Officially - http://www.cycletour.co.za/index.php/enter/substitutions/ Substitutions Substitution Procedure for South African residents only. If you don’t know of someone who is cancelling: 1. From 1 February, you will be able to add yourself to a waiting list on the Cycle Tour website. There will be a non-refundable R50 admin fee charged. 2. Should a place become available to you, you will be notified by email that you can go online and enter as a substitute entrant. You will then be charged the substitution fee of R330. How to add yourself to the online waiting list: 1. Click on the link to the waiting list, this will be found on the home page of www.cycletour.co.za from 1 February 2013. 2. Search for your name on the database. If your name does not appear, you can create a profile by clicking on “Add new person” – you can then skip to step 5 below. 3. Enter your ID number on the field provided alongside your date of birth. If your email address and password is required you will need to insert his instead of your ID or passport number. 4. Update your personal details if prompted to. 5. Follow the on screen prompts until you reach the payment page. Once you have successfully paid the R50 admin fee, you have been added to the waiting list. If you know of someone who is cancelling and would like to submit a substitution entry: From 1 February, you will be able to enter online as a substitute entrant. You will then be charged the substitution fee of R330. In order to substitute an entrant, you will need the following: 1. The details of the person withdrawing (name, surname and ID or passport number). 2. A valid credit card Procedure: 1. Go to the online entry page from 1 February to 22 February 2013. A link will appear on the home page on 1 February. 2. Enter the substitute rider’s details. 3. Download a consent form for the person withdrawing to complete (available during the online entry process). 4. Pay the substitution fee of R330, irrespective of PPA membership. 5. The person withdrawing must complete the consent form and then fax it to 086 593 5590 or email it to substitutions@cycletour.co.za. 6. You will receive an email confirmation of your substitution within 5 working days of receipt of the consent form. Please note: 1. The entrant withdrawing will not be refunded his/her entry fee. 2. The entrant withdrawing may ask for the substitute entrant to refund their entry fee but they may not ask for more than they originally paid. PPA members paid an entry fee of R300 and non-PPA members paid an entry fee of R330. 3. The substitute participant will be issued a new number in the start group for which he/she qualifies. 4. Should the substitute participant not have their own RaceTec timing chip, they will be required to purchase one. 5. Entrants may NOT allow anyone else to use the number allocated to them. 2. Can "phedra" be classified as a "supplement"? What does it supplement?
  3. Question, and partly related to the "strava assholes" or whatever they're called: do you use strava as your total training log book or only to try and beat other people on specific segments? The reason I ask is if you use it for the former, then obviously you'll upload everything, including races, which some say is wrong because you're riding in a peleton.
  4. Legal question - if he confesses to Oprah, would that count as a legal confession?
  5. Yeah sorry couldn't make that one!
  6. I'll follow you!
  7. You you guys doing your fast one at 16h30?
  8. I'm in like baby chocolates...
  9. My idea too, to shock the system!
  10. So how is this race and who is doing it? I'm thinking of making this my first race in Gauteng!
  11. Event Name: Powerade Summer Challenge 2013 When: 13 January 2013 Where: Stonehaven on Vaal, Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng Category: Road Distance: 80km (R120), 40km (R110), 10km (R30) Timed by: Performance Timing Entries close: 11 January 2013 at 12:00 Province: Gauteng South Go to Event Page
  12. Two interesting articles: (1) Science verifies the best weight-loss diet - http://discovermagazine.com/2013/jan-feb/95-science-verifies-the-best-weight-loss-diet (2) Why calorie counts are wrong: Cooked foods provide a lot more energy http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/crux/?p=623
  13. To confirm for JHB tonight, 4 Jan - starting 18h at the corner of Jan Smuts & Bompas?
  14. I'm stunned. What a legend. Let's keep his memories alive (nice photos Dale) and not jump to comclusions before we have all the facts. Maybe people that knew him could write short stories of him?
  15. To confuse you even more, regarding the meaning: http://www.cyclocamping.com/Bike_Parts__Accessories/what_do_size_markings_on_bicycle_tires_mean_free/ARTI_tire_size_marking-89.aspx
  16. So I go back to my point, it's ok to steal if it's too expensive? And has anybody seen their profits and margins? Think about what car you drive. Would you buy a fake ferrari at a tenth of the normal retail price?
  17. I've heard this, but is it true or just an urban legend? Do you have a source for this information?
  18. Same opinion if the IP can be proven as belonging to a specific company. Obviously there's a point where a triangle is a triangle, but the point remains.
  19. Pinarello is a private company and therefore I can't find their financial information, but let's look at Shimano (which also produces other products although bicycle parts are still 80% of sales). I'm doing this because it seems some of you says it ok to steal, because the companies make too much money. Year ended Dec-11: Assets Y216,000M Sales Y221,770M Net Income Y19,862M That gives a net income margin of 9%. Now I wonder how many companies you hubbers work for sell products for less or more than a 9% net income margin?
  20. I don't really understand why we're at 12 pages. Not that I'm taking the moral high ground, but it's pretty simple, with out without stickers, if you buy a Pina design not through the correct channels then you are stealing.
  21. Thanks for the ride Norman and everybody else and all the best Mike!
  22. My point was that they're not necessarily improving, only changing so that you can't use old parts on new bikes...
  23. Shouldn't it? If he did the climb at 80km/h surely it affects his whole ride, but perhaps not his other segments... then dunno.
  24. 94/1 with Amla 56* and Petersen 35*. Going along nicely at 4.7 to the over...
  25. This ride will go ahead rain or shine?
