  1. Good glad we have that sorted . Now if you can only take one thing away from this - your actions have concessions for others. Be safe Francois and relax a bit, you seem tens
  2. I did, the fact that you get upset by so many drivers ( excluding the idiot driving on the side on the gravel) means you are not reading and predicting the actions of cars. Once you can master that you will never lose your temper again. Not at cars or pedestrians . Next time you gooi n vinger, hit a mirror or kick a car you will forever change the attitude of that driver towards cyclist, no more friendly waves or gaps given to me thanks to idiotic behaviour like yours
  3. Its commuters like you making live hell for the rest of us. I've been commuting northern suburbs - sandton for the last 4years. Never have any alterations with motorist what so ever. This hitting mirrors off is not going to end well for you, neither is using pepper spray on motorist . Do some introspection and when you or on a bike respect the cars , you are playing a dangerous game with a high price. Stop trying to teach motorist lessons or to police cars you are not the traffic police . Leave cars alone stay out their way and assume you are invisible to cars.
  4. I hope she kissed the sore places better. :-)
  5. True but it's seems like throwing water bottles and aggravating motorist seems like a common occurrence from your post. It's not worth it, when commuting it's up to you to look out and be aware for your own safety. There is no right or wrong when you are a cyclist on our roads , only dead or alive. I prefer being friendly and polite, and after a few years of commuting the same route people tend to remember and recognize you. I found most motorist now to be very accommodating. Behavior like yours makes life difficult for the rest of us, next time the guy you pissed off ( him being right it wrong in that situation is irrelevant ) sees a cyclist he goes into a red mist and tries to run me over just because I'm also wearing Lycra. You ain't going to teach any one a lesson while you are on a carbon fibre bike.
  6. Idiotic behavior ,
  7. But with a serious design flaw on the glass face :-(
  8. Not taking any chances , going to isolate the metal part of the valves from the rim
  9. No not yet but thanks, busy reading the first one now . I just went to inspect the valves more closely now , the silver one does seem to have "rust" on the bottom and the other one is perfect
  10. I think we have winner, this makes sense. One rim corroded , one rim perfect, two different valves used. So Stan's is only safe with AL rims if you use the correct valve.
  11. I'm also used to run Maxxis Crossmarks and Stan's , done about 1500km flat free kilometers
  12. Yea second rim was still perfect . I just checked I do have two different valves one silver thread and the other one has copper/gold colour the ones rubber section does sit better in the rim. Might be that I did over do the tighting of the valve In order to get the valve to seal. What is think: AL that is anodized is hard and does not react with Stan's , as soon as there is any imperfection in the anodizing the Stan's attack the AL, so in my case when I over tightened the valve I damage the Anodising at the valve hole giving the Stan's a place to attack . Next time I'm at a bike shop I'll buy a small bottle of Stan's I'll then place on piece is bare Al and one piece of anodized Al in a bucket of Stan's and report back after a few weeks
  13. Doubt it when I got them all the stickers even the little ones with Ia/GB printed on was still one the rims , if they where washes that would not be there.
  14. Plausible , Hand tighten them but then I do have strong hands :-)
  15. Yea not a huge train smash have a spare set of XT rims , I'm still convinced it was the Stan's but maybe that's just me. Like I said I'm not expert when It comes to bicycles I just ride them . I got some green sludge from a work colleague , I'll see how that goes. Maybe I got some fake backyard brewed Stan's , seems like nothing can be trusted when it comes to bicycles
  16. Yes valve hole. I used some gasket maker around the damaged area and refitted the valve, will see if I make it to work tomorrow.
  17. Why they are fully sealed Plus the label say they are :-) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/21/7e5aqy8e.jpg
  18. No Rim tape , only tubeless valve, tyre, Stan's and air. Never had a problem until now.
  19. Was brand new XT rims bought of a fellow hubber , fitted new valves, filled with Stan's and rode for about three months, noticed a slow puncture on the front wheel. When I removed the tyre all the Stan's was at the valve, when I scraped the Stan's away I found the leak :-(
  20. I'm not an active hubber so I was not aware that Stan's will destroy Al rims. After three months one of my new XT rims are ruined by Stan's, there should be a HUGE warning on the bottle Luckily the rear one was not affected
  21. Good idea - train hard Bad idea training on Grosvener road Jhb at 17:00 in peak traffic in 5 man squad . Sovac guys are brave .
  22. I'm with Shifter on this one, advertise it at the price you are willing to sell it for. I walk in see the price and walk out to buy else where. I don't want to bargain for an acceptable price every time I want to buy something , and then feel like they did me a " favour" . Guess it's a culture thing and works for some people. But I don't like to stand at the counter and ask for a lower price when I know the marked price is way over valued. Last time I went the So who does not know how they operate went with . Afterwards she said she was embarrassed and that I must stop being a cheap skate. But really who will pay R700 for a Maxis 26" MTB tire ?
  23. I had to take my bike in to have a few things done that I could not DIY at home. What a pleasant suprise the service and advice I got from Joshua was really top notch. The bike was also finished on time as he promised. After my last experience with a bigger Cycle store in Woodmead Ill stick to the smaller ones from now on like Morning Side cycles and Eagle Canyon cycles.
