  1. It's not much to look at, but I'm quite excited about my Works 1.5° angle headset.
  2. I'm curious about this statement. Is this with aluminium or carbon frames? Where does this data come from and what is the sample size? Having personally reamed and tapped hundreds of aluminium frame bb's, I find it hard to believe that modern bikes are not properly aligned, especially on the higher end of things.
  3. I have absolutely no doubt that were I riding I would relish the break. I was just under the impression I was watching a mountain bike race and not a road or gravel tour...
  4. Flip I'd be bleak to pay so much money to ride the ultimate mountain bike race, and then find myself on tar and district roads for almost an entire stage. Kinda does feel like I'm watching the Tour de France today...
  5. Fixed that for you.
  6. Are they standard size headset bearings? My lbs sold me headset bearings for about R100 each a few weeks ago.
  7. I thought my old V8 Range Rover was expensive per km...😳 Even if you complete the entire event it's R73.53/km.
  8. The linkage is wrong for this. This looks like the one. They were sold in South Africa under the "Edge" brand, model: Pyrenees. https://www.edge-design.com.tw/Spec-PYRENEES 29ER.html
  9. You're not wrong... But today's puncture was on a slow uphill section. It is mountain biking, and things go wrong, regardless of the speed. I'll bet Nino wasn't the only person to get a puncture today, and many people slower than him will get punctures/cuts going over the same terrain as him before the week is out.
  10. Welcome to the community. This is quite likely the safest classifieds platform in the country. Most sellers these days provide the option to use BikehubPay. You can read how it works here: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/bike-hub-pay It provides you with peace of mind that the item will be as advertised. Looking at the seller's rating will also give you an indication of what it is like to deal with them. Good luck.
  11. Had fun sessioning the flow trail at Plaisir yesterday afternoon. I'm realising how much I suck at jumping 😒
  12. What type of zip ties are we talking? Apparently there are zip ties and zip ties...
  13. Good news then, when I rode there yesterday i saw that they've started work on the bottom half of the flow trail. What they've done already looks sick. It does cross over the trail that takes you to the top though so not sure how that will work on busy days.
  14. That River near the end has a lot less water at the moment.
  15. I'll be doing about 30km at Plaisir/Boschendal tomorrow morning if you want someone to show you around. Might be a bit slow for you though.
  16. Boschendal, Banhoek and Plaisir are all same pass
  17. Boschendal should have you covered and there are lots of super fun trails there. If you start at Boschendal you can ride a loop on the Banhoek side of the road (and even connect with Banhoek if you feel like doing a quick loop there), then you can cross the tar road and do a relatively tough 30km (+-1000m elevation) loop all the way through to Plaisir. That can be made longer if you throw in a few sessions of the flow trail.
  18. I can stomach waiting, but what grinds me with Bike Addict is that unless I contact them first, there is radio silence. My most recent order took 6 days just to get a quote out of them. Total time from online order to delivery was 2 weeks. My latest order from Rapide was delivered a hair over 24 hours after it was placed....
  19. Take your wife on a weekend retreat to the Cape. Drop her off at a Spa while you go for a bike fit. Problem solved.
  20. Just gonna leave this here.... https://mailbait.info/
  21. Years ago, my 14 year old sister took my dad's bike down the road to the local shops. Her friend waited outside with the bikes while sis went in. A guy came up to her, shoved her and took dad's bike. It was a one of a kind Giant XTC that had been imported from the UK, so was very distinctive. About 6 months later, I'm driving down the road and see a guy riding dad's bike! I cautiously follow him while calling my dad and trying to figure out what I'm going to do, when some cops happen to drive past I flagged them down just as dad arrived and we got to take the bike home. My sister's friend then had to deal with multiple court dates, identification of the suspect etc, only for him to be let off with a warning because "he stole it to use for transport to work" and it was his first offence.
  22. Just want to say, after looking at this link on Tuesday and not finding anything else, I placed an order with Rapide at 10h30 yesterday morning. At 10h40 today it was delivered in Paarl. I've had local bike shops take longer to reply to an email than it took Wayne to complete and deliver an entire order. Quality is top notch to boot.

  24. This was exactly my downfall. I specifically went out for an easy ride and let my guard down. If I'd been pinning it I would have been riding aggressively enough to make the corner.
  25. It's a section of the Paarl DH track, called Rail DH on Strava. Literally the first corner from the top. I wasn't expecting the line choice and tried to cut in to jump it, front tire washed out on the loose, off-camber bit and spat me out over the jump.
