  1. Sorry to hear Al! Did that just happen today? If so, make sure you contact all the pawn shops in the area and give them a heads up with your contact info as a start. Would be useful if you have social media to post info about it on there too! It will likely get forwarded all over. Include the bikehub social media accounts to get some real traction! Loads of followers there! Tough to lose something that has that much sentimental value! Hoping for a bt of good fortune for you!
  2. Jonkershoek for the win! If you're in Stellies doesn't make sense to go anywhere else! Come on Stellies chaps, help Sean find out why it's called neverendingstory....
  3. Disclaimer: I have never run a comrades. That said, a few pages back there was a debate going on about whether the sub 5 hour qualification of a marathon for Comrades was strict enough. That's a minimum entry point. To get to that minimum entry you will need to run a marathon in that time. Using RunnersWorld race predictor I put in some times and training distance to get a race prediction for sub 5. If you can run a 5K in 30 minutes, you will need to have a training plan that has 50k per week in the build up to your marathon to get a race prediction time of 4:59 and 35 seconds. To play with the variables use this link: http://www.runnersworld.com/tools/race-time-predictor I'm currently on a program looking to up the distance and it's remarkable how much the pace tapers with the extra distance! I'm sure one of the more qualified team will add more relevant info! Jackes should be a good commentator having just run his first and a consolidated post from him about the process he followed to get tot he finish this year will be your ticket! (No pressure Jackes... )
  4. Agreed, you can only chop if you're resurrecting a bike! Yours looks fantastic!
  5. Mayweather is the more skilled fighter in terms of boxing standards, has an impeccable record and can slip attacks better than most fighters at this level. Outside of his athletic prowess, I find him the epitome of a douche bag. I will be hoping for this alone that he lays down on the canvas....
  6. Don't forget to post a review of how that goes....
  7. Interesting! But.... It must be really k@k having to collect all the samples for this type of research...
  8. Anyone on his instagram who can confirm whether they've done a lift selfie as a couple yet? Just curious about whether he's hitched to the 'right' girl....
  9. Maybe the hairdresser travels....
  10. Haven't you heard? It's no longer called wine! It's now WIN with an E....
  11. Quite like this rebuild! If I had any abilities with a wrench and wielder I would take this on!
  12. There's two threads of thought in this discussion. The first is focussing on the rules regarding open class racing where categories are decided purely on finished time amongst the mass start field and the rule wording for what is considered outside assistance when both of you are entered riders. As many have suggested from the OPs explanation it doesn't sound like he is doing anything dodgy and it seems like the passion of cycling is expanding through the family which can only be a good thing for your riding and racing time (and theirs! Everyone wins!) The second discussion point is based on the more subliminal factors. How far can you take the paired race day experience before you contravene any rules? Some are suggesting that just because you race together you have an unfair advantage. However, nothing is preventing any of the other parents from racing too. Again this is assuming that there is no cheating with pushing or similar coming into play and you're simply racing together. This all has a grey area of opinion as some consider drafting okay and others will think you're manipulating the race! How about throwing this whole idea on its head and asking this question. Who do you want your son to be when he grows up? Someone who is prepared to do whatever it takes to win and bend whatever rules he can, so that he only wins with assistance? Or would you want him to be a fully aware adult who understands the value of fair competition that feels the personal joy of rising to his own challenges whether he succeeds or fails, but knows he did his best? Once you have figured out where your focus is then you'll know what options to chose on race day!
  13. Eishhhh. Heal up fast! A little light swimming once recovery is complete, to jump start the rehab, worked wonders for me when I did this.
  14. Haaai, don't cum here whith yorr loose use of da word lose eh! What kinds of loosers do yew thinks har vizittin and let lose on us?
  15. Not TT, but this is still the best sounding bike I've heard! (Dude clearly likes the wind through his hair over his safety when he rides the bike though....) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZH7SA6XPuc
  16. Such a lekka little doccie this. Some history on the only 8 cylinder bike ever made and it's heritage to the TT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrS9-4s9Wvg
  17. That was insane! That he had the presence of mind or luck or combination of both to counter steer whilst in the air is the only thing that has saved him! His leathers must need a wash after that!
  18. Come on do it! Log your 5% bottom. In the end you're actually racing yourself more than anyone else here. Get your marker in so we can see how much you improve when something like this next rolls around! That's when the real bragging rights start! Yep elevated heart rate shows your body as being active with tackling something. Do the neck test. If you feel miff above, you're still okish to do something light. If it's below the neck with particularly muscle aches, then rest and recovery only! (Wait till you feel better closer to the end of the month before you tackle the mile challenge...)
  19. Sounds good! I'm in. Should be a mid packer in the internal comp! Obvious that we should only do this on a flat section and not somewhere with major downhill assistance.
  20. Glad to hear you're well enough to be posting! Sounds like a freak accident of note! Heal up quick! No solids for a while?
