  1. Certainly looks the business, but having done more research there are too many things I would need to change(FD, BB), but at +- R4000 incl shipping to SA its a great deal. To buy of the shelf it would be great as a complete bike
  2. Does anyone have any contact details for Dragons Sports, or do they not deal direct with the public?
  3. Here are ther frame geomtry's, is there anything I should be aware of? The sizing also seems a bit weird,as I normally ride a 20" large, but according to this I could fit onto a 18". The prices on these are awesome for a carbon frame.
  4. Geez that looks like its glowing
  5. Has onyone else got one of these or heard much about them? It seems to have gotten some great reviews on MTBr & Bike Radar and a few other sites, It comes in at 1300g. It has been based around the Scandal. http://www.cyclespro.co.za/whippet.html
  6. Eish, why is this happening then? Seems ridiculous, maybe I need to email Conti and ask.
  7. I'm thinking of calling around at various LBS to see if they have anything, even old stock hidden in a stock room. Otherise it will be a no-name brand.
  8. I did all of the above, even scrubbed the inside of the tyre to get all the old Stans off, which took me an hr, I also made sure the rim was clean and fee of any old Stans, and tape. So it seems its not just the Conti tyres that do this. Stupid tyres Oh well, guess I will have to live with it, just hoope it doesn't cause an issue later on.
  9. Its crazy that you spend so much money on a tyre for it to do this. Oh well, guess I will be doing a lot of skidding to wear it down.
  10. I got my first flat tyre in almost a year and a half of riding , I tried to bomb the tyre twice but it would not stay inflated, and I could not find any holes to try to plug either. It just went flat. So this is where the real issue comes in, the tyre in now "warped" after having to ride it at a very low pressure to get back to the trail centre, I also pushed a bit. I took the tyre off, cleaned out the old Stans, put new rim tape and a new valve on, the tyre is now staying inflated and I was able to pump it with a floor pump, it has seated correctly and the rim is running true, but the when I spin the tyre it does not run true ont the bike. I've just had it checked by my mechanic this morning on his trueing stand and everything is running true but the tyre looks "warped" Has anyone else had this issue, is the tyre now stuffed?
  11. After reading this whole thread, I would so love to do this race. I'll make sure to bring my pepper spary just in case an angry elephant needs sorting out.
  12. I was looking at that last night, they look nice . I would at least get someguaranteee for that price, and I will beinsuringg it, so if there are issues I can always claim for it. The price is pretty good, considering they were R8.5k. I'll have to read a bit more into them.
  13. If it were me making the choice I would still spend the most I could afford on a better speced or newer model bike. I'm also not saying that its not a great choice either, cause it's a great bike as others have said. You won't be totally unhappy but in a years time you may be thinking I should have gone 10 speed. Good luck with whatever you deceide
  14. I'm hoping a headset will be included, or is that not normal when buying a frame? So far it looks like I could need a few other new things. I'm surprised that there are not more 26" secondhand frames about.
  15. I am looking to upgrade my current XC 26" Ali frame to a 26" carbon frame. I've been doing a lot of looking & research(the hub and via my friend Google) but am not sure of a few things, so need some help please. As this is the first carbon frame that I'm buying, I want to get it right. So please bare with me. I will be using the bike for mostly XC riding & for race days, also to do training on the road. I'm looking to spend about R5000(maybe R5500), I realise thats not a lot, but thats what my budget is as I also need a new fork. Is it a better idea to be buying new, a branded frame or a no-name brand? I've looked on The Hub and there is not much in terms of what I want at the moment. I'm also a bit weary in what could have happened to a 2nd hand frame , something that even the previous owner knows nothing about. I've read into the supposed perils of buying a no name brand from e-bay, but the cost of a branded frame is kinda putting me off a bit, hence if I was to go this route it would be to buy through a local supplier as they offer aguaranteee(small peace of mind). I've found a few sellers here on The Hub ( Summit, CycleBuzz, Concept). Does anyone know who or where else I can look, ideally it would be local. What should I be looking for in terms of geometry for a XC carbon frame? With regards to size, I know I'm a large, but can also just fit onto a medium. Is there a way to kind safeguard (checking measurements) that I order the correct size, bearing in mind my current two frames are a large. Whats with a curved top top versus a straight top tube, is this purely aesthetics or does it make for a better frame(stiffness, handling etc) And no, I do not want to buy a 29er Many Thanks
  16. I do the same, I don't get to hot either and it saves the ears & neck from getting burnt. I ride with a BBB moca, which was R1250, I know its over your budget, but I never worry about it being to hot, even with the humidty and heat of Durbs
  17. Not sure there is such a thing as a "hot weather helmet", but best best is to to go try the lightest, most well vented you can. Helmets are a personal fit, so hard to recommend one just based on what you need specifically, cause for that pleasure you will pay more then a grand unfortunately.
  18. @ ADMIN - What ever happened to the idea of Hub T-shirts? Is it still a possiblity?
  19. Bwah ha ha, may as well make it like the trail at Oak Valley
  20. Will they not get scratched to hell.
  21. My mate was a bike courier in London, and most DO NOT stop at traffic lights, time is money. He still reckons it was the most harrowing job he has ever done.
  22. I swear this is why I was just sick for the last week.
