  1. Keen to hear the answer to this. I work and live in Centurion - 5kms apart. It rained so hard near work that cars were pulling over as the visibility was too bad and the roads were flooding. Got home (closer to Groenies than work) and had no rain whatsoever.Dibles2010-01-13 02:02:59
  2. http://fredhatman.co.za/?p=2333 Day 15 update. Keep it up guys!
  3. Pleasure SteelyDan. Was good to meet you and Matic. Sorry the group got split up so early on. My colleague's bike's chain came off and then he felt dizzy up the first hill so a few of us stayed behind with him. I'm keen on organizing a regular weekend ride but will be away this weekend. There has been some interest shown in doing NF rides on Sunday mornings in future.
  4. I didn't take many photos as I was too busy avoiding the mud puddles. Here's two pics of before the ride and one action shot of someone who didn't look as clean as this just a few hundred meters from here.
  5. I've just returned from a ride at the Farm and was impressed by the additional security. We saw guys patrolling on foot, bikes and even one in a car. I had a chat to Simon (NF mtb representative) after the ride and he says that the guys will patrols non-stop from 06:30 to 16:00 Saturdays and Sundays.
  6. Don't be too early tomorrow. Just got an email to say that the Farm will only open at 06:30 tomorrow morning to allow them to put the security measures into place so you probably won't be allowed through the gates before then.
  7. Have added you both to the list. See you tomorrow.
  8. PM me your address and I'll check on my Garmin software. Take note: you need to buy a ticket at the ticket office and then drive to the main gate. Check here for directions: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=46916&KW=Northern+Farm+GPS&PID=730362#730362
  9. In case any of you need it, my cell number is 071 682 55 66. See you all there.
  10. Very easy and mostly non-technical. There's farm roads, jeep track and singletrack. There's also a river crossing or two. Don't worry, you will definitely be able to cope with the route. This is going to be an easy laidback ride.
  11. I checked the weather reports and it doesn't look like it will rain but you never know. Have added you as a "maybe" to the list.
  12. Take note, the ride will go ahead even if it rains tomorrow morning.
  13. R20 per single entry or R200 for 20 entries. If you join us you should be safe as we are 16 or so in the group. Read here for the latest on the security: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=72478 Take note that it is not recommended that you ride on your own.
  14. See you all tomorrow in the parking lot.
  15. Email from northernfarm: Dear Mandy, <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Further to my previous e mails on the crime problems we have experienced recently. We have put a car guard on patrol in the car park and have arranged with farm management to clear up the grass and trees between the farm and the outside road. The problems have taken place on the outer perimeter road which runs parallel to the hills and dales road. We have set up three teams of two from the Diepsloot development project(older boys) and will provide them with pepper spray and radios. They will patrol this road, one team starting at the far end of the road, one in the middle and one at the beginning. The patrols will start at 6.30 a.m on Saturdays and Sundays. We are also negotiating with two companies to provide armed patrols along this section, and others and will have finalised something by this weekend. We advise people to ride in groups and not on their own. We also advise against riding on the roads outside of the farm. We are confident that these steps will encourage the criminal element to take their activities elsewhere. Regards Simon Nash Northern Farm MTB Representative
