Coming from a graphic design background I still do not see the similarities, colours, maybe but red, black & cream, even that is a massive stretch in my humble opinion. I know it happens all over the world, that's a given. To base this purely on a patent in Canada still seems weird and they are doing more harm to brand then anything Not knocking the brand, as I have stated I like the brand and like there products, won't stop me lusting after them, or buying them either.

Agreed they have the patent in Canada. No similarities in the font, to then look at logo design of a shield and scroll is just totally ridiculous, how many other companies use the same idea? The word Roubaix to be patented is also ludicrous as it's a geographical place, if he had the money to fight this I think you would find he would come out on top.

Specialized claims this is matter of defending a legally owned trademark. Larry Koury, managing director of Specialized Canada Inc. told the Calgary Herald that, "A simple trademark search would have prevented this. We are required to defend or lose our trademark registration." Koury cited Specialized's registration of the word "Roubaix" in Canada's federal government trademark database.

You are comparing a trail bike to a XC marathon bike, of course one will be slower then the other, where all bikes speced the same?I know you went there completely open minded but you seem to be missing the point a bit. Did the Giant guys setup the bikes exactly to your own personal bike? IS your own personal bike the same specs as the Giant bikes you rode, all this makes a difference. Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm just trying to get as much info as possible, nothing against you or anything.

My point is that I think that in order to get a better review, you should have done a back to back on all the bikes ie Trance 26"vs27.5vs29er etc. The only reason I'm asking is I'm in the market and am solely looking at the 650b range of bikes. Your own bike is setup 100% for you. This is more along the lines of I need more info as to what when wrong, maybe you might have taken the wrong line a few times as you were not used to the bike or something.

What was the real let down, besides that you were not as fast? Which of the bikes felt better besides your own bike. Your review is far to vague. You would need to take each bike in all sizes on the same route to make this review more valid in my opinion.

Maybe I should trademark Durban or Cape Town for that matter and take the city to court for it? Spez themselves have stolen a name, right or wrong?

Still not seeing anything in the classifieds, especially the roubaix?
