  1. My grandpa gave me the advise that I should always read the manual, you do not have to follow it all the time, but be sure to at least read it.
  2. If you are taking applications for closed beta, please sign me up as well. Getting rid of this stupid tan line on my wrist would be perfect.
  3. O yeah forgot it is silly season for them currently, will then have a nice surprise on Wednesday worst case. Edit: Nevermind, just got the sms. EL for my date with Tom Jenkins,
  4. Any idea when the seeding will be out? Think number collection starts this Wednesday?
  5. This part specifically would help a ton. I do not want alerts for all the MTB adds, but a certain size and price range etc. Perfect.
  6. Awesome thanks, that is exactly what I was trying to do. Great tool by the way,
  7. Hi David, So I forgot my Wahoo at home for a ride and had to record it using my phone and Garmin. My Garmin does not have power data and my phone did not record the entire ride. So what I did was to set the phone recording to private on Strava, both came through to your site as expected. I then set the "load" to 0 on the ride with the power. Will this then correctly use the Garmin HR data only for the fitness graph? Only using the partial ride with power for reference, eg max efforts etc?
  8. I still want revenge on Tom Jenkins after I had to walk it last year, was considering doing the short one just for the climb, guess I will have to do the long one now.
  9. Check this page while logged into the profile you need points on. It will list everything you have already done and what can still be done. https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/track-and-earn-points
  10. The only thing you will get is more discount with Healthy Gear, but if you are planning to use that, it might be better to do the test at the start of the year.
  11. Awesome thanks, just checking out all the details before making a decision. Difficult to get the information without already having the products. Will do some math to see if this is worth it,
  12. Does anyone have some information on what the vitality money goals are and how they work/scale. Like the health one is up to 900 points, with the HR table for points? I can not see any specifics on their site, Just something about having better spending habits
  13. Awesome, thanks all. I will check see when I can do a proper test and take it from there. At least the estimate gives me a starting point to aim for in the test. The problem I was having with the estimated one is that after every hard ride it would bump my FTP by a bit. The last ride got me up 25 Watts, so now seems as good time as any for the last bit of training till 947.
  14. A question for the people who have done a FTP test vs the estimation given by this tool. Do the values differ significantly or is the estimation close enough if you are not looking into going pro anytime soon? Also is there anything that I can do on a ride to make sure the estimation is as accurate as possible or should I just HTFU and get through a ramp or 20 min FTP test to get an accurate number? Just started out with this training with power thing, so trying to use HUB wisdom instead of trail and error,
  15. I completely agree that drugs should not be allowed on any level as it is both dangerous to the user and set a precedent that you have to take something to compete. I was not aware of the rules but now that I have the information I am happy that I am within the rules. I do qualify for a TUE as per their regulations and if I ever decide to compete at a higher level I will get it before the races as required. But for now cycling is just to clear my head and get a bit more healthy. But if I should be required to know all this to sprint for 4725th place at 947 this year is another matter entirely?
  16. Thanks for the info, just went down a rabbit hole a bit and got the following info. If I plan to enter the elite category in a national level event or one of the following (Cape Epic, Joberg2C, Sani2C, Cape Pioneer, Trailseeker and National Mountain Bike series ) I need a TUE in advance. But since I am neither of those, I can continue to compete and get one if I ever get flagged. 17. Thanks, will keep that in mind, maybe even check with the organizers before entering anything that big. But for now I am nowhere near the sharp end, so will try my luck.
  18. I saw the person on there caught for doping in bowls, had a quick laugh, then googled the things they were busted for. Turns out I am on one of those . Should I be worried doing my races (funrides) ?
  19. So I did manage to go from endurance back to normal with a quick phone call. But Apparently I am not allowed to change back for 12 months. So if you do long training anyway and want to quickly boost to gold it is a nice option. Just one snag is that the website is showing my goal as 900, but the app is still on 1200. I have contacted them, but in the meantime it is luckily not that hard to hit that anyway for now.
  20. Yup accidentally signed myself up for this, so 1200 points per week till the end of the year. But luckily Saturday group rides give me 600 easily (180 mins @ 60%). then two 30 min 80% sessions (intervals etc) sort me out most weeks.
  21. Looks like only the bundle qualifies for the 520. So assuming the same will be true for 530 https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/products/discovery-device-booster-all-qualifying-products#filters|sort_most-recent|brand_693,1,36
  22. My bike gave in on lap 7, was a long walk back to the start. But what a nice concept, want to have another go at it next time. After that I am really looking into getting a decent bike. My 26" with v-brakes felt a bit out of place there,
  23. I was almost thinking of bringing a gravel bike after hearing the description. But my trusty HT will be taking me around. I did not read anything about switching bikes, so might be worth it to bring both and change later when your ass is done?
  24. Yeah it takes 90 days to build up to 9%, and then anytime after that if you withdraw after giving 10 days notice all your interest is boosted. Limit of R100K deposits though.
