge of the layout and the condition of the road throughout the lap, measured back to within the limit of your own handling against the speed you're doing! Simply next level crazy!!!!!
  19. My name is Bronson, Santa Cruz Bronson.... In black, with the Pike and the Reverb, (27.5 plus would be grand! ) Medium please! Thanks so much! Whooo-hoooooooo!
  20. Anyone with info on the replacement cost of the edge 500 to edge 520? My old edge 500 has its screen fail and I have taken to just using my fenix instead. Would be useful to know whether I should get the edge upgrade and pass on within the family who cycle without any monitors at this stage.
  21. Nope, for all PCs the password is: incorrect (That way when someone gets it wrong the PC tells them exactly what it is...)
  22. Lekka to hear your healing has gone so well! Yep, you'll be nervous for a while but you'll never slide through a crossing looking down at your bike computer ever again! That level of caution you'll adopt will live on purely through this experience! As the saying goes, it's important you get back on the horse as soon as you can! Take pics of that first ride back out and post em up to make us all jealous all over again!
  23. Yes, it will be a struggle to put on the events given the current situation on the ground, but the first hand eye witness account of all the tourists coming to the affected area will carry such enormous impact on how the country rallies behind the Knysna communities for the foreseeable future! Kudos to the families and residents involved in standing back up given the setbacks to host this again!
  24. Net so! Lekka post Jackes and super informative to anyone reading and contemplating becoming a comrade! First hand experience FTW!
