  1. This is why this event rocks! Normal people doingAMAZING THINGS, I was there managed 15 laps and I remember that Hub Jersey, quietly getting on with the job at hand, no posing, no fanfare, slow and steady ! NICE POST, WELL DONE
  2. There's nothing new here, could apply to any shop. it's not great but we all f..... Up from time to time. establish a relationship with a shop, and this takes time, believe me it does. Buy you mechanic a few beers over Christmas, spend some time and money in the shop, and then they will bend over backwards. Most of all discuss your problems face to face, you did this, I'm not happy can we reach a compromise. Bike shops often want to solve problems, that cost money with small margins... Tough job. And no, I don't own a bike shop, but have a good relationship with my local bike shop and the mechanic, and It works.... But it takes time
  3. Great bike, good shock, XT is solid... The way GT used to make bikes, a classic. Plus loads of street cred!!
  4. Shocks fine, BB done 17 months still fine, key is regular servicing and keep it clean. I reckon the weak spot is the DT Swiss rear shock, but pivots don't seize by themselves... The get dirty, they get dry, they creak, and squeak and we keep ignoring them, and then something breaks... And it's a crap bike ? That doesn't make sense ?
  5. Sun May 4, 2014 1:52 am (PDT) . Posted by: "Kenilworth News" Early this morning a motorised bicycle (Avalanche 'Range') was found dumped in the front garden of a house in Belsay Rd (off Bathurst). If you know who it belongs to please contact Gabriele Feiter on 021 797 6158 or 078 224 6945.

  16. MMM, so what does this mean? That 29 are really cool and totally acceptable in a community that allows freedom of expression and the choice to ride what you like and how you like it.... Or is this picture meaning something else, does it mean that Gay is not cool ? Why is Gay not cool, and why is the bike gay.. is it really happy because it's flying though the air while some chop in fake Tomy Hilfiger holds up a board... or is it cool, I'm confused, or maybe the man holding the sign and the 'person' who posted this could be homophobic or think it's funny to make fun of gay people, which is not cool at all... or maybe he thinks it's funny to make fun of 29'er people, which is fine... cause he has a few inches less. But hey, maybe he thinks gay is cool, and hip, and a great state of mind, like a 29'er which is good, or is it, or am i confused, wait maybe that makes me gay, cause I'm happy, and i ride a 29'er, but wait I'm married, with 2 kids, so maybe I'm just happy gay cause i ride a 29'er... whick means the man in the picture and the person who posted this thinks gay people are really cool cause they ride 29'ers, which gives me new hope for the world !!
  17. The Headaches are caffiene withdrawels. I've experienced the same, with or without meat. Switch to 'cleaner' burning coffee like strong espresso. Filter, instant and plunger has a very high caffiene content. Meat probably isn't the issue.. but I'm no doctor !
  18. At last, everyone knew this 26" thing was just a fad, I mean it's like been 30 years of this nonsense. Does this mean 650 is the new 26", AWESOME NEWS!! now the 29" riders can all make fun of the 650 riders... payback time !!
  19. read a fred, a fred? - It's a thread bru! or is dat fru ? or are my tyres fred worned, or tread forned, or must all us other hubbers who don't read the hole fred fear to step wear angels fred, ted ?
  20. I'm not going to badmouth CWC, except to say that I've also tried all the 'cheaper' options, CWC, Chain Reaction etc. The 10 to 15 % saving is NEVER worth it when you have a warranty claim with any of these guys, plus there's all the stress of waiting, fighting, moaning [when I'd rather be riding my bike!!]. My formula [and this might not work for everyone] is to check the price on CWC etc, go to my local bike shop and make sure they are within a resonable margin. I only use Crown Cycles [again this might not work for everyone] and they are almost always same price or within 10 to 15% of CWC and they will replace, fix, sort out anything. Why ? Probably because I support them as a shop, I service with them, I buy kit, and build a relationship. Your corner butchery is never going to compete with Pick 'n Pays but the service is always better !!
  21. ITS FROM BOTTOM TO TOP IN THIS ORDER.... SHIMANO ACERA SHIMANO ALVILIO SHIMANO DEORE SHIMANO DEORE SLX SHIMANO DEORE XT SHIMANO DEORE XTR
  22. MAYBE TRUE MAYBE NOT, BUT WHEN LAST DID A PERSON ON A BIKE KILL OR SERIOUSLY INJURE SOMEONE IN A CAR !! READ THE ARTICLE, AND TO PARAPHRASE IN HUB LANGUAGE "CHOP!'
  23. My Opinion, IGNORE IT. As they say in Texas, there are always more horses arses that horses!! Critical Mass is the most awesome event, it attracts the most awesome people, and then now and again some 'nice guy' thinks he can use it for a political platform. Yes we all have cool and expensive bikes, yes we all have white skins, yes we ride our bikes, if you don't like that THEN DON'T COME AGAIN! On the expensive bike front, this guy must really have his head right up his..... Everyone I ride with has a very very very expensive bike, and that's probably why we all drive very very very cheap and crap cars!! BECAUSE WE LIKE RIDING, and what the hell has riding a bike got to do with slavery, politics, family history. If you want something, work for it, don't blame me or anyone else you refer to as a 'whitey' and please never call me a 'whitey' to my face, cause black, white, green or purple... you will get a snotklap, it's offensive!! Call me bru, china , chommie, even poephol.. but not Whitey, Please move on!! I'd better stop now before I blow a vein....
  24. I ride a cheap singlespeed [sub R20k] and will spend about R4000 a year all in to keep it sweet, so R13 800 seems a bit steep...
  25. Don't do it. I smoked for 25 years, cycled for 10 of those. I stopped and I feel so much better. Ignore all the bullsh*t about really wanting to stop. Everyone wants to stop, but it's like flipping heroin, it just keeps coming back at you. I stopped and started 4 times, and have been smoker free for 12 months. I will never smoke again, and I will never put myself though the withdrawal symptoms again. On my last success I use Champix & Nicorette combo, and lots of hard cycling. Today I feel awesome, and riding a bike is so much easier !!! JUST ****** DO IT !!!
