  1. I don't really get the "obvious" and "more complex nutrition plans". Your body is your body and needs the same things, as in proper meals and snacks, but perhaps more or less depending on your situation. This would mean you might need more meals and snacks in the Epic, but you don't have to start using super long endurance shakes, top-up bars, etc.
  2. My personal believe is that sport nutrition is mostly marketing hype and 99.9% of athletes, if not 100%, can get away with water and perhaps something like a banana and biltong as extra during lengthy exercise over and above normal meals.

Thanks. Aren't we only going up to the school on the left which would cut about 1km off that length and profile?

Good to meet you too! I dropped on that first drag, chased back for 10kms and then on the long drag got dropped just before the top because of an accident... the guys were guttering onto the gravel! Luckily didn't fall, but had to almost stop.

See attached the list from the 94.7 website. D2D doesn't seem to be on there. ab60ebee-7ff6-42fe-865b-f36901e7f084_Momentum 94 7 Cycle Challenge event entries 06 August 2013.pdf

Thanks! So it's a bit of the Wilro / EPR route with a Gauteng champs lap thrown in stirred with more Cradle and then the Sterkies climb at the end. On paper it looks like a tough route. On tar probably tougher, especially if the wind comes a knocking.
  7. Awesome riding Cox! Great news about the road league since as far as I understand there won't be a PPA Spring League this year.
  8. Dude, your generalisations won't get you far. From your post it seems you have a bigger problem with people unlike yourself than trying to find common ground and realising that we all love cycling. Edit: Or I misread your post and you have the same feeling as me. Then I apologise.
  9. I like the Spruit and try to be as courteous as possible (hint hint ladies). And thank you to all the fairies for keeping it real.

Oh shoot... we're doing the Sterkfontein climb? That's going to hurt!

You can write about it on the Hub!
  13. Cool. What colour? Unfortunately I'm in the CC team, but join me for a break-away attempt?

What is this climb you guys are talking about? I've never done this race before.
  15. See you there! What can we shout if we're struggling? BULLDuuusssttt.....

  17. Isn't he also implicated in that French Senate report coming out on Wednesday?
  18. Is it really free or do the wi-fi providers charge the organisers who just add the cost to the entry? I don't mind, just asking.
  19. Let's turn the question around. Take the amount of cycling you watch, whether local or international like the Tour de France. Would you double your watching time, e.g. also watch another 3 weeks of the women's Tour de France? Just asking. I'm all for more races for women and they do deserve it, but is it feasible? I think others alluded to the same point.
  20. See my post above...
  21. I was also confused, because I thought they wanted to race with the men. But I think they actually want their own Tour de France for women.
  22. The Shimano set's weight is 1884g or let's make it 1.9kg. What series Carbone do you have and how deep are the sections? The CXR 60 comes in at about 1.6kg according to the interweb.
  23. It's in the Western Cape, just outside Stellenbosch.
  24. http://www.cyclingpowerlab.com/cyclingaerodynamics.aspx Cycling Aerodynamics & CdA - A Primer Interesting read on the drag from different positions, e.g.: Wing or Teardrop 0.005 Ball 0.5 Person stood upright 1.0 Flat plate face-on to airflow 1.17 Brick 2.0 Cyclist (Tops)* 1.15 Cyclist (Hoods)* 1.0 Cyclist (Drops)# 0.88 Cyclist (Aero Bars)# 0.70
  25. Without the fans there will be no Tour de France! I actually quite like the sea of people and then how it parts when the riders go through. Must be amazing riding with that cheer and support. Sure, some are crazy, but no harm meant. All it takes it for the first man to put his foot one inch onto the road, then the next will have to go one inch and a bit, etc.
