  1. Hi fellow Hubbers. This might seem like a stupid question to some of the professionals here, but I am new on trainers so I need some advice. I normally do a 30km or 1 hour ride during weekdays, but with the winter coming, I need to get on the trainer. It was raining this afternoon so I thought that today would be a good start. I was on the trainer for 30 minutes and to be honest. It felt like I road for more than an hour. My question is: How much time should I put in on a trainer to do an equivalent to say an hour on the road? I might just ad that I started today doing 5minute intervals with low cadence and more intesity and then lower intensity with higher cadence. That means 3 sets of each. Your input and advice will be much appreciated.
  2. Well said Mushilele. I also thought about this during my ride. My question is... Is it so difficult to put your empty sachet in one of the back pockets. For %^$& sake there is three pockets. Use the one for the full sachets, the other one for the empty ones and the third one to dump your macho ego in.
  3. Ai die Hub is lekker! Another Soapie in progress. Just wondering what the name of the soapie should be?
  4. I might just look for some potholes up Chappies en Suikerbossie to dunk my front wheel into it. Then I would have a great excuse.
  5.
  6. Damn. I only saw this post now. Too late to have seen the actual ad.
  7. Pitty one can't ride the Argus with a Kreepy Krauly.
  8. BEAUTIFULL!!
  9. I bought the X tools set in December and the pedal spanner has already been stripped. So it is not good quality at all. I would also suggest that you have a look at the specific tools you need for the specific jobs. Then buy them when you need it. The quality of BBB and Pro also look much better to me that X Tools.
  10. Agree with you anodised. Gaterskins is not your lightest you'll get. Trust me. I am a heavy guy and has done 4000km with a pair. And they are still good for the trainer. These tyres are really bulletproof. Just don't ride them too soft. You might get sidewall problems with it. I pump mine ate least 7 Bar. Over the past 4000km's I can remember not more that 5 punctures. And that was all thorn realated.
  11. Very nice to see a positive post and a positive refferal! Us Hubbers should do this more often!
  12. So if you don't "bother" to search are you the winner then?? Wow!! Lot of winners on The Hub.
  13. Wow!! Looks great!!
  14. Hi Drpain. Welcome to The Hub. I am really no expert in all the technical stuff. I bought a secondhand Specialized Epic a couple of months ago for a m#@$ bargain. So am actually 'n groetjie in the MTB business. The only advice I can give you is to try and find the January Issue of Bicycling. There are a couple of entry level MTB's in with some reviews of it. Before you buy anything, go and sitt down and think of what you are planning to do with the MTB. Do you want to go mainly XC? There are a couple of nice brands which I think will do good. In my opinion... Just stay away from the Nomad. It weighs a ton!! One of my friends bought one to start riding with us. At the biginning I could not understand why he could not keep up on the climbs. He is actually about 25kg's lighter than me. When I picked up his bike the other day. I could understand why he suffers so much. Good luck with the buying process!!
  15. Clips is the way to go! If you fall over, you fall. In my opinion... That put some extra fun into MTB. If you have a partner that rides with you, it is a lot of fun to see him go down in a simple stupid manner. Last Sunday afternoon was my turn because of some lekker thick sand. I had a couple of falls already and I am not an experienced Mountain Biker. Ive only started a few months back. None of the falls was so bad that I could not laugh about it. You obviously will get a couple of scratches and bruises. In my opinion... It is cool and part of the adventure. So... Stop worrying about falling down. I have done the same. When you worry, you always look and steer (not knowing that you do) in the direction of the fall. Instead. Get your focus on your goal; for example the hill that you are going to climb or the water hazzerd that you have to go through. And before you know it, you have mastered the obstacle. Good luck!! Happy riding!!
  16. Hi Caerus. I ordered stuff on the 24th of December and got it about 2 weeks later (due to public holidays). My order status still shows processing. Best thing to do is to send them an email to get the tracking number. That is if you took the Parcelforce option. Don't know what is going on on their site. I send them an email regarding the problem but they has'nt come back to me yet.
  17. You should ask yourself the Question. Am I really a pro cyclist who rides a bike like Burry Stander or Kevin Evans? If you are... Buy the Specialized. If you are just a rider like me who rides to be fitter and in a better state of health. Buy the Rudy's. Bear in mind. You can almost buy the 2 Rudy's for the price of one Specialized. Both are great helmets and both have the same purpose. Always think like this... The money that you save, buying the Rudy's, you can spend on another nice gadget. I love gadgets!!
  18. KK for me. 8:23. my first ever Argus. Cant wait!!
  19. That is correct yes. Just switch through the wheelsize settings back to whichever bike you choose and you are set. To be honest... Polar could have done more to make you switch faster between 2 bikes. But that is only my humble opinion.
  20. Hi GhostRider 2 Activate your polar by pressing the middle key. Press the Next button (Right Key) untill Settings show on your screen. Press the middle button (Start) once. Press the right button (next) untill you get to Bike Set. Press Middle button (Start). Ther will be a number (either 1 or 2 ) that will flicker. Press Set (Right) button to chose between bike 1 or 2. Press the middle button. It will show Autostart on/off and then Cadence On/off and then the wheel sizes. make your choice by pressing the right button (Set). Run through this untill it gets back to Bike 1/2. Press Back (Left button) untill you are back to the clock mode. Press left again and it will be put into standby mode. Hope this help.
  21. Hi RudoJ I can't vouch for the Sigma but in my opinion... Go for the Polar. I have a CS200, paid unfortunately a fortune for it because I was itching to buy one and did not do my homework well. Now I am regretting not waiting for the CS300. I could not find a CS300 at that time. There is not much difference between the CS200 and CS300 but I think the watch part of the CS300 is making it the better choice. If you are a Vitality member, the Polar is definitaly the one. You get points for all your practice sessions, increasing your vitality status. My LBS is selling the CS300 brand new for R1795. In my opinion... That is really a good price.
  22. Thanx for all the advice guys. Tuition fees are going to be paid. I reassembled everything but the hub still makes that scratching sound. So I rekon there might be another problem. Maybe with the cone or something. So yippeee!! Of to the LBS I go. Only a 500km drive.
  23. I see that I am going to pay tuintion fees on this one. I am now not even shure if the balls were packed one big one small. I am pretty shure that the lefthand side had the bigger balls in it. Could it be that the one side (say the freehub side) had the smaller balls and the other side the bigger?
  24. Thanx for all the great info and advice guys!! The different ball sizes still worries me. No pun intended. Anybody have some info regarding this??
  25. Hi MaxUmis. Thanx for the info. It is an A-Class Hub by Alex. It is a little bit too late to notice how many balls there were on each side. I did not realize that I should check. Anyway. Tuition Fees. Another thing that I have noticed is that the balls are 2 different sizes and were packed one big one small. Should it be like that?
