There is a group that meets on Saturday mornings at Sharondale nursery. Speak to Gavin or Craig. They cater for fast strong riders and riders like me! Also, you can ride at Rietvlei. We ride Tuesdays & Wednesday evenings at 18h00 and Saturday afternoon at 15h00 or ride on you own.

Maybe we should design a sticker that says 'This Taxi supports Safe Cycling' or something to that effect. Need a sponsor for these. Anybody print stickers out there?!!!

Amateur, that is exactly what is needed. Education on both sides. IanJ excellent idea. I will be happy to start these 'road shows'. Maybe we can discuss further on Saturday.

OK jhag6969, you obviously been out of the loop for a while. Various fund raising efforts have been done on the Hub to raise these funds and signs have been erected in & around Gauteng. Thanks to those that gave unselfishly. I think if you can get those that actually use this route to contribute you will achieve success. Appeal to those guys here on the Hub and I am sure one or two other hubbers will contribute as well. If you belong to a club, approach them and discuss various fundraising efforts with them. Hold a nite race for road bikes at Killarney and charge an entry fee. Get companies (there are many cycling distribution companies in the Cape) to sponsor prizes. Appoach the Cape based Bicycling magazine and ask them to assist with this. Turn you anger into positive energy. Leave 15 minutes early on your commute tomorrow and stop all the other cyclists you see on the route and ask them if they are willing to contribute funds towards Cycle Safe signs on this road. Approach your company and others on this route and ask them for financial assistance and make a difference. If you need help just shout.

Count your blessings!! and do the following; 1. Buy yourself a really, really bright rear light and switch it on even during the daytime. 2. Buy yourself a safety vest and wear it. Rather be an uncool alive cyclist than a cool dead one!!!! 3. Ride defensively (I know you gonna say you do, but trust me, give it some thought). 4. The next time you see a Taxi, wave and give the thumbs up sign and you will be surprised how much room he gives you. 5. Summer is almost here. Just around the corner!!!

Then why not hold a race around Killarny race track. Ask CWC to donate a few prizes and charge a R50 entry fee and get some friends to sell the beer & boerie rolls and raise some dosh for signs. And if you win you can auction off the prize!!

Titus, just a suggestion. Get together a few guys, ask your club if you can host a fundraising event, sell some beers and boerie rolls and have a few signs erected. That way we don't piss off any motorists and everyone wins.

PB, I have a few vests and a jacket I will bring along. Must say, it seems we gonna have a great turn-out and the Metro thing is a bummer but I am sure with slowpoke & PB we can arrange something. I suggest we meet at the venue at 06h15 to discuss the route and to ensure we cover all aspects of this ride. Must admit, I can't wait!!!
