  1. Holla Trails, long black route, 90km
  2. Hey, any good riding in Westbrook Balito. If not, where would the closest trails be?
  3. Hi Guys, Can someone please help me with directions to the "cave" at Hekpoort, I am training for the Epic and met some guys on the hill at Hekpoort and they mentioned there was a cave with a huge climb, but I forgot to ask for directions. If anyone can help that will be great. Thanks.
  4. Started in batch A3, fairly easy route with the normal slow traffic. Climbing was only 700m. Finished 2H47.
  5. Thanks, that was good timing.
  6. Looking for 70km entry, charge me whatever you want
  7. Hi All, I cant make this race due to injury, anyone interested in taking my place. Entry cost R 2400.00 but I am willing to sell it for half price? Let me know if you are interested?
  8. Looking forward to another well organized race - in for the 75km and 45km
  9. Have entered and paid for the 3 day stage race....
  10. Looks like they are 26" forks - case closed!
  11. Bump
  12. Hi, My one year old Giant 29er Fox forks are blown after one year. I need to replace them and have found a pair of Fox F-Series 120 RL Fit 15QR with tapered steerer. My question is will these work on the bike and are they made for a 29er with disc brakes???
  13. Banana's, chocolates (small bar one's), electrolite drinks, energy bars, protein drinks bars, basically anything that an average bicycle shop would stock. And some post race drinks like castle lite and jaggermeister...
  14. That sucks, hope you find the guys or your bikes....
  15. Checkout the Cycle Lab website under online entries / mountain bikes - they have all the races listed there and you can enter online. Babbas is flat and fast, nice place to find your feet with racing. My favourite is Vori- Berg.

    Giant Paint qaulity

Take it to the Giant Head Office overseas. If they just sorted out our problems then they would have customers for life, but instead they turn you away......

    Giant Paint qaulity

Will do. The paint chips off very easily and there are patches of clear coat coming off right on top of the decals. Very flipping p$issed off as it is a new bike! Think giant needs to do some quality control - and thanks to all the hubbers for opening a can of worms!
  19. Tried it this weekend, also loaded for three days prior to riding as listed on the bottle - CR@P!

    Giant Paint qaulity

I have a three week old Anthem X1 29er that has clear coat coming off from the decals and after reading this thread I am starting to question the paint quality of Giant!!! Will take this up with the LBS tomorrow.
  21. The 29er were not introduced to take over from the 26", it is just there as an additional option to explore different riding experience through the bigger wheel size. I am 6ft and weigh around 88kg's and feel very comfortable on the 29er. The 26" MTB will never loose its place in any way and will be around for years to come but because there is now this new big wheeled bike people are stressing out that they may be missing out on something or that they will have to layout big bucks to by a 29er FS. So you can decide on two different size bikes now but it is not for everybody. Lets not knock those who ride 29er's and the 26" rider should not feel like they are loosing out on anything. Bike speeds are very similar, but the overall feel of both bikes is very different - ride one and decide for your self! To may people out there are moaning about the 29er as if it is going to take over and it is not. It is just a much welcomed option for riders looking to experience something different or in my case, big riders looking for that extra edge. There is no right or wrong - just ride!
  22. My 2 cents....... I have been an average rider doing a couple of 94.7 mountain bike challenges over the passed 4 years on my 26" hardtail. My background is mainly racing offroad motorbikes and enduro races - only got into racing MTB's December last year. I did Vori-Berg, Babbas Lodge e.t.c on my 26" inch with no knowledge of components, wheel size or full suspension. So I decided to buy a Giant Anthem X1 29er and can comment on the following:- ~ Have shaved 30min off my time at Vori-Berg ~ My agressive style of riding (ex-offroad motorbikes) allows me to bulldoze over obsticles much better than the 26" MTB and the 29er goes through deep mud better. ~ You do get the feeling that it is not as nimble in the tight, twisty sections and the steep hills do seem a bit harder. ~ For marathon events and open track riding it does go faster. ~ I will be doing the MTN National Clarans MTB race on 19th February which is a XCM 78 km's and will be able to give some feedback after this event. Nobody is forced into buying a 29er and 26" bikes will always have their place when it comes to racing. I on the other hand have progressed much better on my 29er, racing times are quicker and the overall ease of riding is better on long distances. One gets the feeling that a 29er is like a 4x4 all terrain vehicle as it just goes over everything easier. I do feel that my legs are working harder on the 29er and as a result they tend to "burn out" after 50 km's so I try and pace myself. You need to put more power to the pedals to get the wheels turning but once you have gained momentum the bike flies but be carful of "burn out"
  23. Nokia4me - please tell me more. Where did you ride it, what did you think, does the frame look strong e.t.c
