  1. Could you please elaborate a bit more on the responsiveness side of things. From the sounds of it, I should be loving life when I take it out for a spin on Wednesday So much of excited now
  2. Its funny that the manufacturers say that about the responsiveness of carbon bars, would the response not be coming from the rider? The carbon bars do look way better then the bars I've just switched from
  3. I'm not sure about going with a carbon stem and would be interested to hear what other say. I need to get a longer stem some time soon.
  4. The carbon will soak up the some of the reverberation from the trail, I've just switched over and can give you more details when I ride with it for the first time tomorrow afternoon. I've just got an Easton EC-70, having changed from a Race Face Ali bar. There is the weight saving, I saved 120g when changing over.
  5. What!! Am I in a new catagory now? Phew, just checked, still another 4 years till that happens.
  6. He just spoke of "Stanley" today, I was so excited that if he told me something else I missed it, but I will find out more tomorrow when I go see him. The vice idea is a good one , I needed one the other day. Ive already for a good set of drivers, pliers and torx keys.
  7. The Torque Wrenches is what I was looking at getting myself having recently got a carbon frame. I would also like a quality chisel, and some decent woodworking tools would be good. But as I've also said, I can't go to overboard.
  8. I can see this being an extended lunch break I was told today that the cost of a Stanley tape measure, is like R5, yet they sell for almost R50 +++ in the shops.
  9. My best mate has just started a business selling tools to the buliding and other trades. So he posed the question, what do I want? They have a catalogue of 18 000 tools, equipment etc that I can choose from tomorrow for my birthday present. What should I choose without going to overboard, bearing in mind I want cycling related tools as well. I do have a good tool kit that I've built up already, so don't want to be to greedy. So far I've thought of a couple things, Torque Wrench Ratchet Set Full spanner Set
  10. Tell me about it, I scratched my brand new prescription Ray Bans two after getting them, not a happy bunny. I've got a pair of adidas Adizero, and love them, no misting feel light and have had them made into photocromatic prescription.
  11. Sorry to hear about this. hope you make a full recovery. Just don't rush your recovery. Not to scare you, but my uncle ended up having 25 separate hip ops over his lifetime, and still wound up in a wheel chair eventually.
  12. Something is telling me he is an Asian bloke, lol.
  13. He was apparantly hitting the jumps so hard he was flying almost as high as some of the riders when they sitting on their bikes
  14. I see Greg Minaar got a 21st place with a time of 2h06m even beating Jeremy Thopson in the process. He was busting out with huge airs, lol. http://www.roag.co.za/results/2012.aspx
  15. Not seen it yet, I can only imagine what was said, lol. Will have to see if I can catch one of the many repeats
  16. I think he was referring more to bicycle helmets, but I can see the problem with the motorbike helmets, so what of the outer casing, can't you just get the padding replaced?
  17. You would need to look at the life span of polystyrene, wouldn't you? I reckon that its a bit of the old marketing ploy. A bodyboard is made form the same stuff and is still useable and has remarkable stiffness 5 years down the line.
  18. Thanks all The bike rides like a dream, was riding it like I was my Trance and it was just so fast , just didn't hit the jumps too hard, but otherwise and it was taking all the punishment I got throw at it, climbs like a monkey and is so responsive certainly money well spent for me, can't believe its taken me this long to get a carbon bike I will say riding a hardtail after being on a dual suspension does give for a slightly harder ride and certailnly makes you more aware in taking the right line instead of being bit lazy, but boy was I loving every minute of it and can see the Trance getting a tad jealous
  19. Had the most awesome birthday(35) today in years , getting older has certainly not slowed me down. It started with an awesome 45km ride this morning on my birthday pressie to myself, followed by a great braai with a few beers, good friends and family, swimming in the pool, kids running around as I used to do at my folks place, brought back so many good memories of me being a kid. Then to top it all of my football team smashed our biggest rivals 5-2. Come on the Arsenal. It would have been the perfect birthday if the wife had been here to share it all. Life is good
  20. What else is new, besides the highball? Nice, but not for me.
  21. Maybe they were having a nervous breakdown as well, did they make it to the end?
  22. Thats a sweet looking machine , they are awesome to ride I'm sure you will be having many, many, many happy miles on that
  23. Awesome, read some good reviews on this bike after you said you were getting it. This is your first 29er, so how did it compare to your 26" full sus?
  24. Very NIce Whats it weighing in at being a fatty? Thats the bike I'm talking about
