  1. Age Groupers ride together like friends whereas Elite and Vets race each other constantly trying to burn each other out. A's would be your best bet considering you don't get dropped by the main group.
  2. YEAR | # SUB 3 FINISHERS | GROUP THAT MADE IT | SEEDING INDEX 2005 | 240 | Group A | 14.6% 2006 | 800 | Group F | 16.8% 2007 | 1,300 | Group G | 18.4% 2008 | 1,700 | Group I | 22.4% 2009 | 150 | Only Elites | 10.8% 2010 | 130 | Only Elites | 12.5% 2011 | 1,000 | Group F | 18.4% 2012 | 570 | Group C | 15.3% 2013 | 450 | Group B | 12.5% I imagine weather plays the greatest role on the day. This year the weather was pretty good and only 450 made it. 2007/8 must have been proper tail winds. Average seeding required of 15.7% for Argus, of which would have been a time of 2hr 30min for 94.7 last year.
  3. or stream it live at work: http://www.cyclingfa...mpionships/live
  4. Road Worlds: Elite Men's TT today! First rider off at 13:15 (LIVE on SS6) All the best to Jay Thomson and Reinardt v Rensburg representing SA! Click here for the full schedule --> http://bit.ly/14yWuzV
  5. My first race with the Vets, VB... and not exactly in race condition! Holy *&^%!! In 2nd gear until the 47km and then all hell broke loose! Got spat out after the third surge and limped home with 2 other guys in that forsaken wind!! Did 3:07 surprisingly because it felt like we were going backwards in that wind!
  6. How do they seed late entries? A colleague said they start you at the back, surely not?
  7. Janse van Rensburg finished 14sec off the win in 21 st position! Flipping awesome for that grueling climb to the finish!! Love that he's going for it!!
  8. That road race was hairy to say the least! I think A group was particularly big and fast - I would have been happier if the group that broke away up the hill stayed ahead but alas the entire group came together again. Fortunately no incidents in our group. Bloody speed bumps! We must have hit some of them at 40km/h... try bunny hopping in a tight bunch! Plenty of roadkill to savour and the odd veld fire. Idiot driver overtook us on the gravel on the left... idiot cyclists riding into oncoming traffic a number of times. Nonetheless the sprint was for the taking! Damn, I always go too early! Enjoyable race! Even better weekend at Vacation Club!
  9. 200m of climbing in 40km... doubt we'll even notice it
  10. Looks fast!! My kinda race!
  11. Found it: http://www.cansalostcity.co.za/images/2011_Powerade_115_profile.jpg
  12. My first time... think I'm starting A. What's the profile like?
  13. If you buy it as spec'd by Cannondale, R 150,000
  14. I agree the frame is very classic in its shape, but it's so minimal... Just business!! All matte black! Flipping awesome looking bike!!
  15. Anyone recommend matte black components with black decals? Black on black baby!!
  16. I'm looking for a matte black seat post and stem with black decals. Similar to the Enve components on the Cannondale Black Inc. ...or just buy a black marker pen? ;p) Anyone seen anything similar without a ridiculous price tag?
  17. We live in the Wild West. Laws aren't upheld even by our police... The Netherlands is like a common-sense Utopia compared to SA. You have trams, bicycles, pedestrians, taxis and cars all sharing the same urban roads - it can be quite daunting walking the streets in Amsterdam. If we tried that here it would be absolute carnage.
  18. I'm on a compact! Makes perfect sense for heavier riders 90kg+ I'm sure there are a couple buffels out there who aren't scared to grind a standard crank up the hills but a compact with a good cadence makes it so much easier. I don't feel like I'm losing out on the other end either, 50-11 at 60km/h is just fine on the flat fast races.
  19. The Black is spec'd with Enve tubbies which are ridiculously priced so not taking those... on Zipp 101s and Easton EC90SLs... so all good there
  20. I'm looking at upgrading my Tarmac SL3 S-Works for a Cannondale SuperSix Evo Black Inc Having read a few reviews, which all praise the Evo Black, a couple of the heavier riders have mentioned that the super light bike is a little scary on the descents. I'm 90kg... My question is will I break the frame and die a horrible death on a descent?
  21. Looking at my Strava story for Suikerbos... That first climb is 3.7km, 240m gain (6%, 18% in some places) The last climb is 4.8km, 250m gain (5%, 15% in some places) But the climbing starts a lot sooner on the last climb... 11km at 3%
