  1. i don't think those shimano wheels are going to be any better than what you've already got - they weight almost 2kg which is already on the heavy side (your stock wheels are probably already about this weight) the real trouble is, lighter wheels come at a considerable premium, starting at about double your budget and going up exponentially.
  2. how about a beer forfeit?
  3. i guess those who've tried have so far been unsuccesful - bummer
  4. post of the day, well done sir!
  5. +1 precisely what the sport needs right now before every last sponsor backs out
  6. aha, interesting theory indeed - and i thought that was just road rash from many crashes on the belgian cobbles
  7. hmmm, so far the only new info i've gleaned from this thread is that EPO is bad for your skin.
  8. have you been living under a rock for a while? convert to single speed - no need for shifters. next question.
  9. one of the issues is that cyclists are not perceived as equal road users by motorists - most not being aware that a person on a bicycle has similar rights to use the road as those in motorised vehicles. while a great intiative, the 1.5m passing distance doesn't address the above. what i did see recently was a gentleman riding in a top that had " I AM TRAFFIC" written in big bold text on the back- in my view this is the message we really need to convey.
  10. and that is the real tragedy...
  11. "i love the smell of burning rubber after an indoor training session, smells like, oh dear, i need a new tyre"... bummer
  12. sounds like you've already got the right attitude which is accounts for about 90% of the training - these guys are giving good advice already so my only addition is to enjoy the day - it's an event, not a race.
  13. anyone know where one can find the full results for sat's tt?
  14. wow, bananas no good, eh? ok, if you're going to pull a Tim Noakes on us and turn the world of sports nutrition upside down, at least please back it up with some solid evidence - much obliged!
  15. while i'm at it, can't ignore sheldon brown - lots of interesting info on his site - the below is a link to his article on chain wear. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/chains.html#wear
  16. this article may be of use - gives an idea of what a jockey wheel should look like for replacement. http://www.cyclistno1.co.uk/features/maintenance/replacing-your-jockey-wheels.htm
  17. you mean something like this? http://www.amazon.com/Sunlite-Pedal-Extenders-Crank-27-5mm/dp/B000QDGJVU
  18. if it's new, take it back and get them to fix it that being said i've heard there is some sort of a problem with fsa cranks wrt them loosening (do a search) - sounds like a design flaw - all the more reason to take it back and get the bike shop to sort it out - this shouldn't be your problem. let us know what happens
  19. there shouldn't be a compatibilty problem and i doubt you'll even notice any difference in sounds/wear or performance/shifting. EDIT: as long as the rd is set up properly with the "b" screw properly adjusted for correct clearance between the pulley closest the cassette and the cassette itself, shouldn't be an issue at all. question is, are they really that worn? took my shimano 600 rd 20 years before it looked like it was time to replace jockey wheels. most folks upgrade purely for bling factor to i.e. with these: http://www.koo-bikes...-blue-pair.html
  20. does no-one wear socks anymore?
  21. can tell by your result, well done.
  22. i have an earlier model - been going fine for 3 years. only down side I have is I get interference sometimes, presumably from other similar HRM's and get odd HR readings for a split second. on the up side, unlike a rival brand, you don't have to courier it across the country to have the battery changed!
  23. may be a touch of rust? drop the rd in a small tub of diesel for about 10mins (no smoking during this procedure!), fish it out, degrease with sunlight liquid and see if it's working any better. if nothing's changed then it's probably time for a new rd.
