  1. Oh yeah, he won in Valenciana. Good work Eddy. Heard a podcast the other day where a couple of former pro's were saying they were really suprised that team sky had tried to fashion him into a classics man for the cobbles as he didn't like the cobbles and wasn't actually very good at it. TBH I thought he was always pretty up there until the final selections happened (or he cartwheeled across another nameless french / flandrian field).
  2. Holy thread revival but the sentiment remains the same. Has TDD won anything so far this season? Ol' Valgren seems to be suffering the same 'blue curse' of a results drought as many riders do once the they leave Astana and the arch overlord Vino. Meanwhile Omar Faile seems to be going the other way. Not getting that many results in TDD and racking up a few once he donned the pale blue.
  3. Who is in form but has been hiding it bit? Outside bet is Jonny D. He's looked good but had bad luck in a couple of races and knows how to win it but his team is nowhere at all. Naesen would have been up there but his illness will have knocked off that extra bit of shine you need for Roubaix. Sagan has been around even though losing 4kgs through early season illness and skills / positioning can trump alot on the cobbles. Van Aert? MDVP? Going in as their first time in the hell of the north might be a bit of a stretch but remember when Stybar debuted and was looking the goods until the spectator incident in the last few kms. Stybar is big fav for me. 2 x 2nd in '15 and '17. In '15 he won early with Strade and came in 2nd and this year he's won early again and looked strong all through the campaign so far (Flanders aside). But the bookies have a different idea!
  4. And we're back!
  5. Van Baarle is a strange one. he's was 6th in 2016 and 4th in 2017 at Flanders, had a shocker last year and came good-ish again yesterday. You never know with Sky, they have a different philosophy with riders and targets (preferring to give the rider everything thy need in terms of training, equipment to get to a physical level etc and to be the best rider he can be at that event rather than galvanising a team in a specific way for a cohesive goal). Even so looking at the team on the day and how Rowe has been going recently you'd expect more of their numbers near the end and more team work overall. Maybe they really can't improvise as a team and react like the classics need.
  6. I'd like to ride the Propain Hugene. That looks like a good all around trail bike that can do a bit of everything. Other than that the Ibis Ripley LS would be top of my list.
  7. I know it's been linked to before but I'm interested to see what price they'll be dropping these at. We are in Spring '19 after all and that is what they said they'd be releasing them.
  8. Kidding... I wouldn't last 5 minutes in one of those classes. This year I've been looking at core, flexibility and dropping weight. I'm pretty keen to sign up to that online system to complement the other stuff, seems to be pretty good value.
  9. Chris Nixon at the Uitsig Bike Park had one for a while. Chat to him and he'll happily say that it was just too much bike for the CT / WC trails.
  10. You going to post a video review?
  11. hopefully you'll get the package soon. I remember paying DHL that 'service fee' as well and being pretty annoyed about that as isn't that what you're paying courier fee for? If you also send stuff in via SAPO you also pay a handling fee I think when you pay any customs charges as well.
  12. Hold on, was she cleared of her doping ban or are we cheering sanctioned dopers now. Sometime I find it hard to see which way the wind blows on here with certain subjects. Flame an OP for raising dangerous riding practices, cheer on dopers.
  13. Death Grip are good and nice that they keep making with a BMX style flange. What versions did you get? I recently got the thick / soft version and they are extremely plush.
  14. Yet the numbers / reviews are saying it's not really playing properly in that category. I agree that they seem to have missed the boat on what they could have done or how they could have pushed it. Surely a company like Canyon would hardly have let that one just 'get missed' along the development route. Maybe they were looking for something aimed at the everyman rather than a few hundred guys going #fullenduro. They obviously have some plan as the HA is 66 and SA is 74.5 on their other recent release, the Spectral but of course that's a trail bike and 650b. I was surprised they didn't grow the chainstays a bit on the bigger sizes. Edit: Canyon did say PinkBike were actually on the wrong size. So fit seems to be a key thing.
  15. there is a whole thread on that somewhere here. Best way around it is to have the location as UK, add anything shimano or sram to your withlist, swap location to SA (removes the VAT), move from wishlist to basket and checkout. Wait, track, call Skynet, play nice, pay, get your gear. Or set up an Aramex Global Shopper account and ship it that way.
  16. Europe does get a good amount of stock. You'll also find ex factory frames on PB in the classifieds from Europe as they are a Germany based brand. Yanks complain endlessly about the customer service from YT over there as well but it's swings and round about as when I was living in Europe I couldn't get decent service from the US brands.
  17. If you look in the dictionary under 'burley' it might just have that shot. That looks like the Kim K ass of the tyre world.
  18. Wasn't going to to say that but I've done that a few times and not bothered with the bag on the way out.
  19. Truthfully it seems better to head to the UK and purchase a new one there with the difference between locally price and Europe price you'd cover the cost of the flight and have some change to spare to take it for a quick spin in the alps. Jeffsy 29 CF Pro UK: £3,499.00 / R62,189.52 SA: R77,900 Flight to UK R10K or less. Easy Jet to France: £52 return Hire Car: £12 per day Throw in cheese, wine, air B&B accom' and you can still come under the price for the same model here. Then claim VAT @ 20% back at the airport when flying home.
  20. Clear as mud then. Shameas I'm pretty interested in the New Jeffsy 150mm.
