  1. Rode at Modders this morning. Trails are looking good! Big improvement, and considering what they inherited and the time they have had to work on things, the signs are very positive!
  2. I drive that way and have seen a few people cycle that route to Modders. They cross over the highway, carry on straight through Linbro and turn right, running parallel to the reserve at that point. I wouldn't do it. But can't definitively say if it is safe or not.
  3. Hope he/she is OK. Not sure what maintenance can be done on that section.it has some ruts but it's actually a lot tamer compared to previous years. Make it any more gentle, and you going to have to start paving the single track. It can be a tricky descent there. Some of the events don't use that section and use tar road back down.
  4. Indola gets my vote. Got two pairs. Both serve me well
  5. You just saved me a ton of trouble. And swearing. Plenty swearing.
  6. I’m going to go attempt it tomorrow morning. Will head off 7:30am. Does concern me to do it on my own - would hate to crash on a section that is not really used by people !
  7. What he said...
  8. Broke my collarbone so I'm out. Partner also out Two entries up for grabs...
  9. When you say needs maintenance, what are you referring to? Cutting back the grass?
  10. Rode there for the race this last weekend at the reserve. Was a fun event. Very low-key, not very serious. The route was well maintained and I really enjoyed the pre-reversed or non-reversed route again. Was a nice change. Having the single track down through the trees was epic. Miss that, and the single track down the dam. If i could make a suggestions, even though the route will be back to being reversed now, the single-track through the trees should be kept in the same direction, going down. With a few tweaks, it can be kept as a down. Just would mean cutting a track to the parallel jeep track before the singe-track in the trees. You would go up the jeep track. Then that single track in the trees could become an extra loop. Would be epic.
  11. A bit silly that there no rewards for no a single diamond. Has there been any in the past? You need two or more and it's taken months for me to get one
  12. I do it from time to time, but preferred it in the other direction to be honest. I was not aware it was a black route though. I thought the only black route was by the top gate, which seems to not be accessible now that the route changed directions. That was over the rocks and down the rock-face. Was a blast. Would be great to open it up again.
  13. Was there on Sunday. Was great. Lots of natural vegetation will always make it a challenge but plenty of visible maintenance. There some small gripes (river single track has a fallen tree, discovery runners on the red route on saturdays ) but really a great place to ride.
  14. See you there for the big mountain challenge. Looking forward to it
  15. Entered this. First time riding there. Heard it’s roxky and technical , and there’s is a bit of rain predicated Should be a good challenge
  16. Thanks. I haven't done 70km before, so I am making sure I am ready before heading into a day of hell which could have been funner with the shorter option. The 45Km ENX was 1000m this last weekend. But I think 1000m might feel a bit different with an extra 20km's in the legs. But I have time to get a few long rides in before.
  17. What is the climbing like on the 70km route? Anyone done this race before that would know?
  18. Craft cycle shirts at Fourways Sprotman's Warehouse today for R149. Reduce from R1200, to R700, and now further reduced to R149. And there were other brands too. Picked up a Cape Storm shirt, R149. They had First Ascent too.
  19. Wow. I look forward to seeing that they do.
  20. Nope. Where did you see the announcement?
  21. One option - Connect your Wahoo to the Polar app and get points that way.
  22. From my interpretation of the map, and seeing where the roads were cut, that part remains.
  23. Oh man, that is a pity. Such a great place to ride, and having it shortened will be rather sad. Hopefully they cut some new trails in the remaining space. Thanks for sharing this
  24. Same. Have dropped them a message on Facebook. Let's see what they say. Will post an update here.
