  1. Pretty good way of thinking from them. Look forward to the long term review.
  2. Congratulations, that bike looks dialled. I was wondering what made you go for the MT rather than the Smash (just a big wheels thing?) and how was the buying / shipping / import / duties process like? GGs always get really, really good rider reviews but some times the main magazines can be a bit luke warm on them. I remember seeing the trail pistol get savaging by the Bike Mag 'Bible of Bikes' a couple of years back. I have been interested in getting a smash as every review gives it high fives.
  3. Side wall. That is the key, there are some great profiles out there that are renders useless by the side wall stiffness.
  4. No niner? I was looking forward to what they had done with it this year. Always have a trouble watching Levy in these reviews. He always looks like he's about to steal the bike on test and sell it around the back for bottles of 40oz. So far I'm drooling over that Kona.
  5. Nah, no need for a FOMO in the rear.
  6. Because it's uber cool to get the longest travel, alpine sled available and then boast about your 5mm extra travel when with mates on what amounts to XCO trails.
  7. For the price and the strength they are a steal. I went with these over the Flows and haven't regretted it. As said the free hub does gouge but the is pretty much most any way. American Classic had a great solution to this but no one else ever really bothered to address it. Also the Rapide wheels that Kiwi build are well worth a look. Nothing but good feedback from them as well and equally good service.
  8. Good score!
  9. Maybe they are going to be donating some Rands to breast cancer? Maybe.
  10. Or 4 pot Curas.
  11. Doing his best Aru pain face there. That deal has a good story behind it with promises broken, deals done and commissions paid. I wonder what Sky have offered him as he didn't want to ride on a team with Bernal or in his shadow.
  12. Ebay has a load as does a lot of sellers over seas like Velofuze and Amazon etc. Usually about 15euro.
  13. My black Friday purchase is J-Lo. Well, 2 sessions with him. I decided I really didn't need any more toys, I need to be better so I invested in me. Big thanks for the deal, looking forward to booking myself in and sessioning.
  14. MS should just let him ride, they often can't fill the full roster at Roubaix.
  15. Yeah, and not even a good one. It's a novelty thing and best result is he finishes, not very well and everyone says 'why?'. Worst case is he decides he can't lose face as the reality downs and decides on a few micro doses along the way, gets pings and everyone looks terrible.
  16. Andrea Tafi to Dimension Data for Roubaix?
  17. Holy cow. This thread went west pretty fast.
  18. Is it wrong to like the the berms on supertubes lower? I do enjoy sessioning them and trying to go fast and lean the bike way, way over, trying to rail them as perfectly as possible , working on the Fabian B cornering tips and trying to find out just where the limit of positioning, traction and weighting is. Of course I never try to roost or scrub them or ever try the super ego, video pro wheelie out of berm manoeuvre. I think it can be good training to understand correct cornering, what different approaches do to keeping speed, not braking and trusting your tyres. Kind of mixes it up from the car park corners drills and other small skills repeats. That's me at my level. Other people will find just doing a loop of conties blue a real challenge, progression and achievement and once up skilled may be work towards maybe trying something like tree charge. I was on a trail in Germany recently. Really popular and people come from a good distance to ride there. 16km, total ascent of 18m through the woods and the number of flat, small, really badly built berms one after another after another actually made me get sea sick. Fully Bermed out.
  19. I thought the price of the yearly membership was well above the new R790 price already. Not sure what I have been reading and why I've been paying day rates at HK and Conters (apart from the joy of not having to have a board strapped to my bike and of course I like over aggressive guys asking if I have a permit then looking sullen and annoyed when I produce it). I get the increase is more than before but then look at he price of butter in the last year, it's nearly doubled as has a lot of things. We're getting squeezed more on everything. My bike insurance went up about the same amount as well and a bag of bread, milk & basics at woolies is getting crazy. Obviously people want to (and should) ask questions. It's good to keep people accountable. As for the new price I still think the single member ship is well worth it. Shame that some of the other options have dropped away. I'm not overly bothered about WPlas as I never get out there and if I'm road tripping then it's a day at Jonkers as that is the kind of riding I like. I think for the money you get a great amount for that considering it's private trails and need to be maintained. I really only now ride conties with the odd trip to HK when it's not a weekend or anything below warm as that place is an oven at times. I get that alot of people don't find it tech enough and with TM, Glen, Newlands and Tokai having some great trails I'm more swayed to go there as that is what I want to ride. The fact that you can get a card as a team for under R400 or a standard card for under R600 is just a bonus. I also know that there are a lot of riders the don't want to ride what I want. There are a lot of riders who want to ride the trails that are in the TB networks and the crazy amount of riders at each location there is testament to that. TB seem to be adding extra trails and have added the skills park etc. Obviously it's not at a level for everyone but seems to be popular and helping people up their game. There are a lot of riders there that find parts of the network a challenge and are pushing themselves and there are lot of riders who only find joy on the DH line, the revised line from the mast or seasoning Tree Charge for the right line. There are a huge number of riders, rider types and levels and TB don't a bad job at all to give something for everyone. I get Rob does all the work and the trails at conties but its still in the network and if you ride there a bit chances are that the board is more economic than the day rate. Will I bit the bullet and get a board? Probably, as I guess I ride Conts at least once a week and this year I've been paying cash. Times are harder so doing the maths it makes sense even if I only use 1 or 2 trails in the list. Will I attend the AGM next time? I think so just to try to push a bit more of the natural stuff on to the agenda. Having spent quite a lot of time abroad living and riding in the last 5 years I can tell you a lot of places would die for the trails and opportunities that we have here in CT. There something for everyone and it's only getting stronger. You can see alot of effort goes into the access, building and maintenance on TB. If TB were the only options then I'd be pushing harder for more tokai, TM or jonkers style trails but there are those in place at tokai, TM and jonkers so my decision is simple. If I want to ride some of the trails and enjoy what is on offer and think it's worth it then I'll pony up the money. If I don't think it's got what I want to ride or it's not going to make sense then I won't.
  20. Heading to Rockwood Farm just out side of Citrusdal this weekend & am wondering if there are any recommended routes in the areas that are worth it? Not looking to hammer 60 - 100kms under the blazing sun but more single track / descents. Also happy to leave the bike behind if it's more XC, farm tracks and gravel road orientated but the lady who runs the pace said there were routes at Piekenierskloof but there isn't that much info. A couple of others farms in the are seem to have some trails but can't really see how tech they are as the colour grading seems to be about length rather than difficulty. Any one have experience with riding the area?
  21. Conor Dunne has been picked up by Israel cycling Academy. Feel good story of the day, hope he improves and finds his spot as he is good eneteratinment and is the role model for all wookies out there that want to be a pro racer. Should give ICA a good bit of exposure as the press do cover him a fair bit for sure an average dom'
  22. Nothing dodgy about getting more toys for your available Randellas. You can get some insane discounts on BF that will save you a lot to spend on more toys / the wife / the girlfriend the rest of the year.
  23. Make sure to write up a review. Can't be many in SA, if any.
  24. Coil as well. Very nice. You must be itching to build that up. What's the first trail going to be? Been hoping they do a Black Friday discount as I'd love to order a raw Smash.
  25. Did you get the Smash? Where did you get if from and how much did it workout at? Very jealous.
