  1. Admin, read the Hub logo - it says the center of "Cycling" in SA. I am not against cycling related chit-chat no matter how distantly related to cycling or the cyclists, but we should maybe check what the "fall out" of new hubbers is as a result of the nonsense that gets posted. I certainly have noticed a degeneration since I joined and this was only March 2007. Maybe it's just me, but I find there seems to be less cycling related and more stirring related (and that's putting it mildly). I certainly will not hang around for more than another month if the current trend of more trash than information or sense prevails. We also need to look at what the Hub is advertised as on other websites and whether it is fulfilling that role. Just look at the way many new hubbers join briefly and stirr and insult etc from the word go. How & where did they hear that this was acceptable at any stage. Many say that we cannot censor etc and quote free speech etc etc. For heavens sake this is not a model of democracy and utopia - it's just the flippin hub! Terminate rule violaters (I mean remove from the Hub of course) after a "pm" warning or two. Anyway just my 2c! Oh and a new rule suggestion - you can only stirr with Big H after you have been here one month.racman2007-05-29 08:54:29
  2. Wow Big H, don't tell me you have got one of those special prototype ShimaNO bicycles where both the rear triangle AND the wheel rotate!!! Pics please !!!
  3. Butafly, what makes you think I have friends, let alone "expat" friends!!
  4. Mud Dee, I was advised in a reply to an earlier post about certain build kits available to dealers in CT. These included everything but the frame. I thought I would call the distributor first just to enquire and get an update on what is currently available. Before I knew it I was quoted all the kit prices. Of course the one I was interested in involved the top of the range groupset, Ksyrium SL's etc. etc. This sounded great and seemed like a good special until I asked if this was the price available to the public. It was then that I was informed that I would probably pay close to the whole kit price (about R3k less) just for the wheels at the LBS. The kit would now be about double the price quoted. I did not expect the distributor to sell direct to me, but this is ridiculous. So essentially a R15k kit will now cost me R30k from my LBS. I will check the individual prices tonight at Total Cycling & CRC and see what that comes to. Wat grinds me is that this is a "SPECIAL" - my question is a special WHAT!!!
  5. I always knew online purchasing was cheaper but not by so much! I have just phoned a supplier to get prices of build packages and unfortunatley was initially given the dealer price first before they realised that it was a private enquiry. I was then given the dealer reccommended price - double the price !!!! What a rip-off. It almost pays me to buy a complete new bike just to get the extra value and then use the components to build up my bike!!! SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE !!!! How can they expect us to support the LBS scene like this?
  6. Brandon, why still advertise the RC Team road bike if it hasn't been available for months now? Any ideas on 2008 model timing, pricing & pics? racman2007-05-22 01:37:58
  7. Which bike are they talking about - I want to buy it , 'cause it sure feels like I am doing most of the work when I ride my bike!!!
  8. I saw a few "Demo" bikes at Maverick's -Somerset West this weekend. Looks like they have an a Giant and Merida shop demo bike as well(don't know model though.
  9. There is a positive side to this - at least we are getting new members to the Hub!
  10. maybe, but I still need to find a book on "Hot Tips on writing a book" first!
  11. Thx slowjoe, never got around to mention: 1)Hot Tip#2 - make sure the pedals are attached to your bike before following any of the aforementioned steps. (I will amend this and credit you for the tip in my new book - The Essential Cycling Guide - Hot Tips that really work!)
  12. Cervelo, I have to disagree. The "ALL Blacks" also have white players!! Also, please clarify "non-white", because most of us "whites" spend half of our holidays and money trying to get more "non-white", albeit in different shades of tan.
  13. Didn't the local newspaper accept your editorial submission? racman2007-05-18 07:49:45

  21. OK, here is the review on the Cadence INCREASE supplements. 2) technical specs have not been forthcoming from the manufacturer despite numerous requests. (Rumors suggest that these specs will only be released AFTER the Landis & Puerto investigations are completed.) The Cadence Increase course consists of a Shake and tablets. Although the tablet is pink in color and looks remarkably similar to a commonly used recreational drug, the manufacturer has again assured users that the product is legal but refuses to supply technical specifications. The shake is quite tasteless with a slight "Red Bull" flavour. A noticeable but unusual increase in both energy and euphoria is experienced after taking the supplements. Strict adherence to the recommended dosage is said to increase energy and cadence, particularly when cycling downhill using 39/25 gearing. The recommended dosage is identical to the Cadence Decrease supplements listed above. Each supplement pack again provides excellent value for money with discount coupons for the purchase of Adcock Ingram's new "Fade Away" product - a medicinal cream (normal only available on prescription) that is specifically intended for the treatment of extreme acne! An additional voucher is supplied entitling all users of the supplement, a 50% discount on the purchase of Dr.Hylee Strung's book entitled "Coping with aggressive behavior - my battle with steriods". As a whole, I found the suplements highly effective in: a) increasing energy levels (erratic twitching of numerous muscle groups was however experienced during the course) & b) Increasing cadence (particularly with the downhill reccommended gear settings) As an added benefit, I found that most of the friends and familly that used to irritate me to no end, no longer visit. I sure that my erratic muscle twitch, extreme acne and aggressive behaviour will improve in the days to come as well.
  22. Forgot to mention: 1) Hot Tip #1 the "pointy" end of the shoe goes in front of the toes. 2) If you find that there is only one inch for your foot & toes, but 3+inches for your heel - chances are you ignored Hot Tip#1!!!
  23. come on - read the review and all will become clear !
