  1. These cramp specific supplements are not a get out of jail card. Make sure you do a test run and take one to see what it does to your digestive tract through the end of your run! I would only consider the use of these as a last hoorah effort to prevent a DNF! This is all my own opinion and experience from having been someone who suffered from cramping issues and trying a few different options.
  2. I agree with your thinking again. I'm more interested to see what happens post this effort in the big events and the approach that is taken on race day regarding tactics on the day versus trying to run a consistent pacing time and simply beat out the competition running towards a PB! No doubt some psychological barriers will be moved forward through this endeavour!
  3. Yeah me too. The guys still have to run this on their own steam out in the real world whatever the other factors are. That certainly counts for a whole lot of credibility!
  4. WR450 with 300plus hours playing in the dunes.... Can only be the Grim.... I know that guy!
  5. http://www.takealot.com/deals/jedi May the fourth be with you! (Yep, definitely a Tumbles day!)
  6. Andrew Steer on this thread has some South Africa flag kit if I remember correctly from the OMTOM expo....
  7. So we can rule out that you are fueling properly at least! 6 meals a day is a great effort! You eat better than I do... The late dinner is something you can experiment with....
  8. Speedwork is very new to my training but already I'm seeing the benefits and I've only really run 2 speedwork sessions!!!! Fartlek based runs for these past two, but will look to do some 600m sprint repeats and add some hill sprint repeats over the next few weeks. Have focused on running a 5K PB for the next couple of months and hopefully translate that speedwork change back into longer training from July through to the CT Marathon. Average pace when running is down from 5:45 per min to 5:20 or faster with the same heart rate zones since the beginning of the year.
  9. Thanks ous for the race reports! Certainly inspiring for the rest of us!
  10. How many meals a day do you have and what time of the day do you have them? (Average of the past 3 months plus)
  11. Just to celebrate of all your hard efforts guys and girls, I'll drag myself off for a surf! (Been struggling with a little sore throat effort and still believe in the power of a salt water cleanse so surfing instead of running till it's done)
  12. BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will she ever: #whatwouldevando?
  13. ... then one foggy....
  14. Some inspiration.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRkaxaqG4Yc
  15. When I grow up I want to have a tempo pace like you guys do.........! 4:00 - 4:30 is not sustainable for me yet. That's top of zone 4, knocking on zone 5, for me!
  16. #whatwouldevando? #hegotmarried! #whereisGen?
  17. 150 days to CT Marathon. Figure I will spend the next 60 focused on short distance speedwork and then the following 90 getting the right distance training in for the full event. What say you ultra\regular marathon campaigners?
  18. Must be those extra 18cms you take with each stride! Those long legs must be the cause... Those 18cms add up quickly when you combine the reps together!
  19. My numbers from OMTOM half: I'm 1.75m Avg pace: 5:22/km = 11,2 km/h speed Max speed: 14,3 km/h Avg heart rate: 156bpm Avg: 173spm Max: 215spm Stride length: 1.08m Avg vertical ratio: 7.2% Avg vertical oscillation: 7.8cm Balance: 50.6%L/49.4%R Ground contact time: 276ms P.S. Just entered Cape Town Marathon in the hope of taming the effort that nearly killed running for me last year!
  20. Why do Dirk's shoes make the road seem so small though....? (Any idea what size those skis are?)
  21. Well done all you Ultra Marathoners! Some lekka tales here! You are all champs for finishing! Hopefully the last push towards Comrades for those crazy enough to do it, is plain sailing!
  22. Lekka Andrew! Nice to meet you too mate! Good luck all!
  23. Stretch, in case you haven't seen this yet, quite a bunch of useful info on this link! http://dogreatthings.co.za/running/training/race-pace-calcuatory/
