  6. She must have been a bit emotional not being able to defend her title this year due to her injury
  7. I had a great run at ODD yesterday . We had the best running weather which definitely helped a lot. I took it as a training run as I didn't want to risk an injury at this stage. The plan was for 6min/km so 5hours. I finished in 5:05 the last 3km caught me a bit off guard. I chuked a mattres and bedding into the back of my bakkie and left Johannesburg at 2:00. I was probably the third car at parking . I then slept until 5:00 Due to the traffic the start of the race was delayed with 30min which was not that bad because of the cloudy weather. I will definitely be back next year.
  8. My first ODD Looking forward to it. I tapered a bit this week although I feel like I'm missing out on training
  9. This morning I tried to run a 10km with the A team in our running group This came to mind
  10. I’ve been told that she is sadly still sitting with an injury :-(
  11. Correct NB 860 V8 But they are really good for us >100kg runners
  12. New shoes time. At R2400 a pair this is getting expensive [emoji15] These made it to 750km. Time to stop dragging the feet when the legs get tired. Someone told me they can be re-soled but I think it might be heals only. The support on the shoes is still perfect it's only the soles. Sportsman's also doesn't have my size in stock so I can't make use of my Vitality discounts but it's ok as I prefer to support the Sweatshop.
  13. Congrats on your first marathon Carpet. It gets easier I promise Not You only go faster the pain and suffering is always there ...
  14. I got a proper schooling at the Vaal marathon today. Plans was for a sub 3:40 at a 5:15 pace. First lap was great felt strong and relaxed. Then out of no where I was done. Heart rate below 140 but no go in the legs. Slowed down a bit and then realised I'm in for a long secondlap. Ended with a 4:16 . Good mental preparation especially when a 70 year old came flying past me. So leason learnt even being a flat race never underestimate a marathon it will hurt you proper. No idea why I bombed like I did. But big up to the Vaal Marshalls. One of the best races to do. Excellent roads crossing ice cold water and energade at the tables and easy parking . My only bug bear is the extra 500m they make you run around the field in the end :-) Ive now got some unfinished business and will definitely be back next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Ten years ago while training for my second Comrades I decided while I’m in peak form I’ll go run this race an easy training run. As I struggled to the end I was seriously reconsidering my BR goals for Comrades as I couldn’t even keep a sub 6min/km pace on 32km race.
  16. Vaal 42 for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
