  1. Also, if you guys/gals know of any trail in your area or wherever, that you would want us to cover, please please let us know so we can line it up and try to fit into the 2011 calendar.
  2. I must say that one of the biggest motivations behind the site is the poor quality of SA sites, we want to improve big time on that. Its almost embarrassing looking at some SA sites. We are putting in a lot of effort into making the site as usable and simple as possible. Graphics have been kept to a bare min. The design will be clean and simple. We will be going through a maturing phase like with most web sites that are done the right way where we will need a lot of input from everyone to constantly improve.
  3. Howzit all you cycling addicts, We are launching a new web site end of Jan (www.alloutmtb.co.za). The main aim of the site is to bring you action video clips of the MTB routes/trails and races in SA. Together with the video clips you will be able to view gps maps and altitude profiles, max and min ascents/descents etc etc. The clips will mainly feature highligts to give you a taste and wet the appetite to do the trails and ride the races. At the end of the year will bring out a huge dvd package with all the complete video clips and info of the trail/races we did for the year. We will also be do review rite-ups on the trails and races and comments from various riders (including some pro's) doing the races. The site will feature loads more like bike/component reviews (we actually ride the bikes we review) list of events for the year list of cycling shops in SA Training and nutrition articles Actual excercise video clips Also clips of some spectacular crashes Member Loyalty club offering great discounts and other benefits with various cycling shops and other retailers Interviews with some of the big guns in cycling, including riders, organizers, coaches, trail trackers, shop owners, sponsors etc and lots more We will be advertising here on the hub from end Jan so watch out for the banners and please check it out. SA have been waiting a long time for a site like this. Note that the site will not feature Forums as we would rather have everyone support all the hard work thehubsa has been doing for the cycling community. We will therefor support these forums. What we will have is the ability for members to comment on almost anything on the site. So remember to check us out on on 31 Jan 2011. have an awesome day and ride strong.
  4. Hi All, If you have a cycling shop or online cycling shop or are affiliated with one. Please PM me if you would like to get listed on a new web site we are launching at the end of Jan 2011? We would like to list each and every bike shop and online bike shops in SA in one section of the web site. Even if you provide products and service on a small scale from home like bike setups etc, please PM me. I cant give more detail about the web site as I feel it would be free advertising. Do not mis out at this opportunity. Listing will be free. If you want to know more about the web site, you can also PM me. Thanks Pieter Swart
  5. opens at 5:30 during the spring/summer season and closes at 19:00.
  6. Yes what irritates me is that I ordered my Polar RS800CX last week from bikeinn(DHL) took 3 days and it was in my hands. I already hate Parcelforce.
  7. Ride the bike as it is for at least 1 year. That 13kg's can only get you stronger. Unless your aiming for top 10% position on the big races like the Nissan series, dont bother spending money now. I believe that you only start going lighter and more expensive on your bike when you feel you cant improve your own fitness and weight. Since Feb this year when I rode MTB for the first time I lost 21kg's (106kg down to 85kg) and I now constantly finish in the top 10% of the big races. My weight can still go down to 82kg. After that, i will only start making my bike lighter. Oh yes, Im riding a Scott Scale 30 carbon full suspension weighing in at 12kg. Just my 5 cents.
  8. Can someone please help me. I purchased from crc and selected parcelforce to deliver. Below is the tracking status updates for my package. Currently I dont have a clue wher emy package is and when they will deliver. Who can I phone to help me? 9. I bought a Scott spark 30 3 months ago(second hand). The bike has already done the Epic and Cape Pioneer with the previous owner. I have also put it through its paces and its delivering with every rock in the way. Awesome bike in my opinion with lots of potential to go very light. If I'm not mistaken, the frame with rear shock weighs something like 1.95kg which is very light. I also agree, ride the bikes and take the one on which you feel the most comfy.
  10. Nope, its on the total opposite mountain range. The climb up to the church I would rate 6/10. The pofadder route I would rate 9/10 where 10/10 would not be ridable. Its is insanely technical, a lot of rocks and switchbacks you have to negotiate.
  11. Would like to know whom of the hubbers here have done this route at van Gaalens and what were your thoughts. Me and my buddy did it this weekend. We did the route both ways on Saturday morning. It was insane since we did the actual pofadder climb up the mountain last. But we made it to the top. I reckon this is awesome trainign for tuff technical stage races.
  12. I got this link from a buddy just now. Very usefull info http://www.cptips.com/knee.htm
  13. Thanks guys. I think it might actually be my seat height. I haven't checked (my bad) but in the last few training sessions it actually felt like my seat was too low. I thought its not possible because how can it move. Now that I think of it, the way I ride (like a hooligan) it is possible. Im gonna check it this afternoon. If its not that I will go the dr route. Im gonna take a well deserved rest the week before the Mankele race. Think that will also help for any possible over training.
  14. Hi All, I started mtb in Feb this year. Totally addicted now, like most us I started getting knee pain in the last 3 weeks. Ok, I must admit Im training very hard for the Mankele stage race but I also make sure that Im getting enough rest inbetween. What different factor can cause knee pain in your opinion?
  15. it makes me so sad to here this and at the same time so angry. R.I.P. our fellow cyclist.
  16. We're going to Swadini for the long weekend. I need to keep my treining going and would like to explore this beautiful part of SA. Do any of you know of existing mbt routes in this area?
  17. 32, 1.86m, 87kg, 8%bf, measured by means of skinfold test with caliper. You will get the most accurate measurement between this method and by mean of infra-red measurement. I so badly want to get down to 85kg but my wife says I have no more fat to lose. From the research Ive done 6% is the bare min you should go, things gets dangerous after that. If you want a professional measurement done call Dr Nico Ments(Pretoria) on 082 772 2471. They specialise in this area.
  18. Guys, I also gave my 5cents earlier on this post about Cajees, but now that I think of it. Shouldn't we maybe tell shops like these that their really suck and that their bad reputation spreads like wild fire. Tell the what they can do to improve, in other word do our bit to help these dudes and give them a chance. I will take the lead and drive to Cajees Centurion this week just to tell them that their are some bad rumors doing the round about them and its mostly about their bike servicing and their awful lack of knowledge in ther sales dept. I will then monitor a few weeks later to see if it improves. This will be my little project and it wont even take a lot of time. I challenge all of you to do the same!
  19. I totally agree guys. And its not just the one in Fourways, the new one in Centurion is just as useless. I went there to get a price on a rock shox SID world cup xx fork. The sales guy that helped me (if you can call it help) didnt know what a SID XX fork is and at first told that they dont have something like that. I told him bull #$%. And asked for the manager. He then took me to the guy behind the counter and this dude knew at least what it was. He then phoned for a price. Then told me R3500, which I knew could not be right for SID World cup XX and I told him its impossible. He phoned again, and then told he's sorry the price is R9900. I feel that if you a salesman you should know everything about the stuff you sell. This was enough to keep me away from that store forever.
