  1. View from the top of Plaisir de Merle.
  2. Years ago, when Midmar dam still had Rhino on their reserve, I did a race that went through there. I was going down a long, fast jeep track when a rhino ambled across the road in front of me. Brakes were grabbed. Pants were $h@t.
  3. I've lost count
  4. Quite honestly, I don't feel it's worth it. Axis is a budget brand and building up a bike is the most expensive way to do it. Perhaps if you have the majority of the parts on hand, or you are going to carry over parts from your current hardtail, then it may be worth it. Finding a shock might still be tricky though.
  5. The French are absolutely dominating. The percentages favour a French winner, but top four in the men and a woman winner to boot is incredible. Super happy for Vergier. Feel like he really deserved that and his exuberant demeanor is endearing. Pity the Goat was showing his age this week. Much harder to recover within a week, especially when you consider the mandatory partying that took place after last Sunday.
  6. Not sure why you guys would question the legitimacy of this highly reputable seller and their established business.
  7. Thank goodness I switched to Q20. Wouldn't want to ruin my drivetrain with WD40.
  8. Made the most of a beautiful morning.
  9. Minnaar looks like he's riding a BMX, the bike is so small! No wonder he's thriving in the 29'er era- he's finally riding bikes that actually fit him. Also, Brian Lopes is just so smooth. Another legend.
  10. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCI_Mountain_Bike_%26_Trials_World_Championships_–_Men's_downhill Check the "medalists" tab.
  11. The QR Morewood frames used a commonly available hanger design (Giant perhaps), but they machined their own, custom hangers which they supplied. These were way stronger than the forged hangers in common use before that. You are more likely to break your derrailer than to bend one of those hangers. The same applies here to the OP, as that is an incredibly strong hanger design which is likely to survive the usual bumps and bruises of mtb'ing. Accidents happen though...
  12. You make one comment about the guy's obsession with water bottles and he wants to block you...????‍♂️
  13. India also worked for me but Germany worked best with my provider. Surprisingly, I couldn't get it to work on my iPad, it only worked on AndroidTV for me.
  14. Patrick had left Morewood when that frame was released. You're probably going to have to get one custom machined for you. It might be common to another bike, perhaps another Hubber can shed further light on the matter though. Btw, lovely little bike that!
  15. I've had 4 Garmin watches, and every single one of them has given up within 2 years. When I sent the first in they lost it and replaced it with a new model. Another was replaced without issue, but was handled by takealot so that might explain the great service. The most recent stopped working after 18 months and it was the last Garmin product I will buy. They make great products that work really well, when they work. I've also found dealing with Garmin to be a painstaking and frustrating process. No thanks.
  16. There's hope for you yet.
  17. I get it now. No Camelback, two water bottles, need to know where you're going... The beauty of cycling is that all preferences are catered to. I will never see your point of view on any of the above Bru, but I celebrate the common enjoyment (do roadies enjoy anything?) of riding on two wheels. Back to the point of this thread though, any service provider/retailer that makes it difficult for me to find the cost of their service or product won't see my business.
  18. I feel like a RTT is a little bit like a Camelback for a car.... If your car doesn't have space to carry everything you need, then it's obviously not very good
  19. It sounds like you are able to work well with your "boss", and therein lies the rub. I loved working in the industry, it was the best 5 years of my life and the work itself brought bliss like none other. But.... the bosses.... Eish!
  20. Not sure how that would help. OP has bought another bike, there's nothing further to resolve. Darren has apologised and made assurances they will do better in future. I have dealt with hero trails over social media and visited the store in person. On each occasion their service has been stellar. Everyone gets it wrong from time to time, hopefully they won't let other potential customers slip through in future.
  21. I've decided I'm going to start keeping score for every time you mention the number of water bottle cages on a bicycle. I'd love to know what percentage of your total post count are fixated on your bicycles ability to carry adequate liquids....
  22. I don't see this as "stirring the hornet's nest" as much as stating your personal preference. Stirring is telling people that their preference is wrong. A full-sus is objectively better that a hardtail, just as a GTI is better than a Citi Golf. Many people love the challenge of riding a bike that allows them to push the limits on every trail and there are skilled riders that will take a hardtail down places that ordinary riders wouldn't dare, on any type of bike. I loved my hardtail and feel that it helped me to develop my skills under accelerated conditions because you've got to learn fast to keep up with downhill bikes. Full suspensions are inherently more forgiving and so you don't have to be as precise when riding gnarly trails. There's a place for both of these. In a market like ours, where short travel full sus bikes, which are seldom used beyond gravel roads, dominate, hardtail offer a taste of lightheartedness and fun. Always a good thing IMO.
  23. Having done a fair amount of buying and selling on the various platforms, there is a definite different between "is this available" on FB marketplace, Gumtree and theHub. On the Hub those are a valid query, and (when I actually see my messages) I will respond to them. On FB, for every 30 of those I respond to, 1 might follow up with a response of any kind. I no longer respond to those on FB. When I am interested in an item, it takes me mere seconds to type out "I'm interested in XYZ you have for sale, can I have more info" or the like. People making ridiculous offers, expecting delivery, and wasting a seller's time is part of it because you're dealing with people.
  24. If "Is it available" messages get you tilted, wait until people start low-balling you...
  25. I have a Caddy maxi. It can fit two bikes in with wheels on and 5 seats in play. You might struggle to do this with two larger 29er's, but there are plenty of ideas online to make these into a superb bike van.
