  1. Note this event has been cancelled due to industrial unrest at the sponsors operations.
  2. You get legends, then Chuck Norris and top of the pile is Martin. Well done on a superb ride.
  3. Still have a 40 year old scar from trying to wheelie one of those. Great find.

  5. The meeting by all concerned resloved the issues and a strong police presence will ensure that Sabie is ready to host the event.
  6. There was a version of the statement circulating on What's App where there was some editing and the words "potential and considering" were edited out to read that the event was cancelled.
  7. Hi all - please note this is the offical version. Someone, who I would like to call a monkey, but I believe this is nolonger permitted, has taken the statement and edited out words "potential" and "consider" to make it read that the event has been cancelled. The decision on the event wil be made after tomorrow's (Thursday) meeting between all parties.
  8. Champion effort Louis, plenty more tours to ride and your time will come as a GC contender. I do feel like the little girls 3 post back.
  9. No problem with the bike, I rode mine for 3 years until recently upgrading. Was very happy and had no problems other than normal wear n tear items.
  10. If riding in a race will be DQ due to unequal wheel size!!
  11. Sorry Bin - making my way to Cape Town to due duty at the little race in the Cape - hope there are no dark clouds overhead for the weekend. Enjoy
  12. Note on the cut off times, the finish cut off is predetermined but extendable by the race comms if conditions and the winning times are outside of the expected, notice of the cutt off time are posted at the last water point. There are however cut offs at the final waterpoint and these are determined the day before and announced at the evening briefing by the race organiser.
  13. macclemore - as in life hard work pays off. Do not stress over who is coaching who and what your competitors are doing. Results will score in the end, prove your self on the tracks before worrying about issues which may or may not be there.
  14. A lot depends on the company attitude, was looking for a 2nd hand run about car and received a quote from a Honda dealer for a 2012 Honda Jazz with a list price of R 129 900. By chance did a internet search for similar car prices and found the same dealer same car photo at R 119 900. When phoned they said the web guys put the wrong photo up and the R 119k car was a higher milage vehicle but their mistake and would honour the price so got a R 10k discount on the Honda Jazz Amazing little car only vehicle in that catagory that I know of to fit 3 bikes into the back with rear seats folded down. Big thumbs up to the dealer.
  15. To Charl, Glenn and all those who posted; thank you for the awesome reporting of the 2013 FC. Gonna miss my daily dosage of updates, goose bumps, watery eyes and laughing at the posts. To every finisher well done and enjoy the blanket. FC just moved up a few places on my bucket list. See you all one day on the trail.
  16. If my observations were correct Tom rode a 650b at the Epic this year.
  17. Reminds me of Barberton 2009, rider in front of me fell in a stream crossing, stood up and threw his bike into the dam above the crossing. It provide huge amusement to 3 of us who watched and cheered while he waded in to recover his bike. There were more than a few bikes thrown down at the end of this Saturdays Sabie 75km Classic !!!
  18. Lets get Popcorn, seen this post a few times in the past years.
  19. Smolster easy answer - time in the saddle and plenty of hills thrown in. Last year rode my first Transbaviaans (235km) started with 6 weeks base training 6months before race, in the 4 months leading up to TB rode 500k per month and included 6 rides between 100 - 140km with a minimum of 2000m climb per ride. Cruized through TB in 16hours for an average ablity rider.
  20. Rode my first TB in 2011; looking forward to hopefully doing the real TB this year through the kloof if weather permits. Definately the 1st race inserted onto my 2012 calendar, the R1400 per rider is fair for the type and nature of this race.
  21. Well done Sabie organisers, amazing race again in 2011. Route was fantastic and weather perfect for riding, even S2 with the supposed "flood prediction" was superb.
  22. Impey confirmed to have signed with GreenEDGE for 2012, hope he gets some good ride time. Chris seems a really cool guy, hope he has Wiggins having to do some work for him in 2012.
  23. No fundi on training programmes but just get used to riding a long climb, both the 45 and the 75 have approximately a 15km climb. This comes after about 10k on the 75 and after 5k on the 45k. The road / track is fairly good just unrelenting and continous.
  24. I have had great service from Kulula with our bikes and I use them regularly for normal travel thanks to Discovery. When travelling to the TransB this year three of us with 66kg in 3 bags and 2 bike bags went thru with no problem.I find their planes newer than other airlines and they run a better time schedule.
  25. Your height is a factor but leg length also plays a part. I prefer a smaller more compact frame with a longer stem and raised saddle height. Personally do not think a XL is required. Speak to original bike shop and see if they cannot help out with a longer saddle stem.
