  1. To be fair the Tour didn't help any of the pure sprinters in anything. They did how ever help remove the classic show down that is the last stage into Paris.
  2. Aqua Blue didn't even get an invite to any of the Grand Tours so not too sure if that is going to help Cav' in his pursuit of Merckx record.
  3. Wow, that is super generous. Troops and Co are a pro outfit of trail builders and cost so I wonder who is covering their costs. Pretty stoked as it's going to be my new fitness angle. I can winch up long climbs and then hammer down no worries but sprinting around that lil' loop as fast as possible was a different work out all together.
  4. Don't expect a Tokai Cobra (or even Vasbyt) but it's here...
  5. Justin @ Freewheel Cycology. I called them as their name is on each of the route markers and seemed like a good start. I tried calling TMNP but couldn't get any response. I'll try again tomorrow. If any one knows more details then please confirm. I know when it launched back in about 2016 you needed a permit from The Gear Change or Table Mountain Bikers but post on this thread in 2017 seems to suggest that ended. I'll also ride past TGC tomorrow and see what they say.
  6. So it seems that you can ride it with a standard Table Mountain Activity Card.
  7. What I liked was you could ride the little rock rolls or the chutes normally or take a different line and make it more of your own, a bit more interesting. Like roll in from that underground water tank rather than just come round the trail or make a drop off the bigger rock roll rather than the step downs that are there. Quite nicely thought out for a play track. I'll ring freewheel cycology as their logos are on the sign boards.
  8. Any one know what's the deal with the track at the moment? I rode there ages ago when it was first new and it was a bit of fun but actually a bit boring. I had a ride this morning down there and was really surprised. Seems like Trail Troops have been doing a bit of work there and now there are some cool little tech features. Couple of rock rolls a little chute and some pump features. Look, it's not Jonkers but I had a blast and you can really make some skills improvement with some of the bits they've added as well as flow on the berms. Truthfully, my 'trail bike' was a bit wallowy and a steel hard tail would be great there. Well done who ever is looking after it and do I need permit? Don't want to be poaching the track if I'm not supposed to be there and will get one asap if I do.
  9. That ^ and finally some mass produced progressive springs.
  10. They do that quite a lot. When we're cray fishing in Cape Point if the kids and wives are on the beach while we're collecting on the kayaks the come down and pay no attention to them trying to get them away and they just try to get into backs of the double cabs. As soon as a one of us is there they scram.
  11. I just ride right past them. Here around Tokai they just stare and don't really move. Elsewhere on the Garden Route (Harkerville etc) you come across massive troops of them and they make an unholy racket and run off. When I was on a school trip as kid at Cape Point one of the girls in the class was accosted by a baboon who wanted her ice cream. That girl wasn't letting that icey going for anyone and faced off with the hairy thief. That thing went for her and took a chunk out of her upper arm like a spoon through butter with those fangs that bend back. Needless to say. I don't ride with ice creams.
  12. How long do you spend choosing before going for a ride?
  13. Appreciate the advice thanks. That was just what I was looking for. The frame comes with the adjustable head set so I'll see how it all goes in normal high (aka low) setting before doing too much. I'm not someone who really likes options to tinker with. I prefer to get on and ride and not worry about 'what if I'd slacked it out' and 'what if I'd added 2 more clicks of HSC / LSC / HSR / LSR'. I think I keep getting pulled into the longer-slacker rabbit hole when really what you need for most of the trails in CT is a more trail oriented bike. All the websites and reviews everyone is slacking it out, getting into super low H/A numbers but then testing them on trails we can only dream of. Sure you can get the benefits of that but I think for ultra capable, short travel rippers like this, the transition one, Kona Process, Hugene, Ripley I think you loose a lot of what made them so addictive by going too far. Why I'm now at the Following is I sold my Kona Process and got a 150 / 140mm more enduro frame as I thought longer n slacker was better. Yes it was more planted but is was less fun, less maneuverable and, not sure if it was the geo or the suspension, but it was no better on the tougher, rowdier tracks that you can throw it down here in the cape.
  14. Some advice from all you fellow Following evil owners. This relates to a V1 and my general riding in WC @ Tokai, Contermans Cape Cobra, Jonkers etc. 1) Do you run you in the flip chips High or Low mode. How significant is the difference? How are the pedal strikes on low on rocky downs? 2) Angled Headset. What kind of combinations are you running with your Flip Chip settings? I'm planning on running my Following with a 140mm fork so that will slack out the H/A a bit.
  15. More importantly, after an hour of wrestling with a camp chair I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to pop it out like that dude from GOT in the Uber cool gif that was posted earlier. #dayruined #backtobed
  16. Who else wanted to run to the shed, grab the camp chair and nail that move as soon they saw it??
  17. Is this non-argument still going? Nearly 1000 posts though. Impressive.
  18. Brave man. Word is the guy I bought the frame off did the same thing. Once.
  19. Mrs Savage looks like a Mr Savage unless you're the he and he's the she.
  20. Dunno, just bought and ran! I'm not a marriage councillor, I have my own kit and don't like grown men crying near me. He has 4 bikes and now no wife. Personally if was him I'd see the as an opportunity to add another bike into the shed.
  21. Check my knobs and my knobs are good.
  22. Is it bad that I've never even bothered to see if my side nobs are squared off?
  23. Great feedback. I've had a Slaughter before and ran it at 20psi without a worry and also never had issues with braking or hooking up grip once you start to corner. Also rode it all year around and it did drift like a tokyo teenager when hitting wet grass, roots and others but it that was great fun and predictable. Like being a kid again and pulling skids. Grid is the way to go, not for the protection but I liked the support of the side wall which is one of the best I've had. I've very little knowledge on the SS but the last Minion DHF exo I had was surprisingly floppy and ended up running higher pressures than I like. I think I'll give the Slaughter another go. Thank you everyone.
  24. CRC are having some good deals on forks. If you have a 27.5 then you can get a 160mm Mattoc or a 2016 Pike RTC solo for R5000 odd.
