  1. Just like porn, the reality is slightly different. http://cdn.media.cyclingnews.com/2019/01/13/1/bettiniphoto_0369367_1_originali_670_670.jpg
  2. Truthfully I was underwhelmed by that new kit. Rapha have the ability, resource and knowledge to carve something slightly better. Is you look at the Canyon SRAM kit that was a pretty unique move while this feels like the reasons it is what is is bigger the actual finished product. All the 'disrupter' talk would have gone down singing hymns in the boardroom presentation but in reality it's a pink kit that someone spilt some blue on that doesn't match the colour of the shorts. You look about at the plethora of smaller kit makers that have great designs that are not to 'out there' that you could integrate the key sponsors requirements into and you have to think that Rapha have become a bit to corporate and a bit too bloated.
  3. I think there has been some issues with both sides (local and international) and heard the relationships hasn't been on best terms. YT wanted all stock sold before new stock arrived and other bits. Not sure if Black Sheep know more as they seem to stock a lot of YT.
  4. This looks pretty awesome... I'm willing to roll the dice with the crappy local service if it's going to be a stellar bike.
  5. I've used Aramex a lot and they are good. Sure you pay the full price and then get duties / Vat on top depending on what you order but to be honest on a lot of stuff you still come out winning when comparing to local prices. Update on my package is it's due for delivery tomorrow after paying on the 8th. Seems like I've had a pretty smooth ride compared to most and event though it's been a bit longer than Aramex but it's not been too bad at all for me. Last time I got big package with DHL or who ever CRC used before they mistakenly put the wrong info on and I ended up having to pay duties, VAT, R200 handling from them and customs fee so there are ups and downs. TBH looking about at the experiences here CRC need to take action because they are going to see a massive drop off in customers from outside the EU from simply partnering with a bad company.
  6. I used the numbers I posted in earlier in the thread. Rang one and got through pretty quick on the first go and then rand the airport one and got through again, got put on hold for a couple of minutes and then package sorted. I think the airport one is the one to go for.
  7. That makes sense I hadn't thought about that. I rode a friends one with a 140 fork on it and Jonkers. It was such a capable bike on all the trails and so fun in the high setting not sure slacking it out would give you much plus points. Sure it being a 29er helps on a 120mm rear end but that's the point, it's about the whole. Hell of a bike, you must be pretty happy.
  8. I thought the Following was a 67.4 in high and 66.8 in low? Either way I think there is too much attention paid to the HA and the SA numbers alone. It's all you hear talk of. The 'old' numbers of the Following V1 were good enough to make them come out with the MB and keep it virtually the same. I'd say the area of 66.5 is probably the perfect alrounder but it is about how the package works as a whole. Having said that the best bikes I've ridden and enjoyed the most for the trails here in SA are slightly more than that. Last 65 angle bike I rode was so hard to get any fun out of and that was touted as a quiver killer in the review. Which was done in Squamish. Which is no where near what we ride here.
  9. I was under the impression WT were for the over 30mm rims and standard 2.4s etc were the go to on 30mm ID. Alot of people seem to have had issues with Ibex but I've always liked them. They do get to a point where they look fine but will then start putting you on your arse and you think you're just riding *** but it's time to replace them. I liked the grip and the rolling resistance alot. I have to say I really like a 2.6 Slaughter on 30mm rims out back in Grid casing (really want a black Diamond casing there) and from the few rides on the 2.6 Eliminator on the front (also Grid) it's really nice. Mid pack in terms of rolling resistance and could go faster but it's not a light tyre tbh.
  10. Got my invoice yesterday after I spoke to them, paid it and the shipment is on it's way. So if it's delivered tomorrow it'll have been 17 days from purchase with Xmas and NY thrown in. Was also the free shipping option from CRC when I purchased so I actually expected Royal Mail / SAPO and at least a month. Had a fork brought by the old courier CRC used take 2 weeks. Aramex usually takes 8 days odd. With this though I wonder how long it would have sat at the airport before they contacted me and conversely I wonder how quickly I could have got it had I followed up quicker.
  11. For sure: JHB Offices: +27 11 586 1000 CT: +27 21 590 3200 Airport Office: +27 11 571 1905 (Speak to Delize)
  12. So, called Skynet in the UK who were shocked I hadn't been contacted when it arrived on the 24th. They passed me to the Wiggle Department in Skynet that were equally shocked that I hadn't been given the customs bill already. Got given 2 SA numbers to ring (one JHB and one CT) 'because the JHB people may not answer'. Rang the JHB number and had a very helpful day who passed on the number for a lady called Delize at their airport branch. Called that and after a while on hold got told by Delize that it was there and if I gave her my ID number then she would send an invoice today and put it in for clearance. Seems promising. Seems also that I should have rung earlier and the label on the tracking 'in customs awaiting clearance' wasn't exactly correct! All good though, just hoping that the invoice comes out today and we can get trucking.
  13. Well at least I know there isn't much to do about it. Thanks for the info.
  14. Bought a groupset on the 20th of December, it got shipped with Skynet, arrived in Jozi on the 24th. Been sitting in customs ever since. Anything I need to do to get it out or will it arrive at some time with a bill for any duties?
  15. When will you be releasing the stages / profiles? Very interested in this but want to see what we're in for.
  16. Just got me a 2.6 Spez' Slaughter and a 2.6 Spez' Eliminator combo and they are awesome. Slaughter in the bigger profile is just more better'r and the 2.6 Eliminator is really very good. Way better than the Butcher. Not the old bargain prices that Specialized tyres used to be but still on par with most other offerings.

  18. Post your thoughts, musings and photos of your holy rail in action on your bike.
  19. I'd love to ride the 'Machine'. You know despite the designer saying don't buy the Stamina unless you are planning on it being a pure enduro race bike for anything other than steepest gnar you can find as you'll be sorely disappointed there will be people will be 'oh yeah that will be an awesome bike for Hoogies / the spruit / Tokai'.
  20. Oh you didn't! Well considering Perth is closer fo Jakata than any city back home i think bagus, bagus, bagus should be the call!
