  1. When I'm ever there in swissie I'll race you and you're going to need those AS to see me disappearing into the distance...
  2. Ahh another interesting case!! Should he be able to compete againt able bodied athletes? Does his blades give him a bette performance? Can you get super blades? What the difference between adding non-human apparatus or non-human supplements? Just asking questions of which I don't know the answers. Sport has always been a great story for me, but it kind of faded a bit since all the relevations about cheating and what not.
  3. What would you guys say about Lionel Messi and his growth hormone injections at Barcelona when he was younger? Blurry lines for sure!
  4. Agreed from what I've read. But then also, we know strange tricks are pulled in cycling so maybe the inhaler is just a conduit for something else? My position on Sky is that they're pushing the boundaries and they are taking things, e.g. tramadol, that although not against the rules, could definitely help indirectly. Think of EPO. Before the testers discovered it, it was widely used and was legal only due to it not being known of. In my mind it should be a moral question, therefore rather stay away from anything just to be sure.
  5. Interesting article supporting your view and that the normal inhalers doesn't even improve performance, but... BOTTOM LINE: If you don’t have asthma, don’t use an inhaler. It won’t make you faster, stronger, or last longer, and you could unnecessarily subject yourself to performance-hindering side effects including dizziness, headaches, and nausea. http://www.outsideonline.com/fitness/bodywork/fitness-coach/Will-An-Inhaler-Enhance-My-Performance-20120806.html Will an Inhaler Enhance My Performance?
  6. An interesting sub-thread this question and it can become quite philosophical regarding where you draw the line. Should people with a low haematocrit be able to supplement it to get to the level of the "normal" guys? It's not the athlete's fault he didn't get the best genes. Isn't the point of athletics to ascertain who is the best (I guess in terms of nature and nurture) without any added supplements or anything? If you say asthma sufferers are allowed to perhaps take something "normal" athletes can't, is that not in effect levelling the playing field which is contradictory to the best man wins? So many questions!
  7. Thanks guys! Should it be read in conjunction with the chain ring then? For example, isn't it much more difficult to turn a 60t than a 30t with the same crank? I assume you can draw two lines for the different chain rings and see where they actually intersect depending on different length cranks?
  8. Isn't it the otherway around? Shorter crank easier to spin and less power while for longer crank you need more power? According to my length I need a longer crank, but I like to spin it to win it which would require shorter crank, therefore taking both into account I'm happy with my 175.
  9. ask tumbleweeds what happened when he tried that
  10. Don't worry... you got your training in for the new 94.7 route which now has about 1400-1500m of climbing.
  11. No. Once was enough. Got the t-shirt, but wasn't really THAT great for me. Really keen for the Joberg2C though after doing the Sani2C earlier this year.
  12. Well done guys! Sorry I didn't make it. Went our for an easy 3h mtb ride. Was it very cold?
  13. Perhaps avatar was thinking about mtb trails on public property? For example, you build a trail in a public park open to everyone. Can you charge people money to ride or limit access? Think the spruit. Or what does 'public mtb trail' mean? I guess it comes down to respect for others. There are so many people doing great work to keep trails maintained and asking way too little money if time and effort are taken into account. And trespassing on private land to ride is just wrong, even if it is a farm.
  14. Thanks! Can you post the link to that thread? My searching never seems to work.
  15. Interesting that they are following up, and also that they didn't say to take it off, but to make it private. Rules seemed to suggest you can't upload at all.
  16. The Joberg2C has gone only GPS and no markings. Sani2c also uploaded GPS, but still had route markings. Might be the thing of the future. What's it like that side for mtb events?
  17. Cool. Let us know if everything works. Nice photo of your class!
  18. One site says min -1 (but about 4 at 7am) and max 18 degrees and a 5km/h wind. I have to drive there from Emmarentia so it adds to the early wake-up.
  19. The next one on the list is this coming Sunday starting from Pro-Cycle Benoni http://audaxsa.co.za/schedule/ There is a 100 and 200 on the cards. Seems like the 200 route is out to Heidelberg and Dasville and then back. So who's doing it? I've always wanted to do one, but haven't had the chance yet. *I've searched for this event/thread, but couldn't find anything*
  20. Great meeting you doc! And happy that you're feeling better. Sometimes it's hard to throttle back when not feeling 100%. Definitely in my calendar for the 4-day version next year.

  22. Nice! Wind was interesting. And it's howling now. Tomorrow we race!
  23. No. I ride in the black and yellow kit of Complete Cyclist kit. On my mostly black Giant. You?
  24. Riding 30+. Mapped the ride beforehand and it looked straight then at 80km down 500m and then kill it to the finish. How wrong could I be! Was tough and that last bit back against the wind was a killer.
  25. Haha just make your ghost self slow! I saved the file under my Garmin/Courses folder. And then you select somewhere on the Garmin that you want to do a course and select your one you saved.
