  1. This seems like the best value option! It's also only 49grams!
  2. Coming through Thursday late morning, just before lunch time. I'll check on Strava and see if you've posted some pics so I can recognise a fellow younger guy going grey....
  3. Post a pic of the stand so we know where to find you! (How many randelas do we need to bring along to get a training top?)
  4. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/165200-garmin-introduces-the-f%C4%93nix-5-series/?source=lfp
  5. Main Road Newlands (More info here: http://www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/information/route-56km)
  6. The only option for getting to Hout Bay will be via the Atlantic side past Llandudno down Suikerbossie on Victoria Road. If they want to hang in Hout Bay to watch you guys there, it would probably make the most sense for them to try and get near to the beach at the foot of Chapman's Peak. They would drive on Victoria road through Hout Bay turning left at the circle into Princess Street and then right into Mainstream Village entrance on mainstream avenue. (They would have to take this entrance as main road ahead will be closed to traffic.) Mainstream will wind its way round the mall and the next road to the right is sentinel. There are a few options here. Maybe a map will be better... There are plenty of options but this will be the best selection for being in Hout Bay. The closer they can get to the Vida or Dunes restaurant area to park, the closer they are to the beach for the kids to play on will they wait for you to come by.
  7. How are we all doing in taper week to OMTOM? I'm going to try to get more sleep this week! Yawning like a pro in the office today!

What a game! Newlands was heaving! STORMERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Ja, these club shorts are seriously pseudo hot pants! Used mine once and even though they're so short, had them climb all up in the sweet spot! I've had to go hunting for some substitute shorts that are the same club colour and slightly closer to boardie length, I'll be more comfy in. Found a decent pair of nike football shorts that work. Did a test run in them last week and they're good to go! (Wonder how Patch would handle this issue given his sock length fetish...)
  11. Those are some short shorts Stretch! Evan would be proud....
  12. Lekka! I'll cheer the chap running next to the tall guy then too! Out of curiosity, why are you calling this your last?
  13. I'll keep and eye out for a tall guy (aka Stretch) finishing at that time. Will probably still be around watching other club mates finish!
  14. Howzeeet running crew. What's shaking? (Booked myself off the hub with assignments that were looming.) Seems like there are plenty of us doing OMTOM in both versions. Would be interesting to get a view of who is doing which and what their goals are. I'm doing the half as I (fortunately) have not qualified for the ultra... This will be my first OMTOM half. Have 2 Gun Run halfs and the Cape Town Marathon completed. Tube - 21km - Seeded D - Goal: sub 1:50
  15. "You and me baby, we ain't nothing but mammals, so lets do it like they do on the Discovery Channel..." ???
  16. Wow they're good! Enjoyed this too!
  17. Howzeeet Stretch! I took the day off work for your birthday and went for a surf just for you bru! HAPPY BIRTHDAY dude!
  18. SNAP, my first TeaTea for years and also last night! Also had the same approach and bombed properly! I'm nowhere near my 5K best, although weirdly I am feeling stronger over the longer distances? Find I'm able to run 15kays holding a faster pace than before but can't come anywhere near my 5K PB of 22min. Once OMTOM half is done, I really want to get some speedwork in and make a full effort at working towards a sub20 5K. My current half PB is an actual 1:55* at GunRun last year. Hoping to get under 1:45 at OMTOM. What are your goals and lets see who gets them? Challenge??? *(For those on my Strava, 2 years ago Gun Run had a major GPS issue and somehow was determined that I ran into the middle of the bay, breaking all my records. I've kept them there as markers to work towards actually achieving!)
  19. Welcome back!
  20. That's a good thing! If you're getting bored it means you're putting in the training! Keep it up dude. Your strava shows good numbers. You're looking in great shape. Here's to finding more motivation from the preparation you have put in so far mate! The goal is on the horizon. Finish strong!
  21. That's a novel idea but not really an option. Most people don't read their start card information properly and devising a plan to suggest which numbers in the wind speeds will be very dynamic. Firstly wind does not blow in the same direction all the time. That alone will have a major impact on safety on the day. This really is the only barometer than can be followed and assessed on the day. e.g. If the wind is the same strength as it was on Sunday but blowing from the West, you can be guaranteed that you would hardly notice it in comparison in the city, but the whole return leg from Cape Point through to Bakoven would be mental. Some cyclists would not make the route without a multitude of lie downs! Have the wind from the North West and it's everything in reverse to the South East. A couple of degrees can have a profound effect on what is experienced. It's not all vanilla, just wind and wind speed...
  22. This is what the Organisers need to focus on! Get these ducks in a row, come up with a plan for the day with the necessary role players and the risk element is drastically reduced! Everyone acting very emotional about the event. Let's just put this out there. Imagine the worlds media are watching the streaming live footage as a group of 100 plus protesters charge across the road at the Sun Valley traffic light where the elite bunch are coming down Black Hill at pace on the diverted route. That's before the thousands of other riders that have already started on the course even get there! And they will all be pumped up and ready for confrontation!!!! Could you just imagine the conflict on the day????????? Would this likely end with someone losing their life?
  23. See we are thinking similar too! (Too many threads about this now!) https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/166893-ct-cycle-tour-suggestion-to-change-to-1st-weekend-of-april/?p=3086041
  24. Hahahaha! Howzeeeeet NOOB! Did someone find you or did you finally give up playing hide and seek....? (Welcome back!)
