Ha. Rather comprehensive answer. Thanks. Meant switched to dry lube from a more oil based lube at 600km. Never ride with a dry chain. You might be onto something with changing gears with power. Trying to reduce that where I can. Thanks for the feedback, glad two links won't cause an issue.

Hi there Broke my chain on my Momsen AL529 after riding for 800km on it. My question- is what could be the cause with such low distance having been done? Broke while on a mild single track. What to know : I clean it after 9/10 rides Started using Squirt chain lube at about 600km I fixed it by using a master chain link. I now have two on the same chain - Is that a problem? So what should I check? Or should I send it bike for a service? Thanks ????????

Forgot to add , I wouldn’t worry about the weight of the Momsen. I have the 2016 AL529. I don't find it heavy.

Was there this weekend, and plenty of maintenance has taken place; grass and bushes cut back, most of the jeep tracks are smoothed out (which i am not really a fan of). Reserve looking nice. What I did notice was lots of new dirt roads have been cut through the reserve. I even got lost once as a result. Anyone know what the reserve is up to with these new roads?

Arrived early st Modderfontein to find it closed for a race. Bummer to discover at 6:20am. So I decided to drive to Thaba. And, I am humbled. I have a long way to go before I can climb those steep rocky sections without coming off the pedals. Wow. Green trails here are more hardcode than blue trails elsewhere. Great place to ride though. Saw plenty game too. Definitely recommend it

I have only been riding there since the start of the year, so I cannot compare it to a few years back in terms of maintenance and condition. Rode there this weekend, and noticed maintenance has been done over the last few weeks. Bushes adjacent to the paths have been cut back, some new fences too. Maybe if you have been riding there over the last 3 months regularly you would notice small improvements?

If you were to train without going on the road, how do you benchmark you fitness in order to have a comfortable ride? For instance, If can do a ride 40km ride at Modderfontein on my MTB and feel alright, how stupid would I be to ride the 94.7 on that level of fitness? Again, to have a good comfortable ride, not sub 3.
