  1. only a 6 month ban
  2. The last Insta post from the mothers was pure gold, Loved the banter and made the rivalry all the worth while more interesting to follow. I hope their rivals step up their Insta Banter game for next year. Was it the uncles that only recently figured out how to post to Insta
  3. cant see what the issue is for a shorter route. Im guessing hubbers are not the target market for this and as mentioned by others, most other events have short route options. Having a shorter option has no impact on you doing the full 109km so i dont understand the negativity behind it. As far as I am concerned nothings changed that actually affects me and my race on the 109km route
  4. This was an interesting read and reaffirmed my decision not to enter. The marketing of this event came across as a 2day social group ride and not a stage race. Which is fine as long as organizers clarify that its not a "race"
  5. Much better event organization than that other 100miler race. Sorry to throw shade. Marshals and policing were on point today. Well done PPA. Funride groups worked well together to get over this 170km (my personal experience). This is now my favourite road event.
  6. Didnt wana say it but Booland 100miler felt like the most unsafe race i ever did. Dont this road users were even aware that there was an event on. It felt like we just a bunch of riders getting together and deciding to ride 150km on public roads
  7. Thats the problem, i didnt even know about this race until after i saw people post it on Strava. I would like to think i am clued up with some of the racing happening but I can tell you most casual roadies in the Cape only know about CTCT, DC and maybe Durbie Dash or the old Stellenbosch Cycle tour. Marketing is a problem. WP cycling events are the worse offenders when it comes to marketing their events. Which also leads to this elitist mind set that "only those who know need to know". Like its some sort of elite underground club
  8. my suggestion would be split the Cape into 4 or 5 days Day 1: Do Tokai and Silvermine (Noordhoek peaks - proper epic views) and then come down the single tracks like Donkey and the Snakes. If that is too easy then Mast is a sufferfest but the beautiful scenery its worth it. You can then take Bridal path and finish off with Vasbyt on your way down. Day 2: Around Table Mountain, string together Constantia nek to Newlands, Table Mountain, Camps Bay, 12 apostles trail and then into Hout Bay and come back up to the Nek. you can chuck in a few single track sections on Table Mountain, Lions Head and The Glen if you feeling for something more spicey. Once again this will really show off our City's beauty. Day 3: Jonkershoek - just that. Ride everything you can and bring your climbing legs Day 4: String together Plasir, Boschendal and Banhoek Conservancy. Among the best trails we have. Day 5: Here i would decide either Helderberg, Wellington (Wild Boar trails), or Paarl trails. Alternatively if you can ride Elgin Grabouw that would be a win too. Hope you guys have a blast whatever you decide
  9. When you say Bike Parks you mean like the just going up and coming back down and doing repeats (but on different downs) or would you be open to "adventure rides" where its longer session and enjoying both the ups and downs with beautiful scenery.
  10. Where are the water points for the 60km MTB race? I couldnt find anything on their website
  11. if i was in the Market for a xc/dc alloy HT the Team Marin frame option would be a sure winner
  12. Nothing against ebikes but pretty sure whenever a sports celeb is punting any bike they pretty much told to do so by their sponsors. Not much you can take from that. Hardly independent choice
  13. mmmm... topic is becoming "does Lycra belong on the mountain" 🤔 Dont know what the fuss is. Lycra is comfortable and not all of us have "boeps". Wear what you want. Just be decent.
  14. comfort and back pockets?
  15. Hi and welcome If you not planning on any trails and purely just doing road riding but want something thats "more than just restricted to smooth tarmac road" then consider a rigid commuter/gravel bike (flat or drop bar). No suspension fork to service or maintain. With the right tires that's set up tubeless and you can still do dirt/gravel or B roads without worrying about punctures dont know what your budget is but have a look at Rook Cycles the Scout model or the Hubs wide range of poducts https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/c/gravel-and-cyclocross-bikes Im not going to tell you to buy gear because you sound like you would be comfortable in flip flops, flat pedals and a vest but please just get a decent helmet. if later you decide you want to ride longer and further then start investing in kit and upgrades to the bike. Good luck and enjoy

    Vuelta 2022

Something ive noticed in stage racing when it comes to classifying climbs. While climb difficulty does play a role in the classification. How much KOM points the organizers want to dish out also plays a role in deciding how to classify a climb. Ive seen climbs get degraded or like in this case, elevated just so that the KOM points race can be heated up.
  17. I am indifferent to Quintana and rules are rules but why are pain meds banned during a race. And here Ive seen some local dudes pop pain meds at local races
  18. maybe your heart rate is dropping because you just super fit. The efforts are just getting too easy...ever thought about that possibility
  19. If Roglic is moving i see him more as a replacement for G Thomas. Someone who can both TT and climb. Primoz is also very strong as a classics rider. Dual leadership with Egan at the TDF? Will Egan ever show us that 2019 TDF form again....
  20. Hard to see Roglic losing so much time... Was really hoping he would take this one. As much as i like Pogacar, i was hoping for a tight race. Maybe Ineos or Vingegaard can still challenge him
  21. So does this mean Roglic is gonna go for another Vuelta......
  22. I respect if you have a line drawn about who you would work for and who you wont. I too have a line that I will not cross (and yes IPT would be a hard no). I have refused to even consider working for specific sectors in the economy or certain companies that benefit very specific nations (not just Israel). But it would be naïve to think our money is "clean". Some how in some way that same nation or company you refuse to business with is still some way involved in your life. China is another nation that i put on my "No" list but yet most things we need just to function in todays world is sourced from China. As much as I agree that UAE as a nation has its own Human rights violations, there are nations that are and have done way worse. UAE Team Emirate as a cycling team has also made steps to become more progressive...more progressive than perhaps another famous Belgium team (*cough Quickstep) I guess its where you draw the line. Wherever you draw it, you just got to make peace with it and accept it may not be perfect and not everyone will agree with it.
  23. Depending on your vantage point of the world, the environment and culture you grew up in or live in and the media you consume you can pretty much demonize any nation or corporate @justinafrika while you have the right and freedom to demonize UAE, i too have the right to demonize IsraelPremierTech because of their associated Nation's human rights violations......
  24. I think the 105 Di2 is great for those wanting electronic shifting at a more " relative cheaper" price. But I am wondering if this is end for any further R&D into mid to high tier mechanical groupsets (except for Campy). If 11 speed mechanical is discontinued, anyone wanting something more than Tiagra might not be able to afford that big jump to 105 Di2. This may be premature but on the face of it, this does seem like Shimano (and Sram) are basically not interested in the large middle market. May seem frustrating now , but if this causes a gap in the market then I am sure someone else will see the opportunity and fill it.....
  25. when was the last time a S-Works won a Grand Tour🤔. Chapeua to Jai & Bora Bora looks like something else since Sagan left.
