  1. Awfully big, guys!
  2. Just checked Shimano's site again (http://bike.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/SI_5XF0A/SI_5XF0A_001/SI-5XF0A-001-00-ENG_v1_m56577569830702524.PDF). This is how they describe it: "Add 2 links (with the chain on both the largest sprocket and the largest chainring" Zinn also describes a link as a '2 part thing', i.e. he says one chain link.
  3. It's the bike's original chain still, so it came like this from the manufacturer. I sure hope they know what it should be
  4. Also valid, thanks. Was just hiping to learn something new too.
  5. Good point. I know a chain link as a pair of links. I'll check the wording again. Thanks.
  6. I have read in Zinn's book to determine the length of a new chain, you wrap it around both bog cogs (bypassing the RD), bring the 2 points together at the minimum length, add one chain link, and cut it. But, I've recently read on Shimano's site that for the 10 speed hyperglyde this should be 2 chain links. Is 10 speed different in this sense? Should it be 2 links then? Sounds silly to question Shimano, but worried that I am missing something somewhere. Ps. I'm using a SRAM chain, but surely that wouldn't make a difference?
  7. Got my credits, thanks guys!
  8. @Drongo I didn't get it? Was the post from @Tankman supposed to be a joke, or useful information? Not everyone is a bike mechanic like you, so have a little patience.
  9. And do you press down to release the pedal then?
  10. Thanks guys, lesson learned.
  11. Idiot me stripped the thread of my one SLX crank arm (where the pedal attaches to the crank arm; had no idea the one pedal's thread is opposite direction). Is it possible to dril it out, tap it and retread it? If so, where can this be done, and what can I expect to pay? ~ I hope my terminology is right...
  12. This is no scientific answer, just opion: I ride a Scott Spark and a friend rides a Giant Anthem. The Anthem's wheelbase feels shorter. I thought it climbs better than my bike, but I prefer my bike at speed, on a downhill or even twisty and technical sections.
  13. Ahhh, is that the "Elevation"? I thought that is the height above sea level? Thanks, NOW I'm even happier than before.
  14. Love the app too, just wish they would also give total ascend.
  15. Waar is Sonstraal Hoogte?
  16. I had the exact same issue in the Sabie race as well as Saturday's Lionman. I went prepared with my USN Cramp Block and though I felt that it worked a bit, I still cramped 'n little and my right leg's quad muscles are extremely sore today. I also ensured to stay well hydrated (finished 1 bottle of 32GI, finished one bottle of water, had two small cups of coke at most water points, had two bananas and one packet of 32GI chews). My training rides are quite hard, but I have noticed that I stop more during training rides. I'm doing Magalies Monster in two weeks and would also like some pointers on what to do different.
  17. He's starting time was 5 mins after you. So, if you crossed the finish line 3 mins before him, he rode 2 mins faster than you. Each group's starting time only start when they are allowed to go, thus spreading the field (less bottlenecks at single track). This means that if I have a sprint finish with a guy and just beat him at the line, if his starting group was after mine, he would have beaten me with at least 5 mins.
  18. That means he started 5 minutes behind you, and actually beaten you by 2 minutes. 16 other people could have come in in that 2 minutes. So, its entirely possible.
  19. Did he start in the same group as you?
  20. My bad. While I'm doing that, why don't you ask the modurators to change this forum to 'Rave and Roses'
  21. I agree they are very efficient. This has been the longest that I have waited for results from them, and it was only one full day. I have normally found they have the results up on the same day. I find it frustrating that their link to the results PDF is either broken, or they only put the 'Results not available' in the PDF. Put it one level higher (on the site) and people don't have to download an empty PDF 700 times before you know wether the results are out. Its just common decency and good practice to say the least. I have been in web dev for many years. User consideration should be very high priority.
  22. AAARGH! Spectrum Sport, don't put a link on your website to an 'empty' results PDF, PLEASE! Why can't you just put "Results not available yet" on your website, so that I don't click on that damn link a thousand times to see if the results are available yet. I'm sure the people who helped me click that 794 clicks will agree.
  23. I enjoyed everything of the race. Did the 80km, and it was tough, very tough, but LOVED it! Had no queue at the gate, quite the contrary. Never too difficult. Please keep these kind of races coming, I LOVE them. Didn't ride all of the climbs, but darted every downhill like a monster (or so it felt). I thought it had fast sections (first 35), tough climbs, hair raising descends, great organised (we took a wrong turn and on the way back kicked myself that we rode over a big fat cross). Only my second marathon, but if they stay like this, I'll always be back. I can keep improving.
  24. PS. with a dirt bike background, you will LOVE Fountains. I did a bit of MX, and I feel like a little kid every time I set foot there. The faster you go, the better it gets!!
