  1. ****... they should reinforce that rule in racing. I hate it when I "attack" and then another riders attacks me...
  2. Yes, I know, horrible. It's illegal to cycle in the emergency lane. They should be cycling in the actual lane.
  3. In the Netherlands their only climbs are roads bridging across other roads...
  4. You have to let them now beforehand!
  5. Wind would make your time relative to the winner slower, except if you're Cancellara and starting in Z. If you ride X minutes slower than the winner without wind, with wind you'll be X + Y minutes slower.
  6. Yeah, but don't they choose their races? Or are there still too many? I know many squads have different teams for different races. I guess sport in general is moving towards quantity over quality which is bad for the athletes in the long term.

    3 or 2:05... that's quite a wide gap. I guess you meant 3 or 3:05

The Elites were super fast, well done... just over 45km/h average!

Yeah there's more climbing than the Argus! In what group did you finish, because maybe we were together. Made a stupid mistake and missed the 10 guys that rode away on Fox Hill which we never saw again.
  10. Great to hear! There's already a long Amashova thread at https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/129724-amashova-2013/page__st__272?do=findComment&comment=2093461 therefore rather use that one to share your stories...
  11. I have never sucked a wheel, but a sniffed a saddle once. Long story. But I follow wheels like crazy!
  12. Not sure what route the shorter distance followed so can't comment on whether you can just half it. What other race did you enter? The gutters and drags combined were quite tough in the Engen, although the elevation might not sound that much.
  13. They're doing a pretty good job with the seedings and the example you posted seems reasonable. I guess it becomes very difficult if you start comparing road to mtb races, but that's what you guys want so they did the best they can.

Draft... and then sprint past everyone for the win. It's not only not against the rules, it's actually a very respected racing tactic. Ask all the sprinters in the world.

    I'm in VA too!
  16. Schadenfreude? Schön.

Then we'll be alright, because there's nowhere where less than 30kph is justified. Thanks Garfield!
  18. According to my Garmin the long distance was 103.7km and the corrected elevation 818m.
  19. Well done guys, and thank you!!
  20. Looks like some rain coming in Jozi today. Actually looking forward to it. Except if I'm going to be soaked tomorrow morning on my training ride. But I do have two balls. Not that it makes me more of a man, though.

Andyr249 looks like Cancellara in his photo so I'll be scared!
  22. It's a business so good luck to them. I'm a credit analyst so it would be interesting to know how they are being funded, because that would have a direct bearing on whether it's feasible with the interest they're going to charge. Personally I'm against lending for things like everyday consumption. And like I said, except if you're commuting, cycling is not in my mind a neccesity. @TheV your post is rational, but I can promise you people taking up micro lending is not always that rational. There are 19.7 million active credit consumers in this country (compared to only 13 million people formally employed). Consumers with impaired records total 9.3 million. http://www.link2media.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19789&Itemid=12
  23. True that. And except if you commute I guess you can still argue a car is worth more in terms of getting you around even though it depreciates every year.
  24. I like their advertising that says, "Forget the German Techno, go for the Swedish Metal"... or something like that.
  25. Some good points, Mike. If there's enough interest, I can start a "The Hub We Help" non-profit organisation with trustees and of course with Hub input in how to raise and spend funds? With an official organisation / fund the donations will even be tax deductible. We can also do financial accounts for everybody to see. Would there be interest in this Hubbers? Sorry for hijacking your post Rusty!
