  1. Does OP ride a tri-spoke SS around muizenberg by any chance?
  2. 1 year older but with better suspension, higher spec gears and most with dropper posts. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/570070/scott-spark-930-l-fox-1x12 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/592849/scott-spark-930 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/578396/scott-spark-930-l-2018-fox-dropper https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/585721/scott-spark-930 https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/593843/scott-spar-930-2018 I'll give you 20k for your 970 (This does not constitute a formal offer and is not legally binding)
  3. Starts thread asking for opinions. Fights everyone with a different opinion. Glws.
  4. I've run Shimano pedals since 1999 and never experienced play as you have described. Recently sold my XT pedals that I had for 4 years. Not a single mishap from them. Currently on XT trail pedals and they are the best I've had yet.
  5. I'm not a member nor do I ride the trails so I have no horse in this race. I do find it laughable though that the club has 1.6m in their account, but complains about the cost/effort of repairing trails. Isn't that literally what a portion of the membership fees are for? The closest analogy I can think of is a golf course threatening to PK members for destroying the fairways with divots. It's part of the game, intentional or not. IMO the club must do their jobs and use the member's fees to fix the berms instead of threatening violence.
  6. Standard stem is 50mm, handlebars 570mm wide, flat. I put on a Rapide 35mm stem and the bars came off a Rook SS. Think they are like 550mm wide with a 15/20mm rise. Standard seatpost looks about 50mm setback. I can't see any reason to get the trail version over this.
  7. Mate from Jhb was down for the weekend so took him to a few of the nicest spots in the Winelands: Paarl mountain (Laborie, Specialized), Plaisir and a quick loop at Banhoek to round off the weekend. Only rode 58km but did 1850m of climbing.
  8. Looking for a 29er, 100mm travel qr fork for a friend. Tapered steerer. Happy to pay. Jhb preferred as he's that side.
  9. Got to say that I'm super impressed with the quality. The forks are really nice and smooth with good damping and rebound. Even has a clutch derailleur! Now just to see if I can convert it to tubeless somehow...
  10. Oldest is turning 5 in a few weeks. I think he's going to enjoy this. I switched out the cockpit for slightly narrower bars with a rise, shorter stem and zero setback seatpost. Edit I just realised that his came specced with some random brakes and not the Tektro that are specified on the Titan website.
  11. As far as I know, Winelands (Paarl network) is not a club. We pay for yearly trail access. I've never received a newsletter (including the correct administration of PK's or otherwise).
  12. Thanks Droo! He's away for the week and didn't end up taking the bike with him, so I will get back to you when he is home.
  13. It was bought, used, 6 months ago. He does not ride anything technical. Quite likely just long term wear and then a small drop to end them. I will share this thread with him and try source a cheap thru axle fork and front wheel for him.
  14. My friend sent me this pic of his bike. I've never seen this before, anyone have a theory what happened? He is a cycling noob and needs to remove the front wheel to transport his bike. I suggested improper installation of the front wheel at some point. He said there were no noises while riding though...
  15. We all have bad days. That is not justification for touching someone else kids in anger. Call the hotel manager, go speak to the parents. Heck, get your own team manager to take care of the problem. But chasing underage girls into their room and touching them to intimidate them? Please man.
  16. I don't think anyone believes the kids should have got away without consequences. I am, however, astounded by the number of people that believe it is justified for an adult male to lay hands on underage girls, under any circumstances. Surely the onus is on the adult to behave as such. There were many ways he could have responded, chasing them in his underwear and grabbing them was not an appropriate way to resolve the issue.
  17. The article states that they were shoved into the wall and one onto the ground. He is a grown man, he should have more self-control than two teenage girls.
  18. I have a used one that you can have. Pm me.
  19. The search is over! Act now cos this will go quick... (Comic sans) https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/kids-bikes/585913/commencal-meta-ht-20
  20. Check out Chain reaction. I imported some Spank 359's, landed cost was just over R1000/rim.
  21. I think you are lost!
  22. Now that you're here... What is the actual weight difference between the 20" Hades and the SE version? I'm keen on the SE but a 30% price premium is a hard sell.
  23. These are after I washed everything down a bit...😭
  24. I don't get this thread. Why are people so upset about me (and others) enjoying the competition that Strava offers? I don't get the opportunity to do actual races, so Strava allows me a bit of fun competition to help motivate me on my solo rides. I completely understand it's limitations and the many variables involved and I certainly don't lose sleep over my results. But is it really such a crime to wish that at the very least the leader boards are free from cheaters? (whether it's ebikes or any other form of cheating) And for those that do take Strava segment times seriously, why does that upset you enough to chastise them for it? Maybe that's the real issue which needs to be explored.
  25. In my youth I did a brief stint of BMX racing. One weekend I had a crash that resulted in concussion. Being young and invincible, the next weekend I was back racing again. The race went without incident, but after the race I wanted to have a go at a triple that I hadn't been able to clear all day. Helmet was with my gear so I just went for it. Huge crash ensued, bad concussion and my short term memory has never been the same. I never ride without a helmet.
