Same happened to me. I used a small kitchen blow torch (used for making crème brulé) to heat it up (glowing red) and bent it back very very slowly.

I bloody hate this thread so much, but need to give a general warning to people riding on Table Mountain. Did a night ride with five other guys up to Blockhouse from southern side on Wed. The weather wasnt great and the wind was pumping. On the way home you come around the corner after the Three Kwaggas segment and pass through a tunnel of trees straight up from Rhodes Mem down to the left. Its the darkest spot on the route and the perfect spot for an ambush. Three guys were loitering in plain sight, clearly waiting for an unsuspecting victim. They started approaching our lead rider (he was about 50m in front), but realised they were outnumbered when the rest of us came around the corner. They turned and walked away and acted as if they were just chilling there. One guy even put his earphones on. Could not see if they had any weapons with them.

It's almost been a year on from the launch of the new rims. Has anyone got some experience to say whether these new generations rims are better than the previous generation? Have they fixed the cracked nipple issue?

How does this work? Which product to buy / how to connect/track / costs? Has anyone had actual experience with tracking a stolen bike?

Jeez. Shocking. Sorry to hear. I've done Blockhouse twice in past few weeks and I've ridden past someone matching your description each time on upper part of bastard's. This is the first incident on Table Mountain in quite some time, I think? Not good news.

I’m trying to figure who are the mountain bike cycling clubs / riding groups in Cape Town southern suburbs. I am looking for a group to join on weekday evenings (one, sometimes twice a week) and weekend rides (Sat or Sun). As far as I know there are the following clubs, but looks like they mostly do road rides: Club100 Freewheel Cycology Atlantic cycling Somewhere I read about a mid week ride departing the Newlands fire station around 06h30. Not sure if this is a club thing or informal group ride. Does anyone have specific info about any other mountain bike clubs or groups rides in Claremont, Rondebosch, Newlands area? Any info will be appreciated.

Having followed the Epic quite closely I was super happy to see Speed Company Racing win on the last day. There are no perfect tyres out there. I've used the following combos on my xc bike: Spez Ground Control 2.3 front & Fast track 2.3 rear Vittoria Barzo 2.35 front, Mezcal 2.25 rear Maxxis Ardent Race 2.35 front, Ikon 2.2 rear Best value for money vs performance vs lifespan in my opinion is Maxxis.

I am not familiar with the area. Where are these spectator points exactly and are they easily accessible by car?

Any tips / advise? Where is the best spot....

I think they come from the same factory as Specialized, but imported to SA as a no name brand bike frame. @Skubarrarides one, I think?

I enjoyed the marathon race and explored trails that I've never been on. I will return for sure! My highlight was the Banhoek and Plaisir trails. It was also cool to see Jolanda Neff in action. She started 5mins behind the elite men's bunch and still finished 20th overall. Lowlight was encountering multiple young kids (<10 years old) on their small bikes, after all the routes merged at (I think) Boschendal trails. They were crying because they were scared of the technical terrain, alone and dehydrated. They should not have been on that route alone in the heat.

Just curious, after setting the shock pressure, who just jumps on their bike and ride, and who does the whole autosag thing? Curious to hear for and against views.

Thanks 117. I stay in Claremont in CPT southern suburbs, so decided not to start from home purely because of the safety risk of having to ride through the entire city before I get to more open roads closer to Stellenbosch side.

Specialized Epic, so a MTB xc bike. You should be more than fine on a Trek Supercaliber.
